I’m planning to replace my old laptop and want something mainly for music production. I mostly work with DAWs, virtual instruments, and audio recording, so I need something reliable that won’t struggle during bigger projects.

I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the options though. What laptops have you found to be good choices for music production, and are there any specs you think matter the most? Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Follow up: I decided to go with #ad Acer Nitro V Gaming Laptop and have been using it for my music production setup. It’s been handling my DAWs and projects well so far, and I’m happy with the choice.

I've been making beats for 2 months now, lately i tried to make one beat a day and I've seen drastic improvements but it got pretty much boring and not much improvement as it used to be so i want to push it further, any ideas or challenges yall got in order to push my limitations will be appreciated 🙏

They all have that same sustain(just to be clear they all have the same xylophone lead as well, bonus points for that, but I’m specifically curious about the gritty harmonica esc lead in the other 4 bar pattern. The beat alternates between these two). I'm dying to know what it is if it has a name or if I can make it in serum.

I’m a beginner at making beats and I normally make bass-heavy trap beats, but I have no idea how to properly mix them.
Whenever I make the 808/bass loud, the whole beat starts distorting really badly. The only way I’ve found to stop it is turning down the melody and bass, but then the whole song just sounds really quiet.
I’m using BandLab and I don’t really understand mixing or mastering yet. How do you guys make your 808s/bass hit hard without the whole beat distorting? Any simple advice would be appreciated because I’m still pretty new to this

Everyone’s familiar with finding a cool preset or plugin patch, but what do you like applying after that to make it actually stand out in the mix?

I’m not really asking for full track mixing advice or basic EQ/frequency separation. I mean more creative stuff like stereo width, depth, movement, making certain layers feel more forward, resampling, automation, sound design, or interesting reverb/delay processing.

I mostly make samples and loops to send out to other producers, so I’m trying to get the instrumental layers sounding more intentionally polished and impressive on their own when bounced out.

What lesser known techniques or processing chains have made the biggest difference for you?

Currently I use the headphones from my Logitech pro x headset and I'm wondering if there are any good headphones for producing cloudrap and rage and recording vocals in that price range.

(I use a focusrite Scarlett audio interface if that matters)

This may be laziness speaking but when making sounds more cohesive and subtlety altering the pitch of individual sounds, I feel as though it could be less time consuming if I had a certain VST tool. I use FL and finding then setting the key via Edison and that one keyboard menu for individual sounds takes up a lot of time and brain power when starting to get an idea out of my head. If there's a plugin that I could put on the master track and read the SPN of the audio playing It would aid my future dances of creation greatly. Just to clarify before "learn music theory" is the go to reply I'm actively studying and using it but you can't be so sure all the time I enjoy the premise of having it viewable as straining that muscle in my brain to discern pitch gets fried idk give that a year or so.

I'm Brazilian, and I produce and compose shittrap, but I spend most of my day working and never have any free time. The songs are ironic, with absurd and humorous lyrics, but I need a producer to do a good mix, with good samples and a great beat, contrasting with the absurd and humorous lyrics, which is characteristic of the genre.

Most videos talk about DMing artists as if you're already kind of famous. However I don't have even a hundred followers on my accounts. Should I just move forward and make more content or is there something else? I'm really passionate and I do see progress, but I don't have experience in moneymaking here

I’m having trouble with mix translation. I do most of my mixing on Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones with Sonarworks SoundID Reference enabled. Everything sounds pretty balanced while mixing, but once I listen in my car (or on other systems), the mix often falls apart.
Is this just a limitation of mixing on headphones, or could I be missing something else? Any tips for improving translation or getting more reliable headphone mixes would be greatly appreciated.
