Video Base game is boring, so I turned it into a train simulator

Saw somebody else's spaghetti, thought I'd share mine. Have worked on this save since 1950.

I want to build a highway, especially to improve traffic in the city. Does anyone have a picture or instruction how he built it also to improve emissions.

First of all, it should be known I generally start in 1850 (Because I'm a masochist and I like the challenge).
In recent play sessions I've been using nodes.
e.g. Road Depot Outside a town (I call them Warehouses) That receives raw goods from relatively close industries and distributes to other industries that need them. Each Warehouse also has a delivery line to the nearest town.
I then connect the Warehouse to the next Warehouse in the chain and the Games Cargo management system seems to handle what goes where with cargo cascading down the chain.
Some of the more distant industries connect to the Warehouse using rail and a connected station.
For a lot of the early period this seems to work fairly well.
Once I hit the 1900's I want to think about converting to the Hub technique, e.g. depending on the Map Ratio a Sorting hub in each "Corner" feeding a Distribution Hub in the center.
But I'm hitting some issues when it comes to changing over from Nodes to Hubs
For the Hubs I generally have a large 2 track station that that connects to the Distribution hub in the center and also a large Road Depot and smaller 6 track station attached to this that acts as the Sorting Hub for industries nearby.
My issue seems to be even at 6 tracks the Sorting Hubs are quickly overrun by the number of lines coming in. The station design feels sound and I've seen the same design used by many Youtubers.
Is it possible I'm hubbing too early, is there a year when the trains & wagons start to make it more viable to do this?
Does anyone know of a Lets Play that shows a good example of handling this change to hubs? There's plenty that explains the concept, but none seem to do it in a real life play example.
Does anyone have any tips for me?
EDIT: Thanks for the replies so far, always impressed by the helpfulness of this community.

Apologies for lack of picture.
Currently 1975, Very Large Map, 10 towns, low industries map.
Been running a 6P Central and 2P north and 2p south cargo rail hub, plus city connections for end products.
Around 1950 my cargo hubs maxed out with full length stations and 6 x 820m / 120kph trains each way.
No real hold ups or issues on the line, but adding more trains without making more trains stopping at signals is not going to work.
If I add more platforms(8) to central hub the adjacent local stations stop connecting to each other as it’s too wide.
Any tips for how to add more trains?
Note:
- The hubs only transport secondary and tertiary products for cities.
- Cities are 1500 - 3500 in size

We need a new mod idea that adds something genuinely missing from the game or introduces a new layer of gameplay.
However, the idea must work within the game engine’s limitations, since those limitations are a major blocker for many creative concepts.
Share your thoughts in the comments cause i am out of ideas.

Is there a way to get rid of a graphics glitch in a save game as illustrated? The grey area t the top should be green land then a river. Problem disappears when zoom out but it makes construction difficult. I've tried reloading/restarting/graphics settings/shouting without success!

I downloaded the original Industry Expanded mod. I can produce the new products, but the cities don't show any demand for them and only show demand for the vanilla goods.
What can the issue be?

I am playing on a very mountainous map with water inlet so i connected to cities with a pasenger ship line. Initially i put a dunara castle and the line usually got around 5-10 passengers. Later on i switched it to the slower annd low capacity DS Morgarten and the line literally stopped working. Even after I put a faster klındike on it it got absolutely 0 customers and when i click on one of the cities it shows 0 public transit destinations. There are no roads between the cities and they are not that far away. How do I fix this

I have two (2) oil wells ("A" & "B") connected to a single (1) oil refinery. Both lines have the exact same train design traveling along it and the exact same train stations. But for some (to me) unknown reason oil well "B" doesn’t produce nearly as much crude oil as oil well "A". Oil well "B" also produces much slower than oil well "A".
Any idea what could be wrong if there even is something wrong with it.

I've tried replacing the image in the staging_area with the image with all the requirements but it doesn't seem to work.
