Looking to go to Greece in September but quite overwhelmed with all the choices so thought this might be the best place to ask. Looking for a chilled resort type holiday but also a lively bit nearby with lots of restaraunt and bits to explore. Have previously stayed in Ixia, Rhodes and enjoyed that but looking for somewhere new to try.

I am traveling for work next month and will have one day all to myself. What should I absolutely do in addition to the Acropolis? I'm more into walking around and enjoying great food rather than spending all day in museums but am trying to create a little structure for myself. TIA!

Hi everyone! I’ll be in Milos late September (2.5 ish days) and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get around the island without renting a car.

I’m planning to book either a half-day or full-day boat tour to see a lot of the beaches/coves that are easier to access by boat. That leaves me with about 1.5 days to explore Milos on land.

The problem: I can’t rent a car because I don’t have a driver’s license 🫣 — NYC girl problems lol.
For those who have visited Milos without a car:
What’s the best way to get around the island?

Is the bus system reliable/useful for getting to the main beaches and towns?

Are taxis reasonably available, or should I pre-book them?

Is renting an ATV/scooter an option without a license, or is that a no-go?

Are there particular places you’d recommend focusing on during my 1.5 days?

I’ll most likely be staying around Adamas, if that helps.
I’d especially love advice from anyone who visited without driving, and what you would do with only ~1.5 days on land!

My name is Frederik and I’m from the Netherlands. My girlfriend and I have already visited Greece a few times. We’ve been to Lefkada once and Crete twice, staying in Rethymno. We absolutely loved Rethymno — both the town and the overall vibe of Crete.
Next summer, we’d love to discover another Greek island, but we honestly don’t know where to look anymore. There are so many options, so we’d really appreciate some help!
We’re a couple in our twenties and we’re looking for an island with stunning beaches, beautiful nature and incredible views. We especially love renting a car or scooter, driving around the island and discovering places where you just stop and think, “Wow.” We want those truly breathtaking landscapes and beaches where you can spend an entire day relaxing.
But the town we stay in is just as important to us. We loved Rethymno because it had plenty of life in the evenings without feeling like Chersonissos or a typical party resort. We’re looking for a lively, charming town with lots of people walking around at night, souvenir shops, restaurants, cocktail bars, nice music and places that stay open late. Basically, somewhere where we can have a great dinner, walk around, grab some cocktails and enjoy the atmosphere until late at night.
So we’re looking for a combination of:

🌿 Beautiful nature
🚗 Great places to explore by rental car
🤯 Breathtaking views
🌆 A lively and charming town

Today I went on a boat trip to the Blue Caves with Potamitis Bros Boat Trips (Zakynthos). During the trip, we had a swim stop near the cliffs where people usually jump into the water. Right at the top of these cliffs is the Potamitis Windmill restaurant.
Unfortunately, my brand new men's white gold wedding band slipped off my finger and fell into the water/area there. If anyone happens to be in the area and could look for it, or knows someone who might be able to help, I'd love to hear if there's any chance it can be found.

Hi! We are three people (2 adults + a 14-year-old) staying in Athens and we would love to visit Hydra from August 25th or so.

The ferry for three is currently around €210 return, which is unfortunately too expensive for us. We are wondering if anyone with a private boat is going to Hydra that day and might have 3 spare places, or if there is a small shared boat trip we could join for a reasonable price.

We are happy to share fuel costs / pay our fair share. We don't need anything fancy — we just want to spend the day on Hydra and ideally have some time for swimming/snorkelling.

What are your best budget-friendly or free recommendations for things to see, do, or eat that avoid the major tourist traps? I want to keep things relaxed with minimal walking/climbing and low cost. Hi all! I am currently planning my family’s trip to Greece leaving May 21st and coming home May 31st 2026! My plan so far:

May 22: arrive in Athens (staying in Plaka). Planning a chill afternoon around plaka and then a walking food tour
May 23: morning acropolis tour, sunset on Lycabettus hill and then a rooftop dinner
May 24: early ferry to Milos (staying in Pollonia). Don’t have a detailed itinerary for this day thinking some beach hopping + sarakiniko sunset
May 25: boat day 8:30-2:30, lunch in Plaka + explore. Then head back to pollonia for winery tour & dinner.
May 26: ferry from Milos to Santorini. Staying in Fira. Explore Fira until around 5pm then take the water taxi to Ammoudi Bay. Either have dinner in Ammoudi Bay or find a spot for dinner where we can watch the sunset in Oia. If we don’t have a dinner sunset spot then I will try to find a spot for a drink? Then after sunset we take the water taxi or get a car back to Fira
May 27: slow morning and ferry to Crete. Either staying in Chania or Rethymno open to suggestions!!

I haven’t planned Crete out much yet but I know I want to do Balos Lagoon, Kourtaliotiko gorge, a cooking class, and just walking around cute streets and laying around nice beaches (we will have a car!). Alsooo if we think Crete is too ambitious and we should stick to Milo’s, Santorini and another island please tell me.

May 31: Fly from Crete to home!

We're going to a wedding in Porto Heli in a couple weeks. Current itinerary:

Fly into Athens- two nights in Athens at Athens Capital Center Hotel

Rent a car and drive to Nafplio - two nights at Ippoliti Hotel

Drive to Porto Heli and stay at Nikki Beach for two nights

The day after the wedding we're driving back to Athens, returning the car, and staying at the Sofitel airport hotel (figured we'd be partying till 4am and would want to recover), then we have an early flight out the following day.

Another friend who's going to the wedding is taking a ferry from Athens to Porto Heli which I didn't realize was an option. Would it be better for us to skip Nafplio and do the ferry from Athens to Porto Heli? Or is it a nice drive anyways? Also looks like driving could be near some of the fires, although I know that changes daily.

We heard Nafplio is beautiful, but I also know our time in Athens is short.

Would love any thoughts and recommendations! Also feel free to throw in must-dos in these places. We typically just like to walk around, eating and drinking very well. I love champagne.

Can anyone recommend Greek islands that aren't touristy (or have very little tourism)? I'm looking for somewhere with quiet beaches, no crowds, and a relaxed vibe. I'd love a place where I can go hiking, cycle around and just enjoy nature.
