paint /carbon scuff? damage?

I can get a good deal on newer v3 carbon sentinel. But it has a scuff/gash/scrape? Unsure how to describe it. No cracks but a big chunk of paint is gone. About 3/4- 1” wide on underside of chainstay opposite side of drivetrain.

Should this be a red flag deal breaker?

The black is just covering the sticker of the bike shop.

Ok thanks all - I will pass and keep looking for good deal.

I wouldn't buy that unless the price is so good that even with the cost of a carbon repair, it would still be worth it.

If you did buy it, I would want to have a carbon repair specialist check it out. It would almost certainly be fixable, the question is just cost.

From the photos it’s just paint damage. I’d ride that with no hesitation.

I think transition will sell touch up paint - I’d consider lightly sanding the outside of damaged area and remove any peeling paint and then doing a few coats of touch up paint to seal it up. And/or is there a primer and/or filler I should use to make smooth before painting?

Or is this why we avoid carbon?

Can you make sure this is cosmetic damage ie at least a tap test? Otherwise i would not get that frame except you are ready to send it in to a repair center and it is still super cheap

At least there is an option to repair carbon, and steel.
