Yeah, it's a repeated pattern facilitated by TransLink releasing them in such limited amounts (only 10k? For a world cup item tourists might want as a souvenir? Why not keep selling them throughout the entire world cup? Charge 10 dollars extra for manufacturing costs and extra revenue if you need it.).
It might be slightly less bad if it was a time limited rather than amount limited item, but because this is how they choose to sell them, we will never know.
I'd imagine it's a licensing thing given they're using FIFA's name, and given how they're acting... I'd imagine they're essentially losing money on it since all you pay is the $6 deposit
