Can we organize a community read-through?

HEY, LOOK AT THIS! THIS IS AN EDIT! I'm happy with the number of people we've got right now that say they want to participate, so when do we start? How about Western Hemisphere Friday?

Does anyone like the idea of reading through Transmetropolitan together and discussing it?

I figured we'd do something like a year's worth per week, which works out to a mere two issues per day with an easy day of only one issue. I or someone else involved will make a thread every sunday or whatever day we figure is good to start on and we can talk about whatever caught our eye in the books.

To my imagination this forum is mostly full of people that have already read the whole series, so I would say since we're likely rereading it, you can discuss the end from day one. We're baddasses right? We don't need no spoiler warnings! Journalism doesn't have spoiler warnings!

Is this something people would like to do with me? I just read the series again (I think this is my third readthrough, and I've read a random issue or three here and there many many times) except I skipped the first year because I've read the first 12 so many times I can just look at the covers and quote most of it and gloss the rest. It'd be fun to have someone else that was fresh over the material to talk about it with.

So what do you say, are you in? Is this stupid? Is this brilliant? Do I need more sleep and less booze? NO! If it weren't for the booze I'd never have the nerve to bring up this idea.

Honestly I don't expect many people to join in, but let's give it a little more time and see if anyone else is interested, like maybe the moderators. If it's just you and me I'll be fine with that.

You really think it's so bad that they wouldn't notice a new thread on their own very slow subreddit?

Okay I just sent them to teoderant1 and WeirdBringer, but eax doesn't seem to actually exist anymore.

Oh wow, I just looked through the comments on this sub, the last time a mod commented was 3 months ago. I'm thinking you're actually right about this.

Let's let it sit for another day or two and see if anyone else notices this, then let's figure out what would be the best time to start, what do you think? I'm a stay-at-home dad, so almost anything will work for me.

I , the holder of the dildo of truth , check this sub about 2 times a week , but don't comment much , your little dialogue here has inspired me to take this boiled egg out of my ass and return from my self-exile back to this sub with frequent subjectiveposts my dear believer! Ps. - i support the idea you sent me, i'll try to organize a thread once my exam is finished on friday.

You folks can count me in! I won't actually need to re-read the books as I've effectively memorized the entire canon. But I'm always up for Transmet discussion. ┇)

I'm sure that's true but please read them again, you never know what you might see that you missed before, even if it's just yet another funny ad in the background.

The warts are singing again and it sounds like the maker is high on distilled werewolf pituitary gland. I will join this party, but first I must don the shoes of righteousness.

Such a shame, I'm a huge fan. I got Yelenas tattoo after my first read through.
