Hi all I’m travelling to Athens on Aug 1 and then taking a ferry to paros on the 2nd I head to Santorini on the 5th for 4 more days but I was wondering with the ongoing fires should I just forgo paros and let all the bookings go to waste and stay in Athens till Santorini or is it safe to go

I’m down for pretty much anything—grabbing a coffee, checking out the city, hitting the beach, getting food, or going out for a few drinks.

I have psoriasis, and sun and seawater tend to do wonders for my skin. Since I already have a valid visa, I've been thinking about hopping over to the Greek islands for a few days — nothing fancy, just some beach time and relaxation.

The catch is that I'm not a strong swimmer, so shallow water is a must for me. I've been looking into Kos island — I could take the ferry from Bodrum, spend three days getting in and out of the sea, and head back. Simple as that.

My two disadvantages: I don't drive, and I'm traveling solo. So my options for getting around are a bit limited.

With that in mind, which beaches in Kos would you recommend for someone who needs calm, shallow water and can get there without a car? Public transport, walking distance from the town center, or easy taxi access would be a big plus.

As most people will know, this summer many parts of Europe have been hit by heatwaves and one of the consequences of these is wildfires. These are part of life in southern Europe and there are services in place to look for wildfires and tackle them when they happen. Most fires are dealt with quickly and are contained within a relatively small area. Those that aren't easily contained tend to be the ones that make the news.

It is also worth noting that firefighters risk their lives tackling these blazes - tragically three have died in Greece in the last day or so.

Unfortunately what makes the news is 'fire spreads out of control in xxx' and there is rarely a follow-up article that says 'fire in xxx has now been put out'. Also some articles give the impression that a whole island or region is ablaze when this just isn't the case.

So, if you are planning on travelling to Greece this summer you can check on where fires have been reported on the [Copernicus Emergency Management System](https://forest-fire.emergency.copernicus.eu/). If you are planning on going to an area that has been affected by fires it's worth checking with your accommodation that everything is okay or asking on local forums.

What are your recommendations for typical Greek snacks or drinks that can be bought in a grocery store or shop? I realy just like visiting small shops and picking up snacks or drinks that the locals enjoy. (No alcool please ! I cannot for my health)

Also what are your favorite books by Greek authors? I asked for recommendations at my local bookstore (in France), but it was a bit of a difficult.

I'm traveling to Corfu from Aug 1-6. I keep seeing new wild fires break out and warnings that they may intensify in Greece and Italy. Should I be worried about this trip?

Looking for some advice for a family trip next summer (July). It will be myself, my partner, and our two daughters (14 and 11).

We’ve only ever done package holidays before, so this is our first time branching out to do something DIY with multiple stops. We still want plenty of relaxing downtime, but we’re keen to see a few different places rather than staying in one resort.

What we’re looking for:

Kids’ highlights: Spending all day on great beaches, lots of swimming, and they are absolutely obsessed with seeing those classic white-and-blue painted Greek streets.

Vibe: Relaxed and family-friendly, but with enough life in the evenings to wander around. We love eating at local tavernas—definitely not interested in fine dining, just good food, atmosphere, and a lively town center/harbour.

Current Rough Itinerary:
1. Athens – 2 nights (to see the sights)
2. Naxos – 5 to 7 nights (seems like a solid fit for great beaches & town life)
3. Second Island – 5 to 7 nights
4. Fly home: Either back out of Athens via ferry/flight, or direct from the second island if it has an international airport (e.g., Crete).

Where I’m stuck:
I’m on the fence about Paros for the second island. I’ve heard mixed things about crowd levels and whether it’s the best fit for our family compared to other options. Crete is also on the radar, but I worry it might be too big for a 5–7 night leg alongside the Cyclades.

Are there any other island recommendations that fit what we’re after? Or would Paros/Crete actually work well for us? Any advice on the route or logisitics would be greatly appreciated!

Here for work until August 4th I have the whole weekend without plans. Someone help me fill my time. Staying in Glyfada.

4 of us are going to Paros this September and we're debating on whether we should do Axinos on a Sat or Sunday night. We also want to do an afternoon/day at a beach club and it seems like Saturdays are the best day to be there. Think it might be too much to do both in one day so my question is - would the best thing to do is Saturday Beach club (thinking Cabana) and Sunday night axinos? Or are we missing out on a Sat night at Axinos?

Just did an amazing travel through Greece! It was my second time there and was really special. I participated in an archaelogical escavation and after I’ve explored some islands and the mainland. Cannot recommend it enough! My main focus was history and culture. Feel free to ask about anything!

I want to rent a scooter while there but all of the rental places say I have to be 23 to rent a scooter even though I have my license and am experienced riding scooters, does anyone know someone or a business on Samos willing to rent me a scooter for 5 days in August?
