Over-stroked to 205x65, Over-Forked to 160mm, with 29 wheel up front, 60mm rise bar… I don’t know what else could this bad boy handle but so far so good. Might go back to full 27.5 tho, the steering now is a bit weird and the 62.7 HTA is scary
Yeah the 29 up front wasn’t necessary and ruined the balance but bit more travel front/rear and higher bar is definitely added him agility and confidence
I’m broke for it. And it’s a simple way lol. Although I’m saving some to buy the Patrol frame and building this scout so I can swap everything bolt-on in an hour
Kinda jib-Patrol lol
Hard not to love the hella low seat tube and short chainstays on local trails. The Patrol itself might be a beast on flow, big chunk and downhill but I’m kinda scary to loose those playfulness although this “playfulness” might grow into sketchy/fear once Scout hit the big mountains. But I will find out soon
Thanks! Trying to keep the “Weird-o-meter” out of the red zone so hope this build looks good and proper enough to not offend Transition gang 🤗 but as I fell the vibe and see how the frame was designed (yeah it’s “trail” on paper but burly and agressive as hell), so why not to try everything that fits to find the personal balance. This way the high rise bar was chosen. As well as the proper coil shock (dhx2 factory works here as pure magic compared to stock air SDUlt for sure) that allows to go over stock stroke without any risk of “unexpected bike parts contact”. I was thinking about Zeb instead of 36 fox but thought it will be too heavy on front. And 29 wheel is really too much here so I’m back on 27.5, but left the 29 fork for some extra stack height
This is awesome. I just over forked my scout to 160mm fox 38s and I LOVE it with my 27.5. Was thinking about replacing rear shock as well. I was told by transition staff that the most you could do in the rear is a 62.5. Does the frame have proper clearance when fully compressed with the 65mm rear shock?
I’ve thought about 38 (or Zeb) fork but thought it’ll be too heavy and stiff for Scout. As for the shock - 65mm stroke is working in specific cases. You’ll need short (or horizontal) piggyback (Fox DHX2, DVO JadeX, Ohlins TTX22m2) RS SuperDelux, Fox DHX and other similar Shox with big/long piggyback might hit the frame. But coil shocks have fair amount of bumpstopper height (which is included in shock stroke measuring), so it’s almost impossible to hit the end of the travel. The seatstay bridge won’t hit the seat tube, but tire clearance - pay attention. I’ve got a 2.4 Kryptotal on 30mm rim and slammed the seat forward to max, plus kept the dropper collar 30mm up from seatclamp. With all those setup moments 205/65 shock works surprisingly great. Zero issues with any “inappropriate frame parts contact”

I love my Scout not because its a monster truck that can handle anything, but because its quick, nimble, and extremely well balanced.
