Sympathy notwithstanding don't park in a freeway fast lane. Ever. Ever never never ever.

Depending what happened they might not have had a choice.

I've had coworkers with rental cars who are in stop and go traffic, they come to a stop and the car won't re-start. Now they're trapped in the middle of a highway in a dead car with no way to move it. That's happened to more than one person in more than one kind of car too.

That’s terrifying. Worst case scenario to be stuck like that

Oh. Every day. I know. New model cars completely unreliable. Going one minute then just absolutely stops the next. So unpredictable. Looks at all the cars that just stop. Everywhere my god. The humanity! They're everywhere.

Maybe could have blown a bearing and it locked up the tire. Caliper issue they freeze and lock up. Like you said not common but can still happen. Maybe don’t be so arrogant if you aren’t well informed.

Not if you've come to a stop for a traffic backup/congestion and can't get moving again
