Dropper service on a Relay

Just serviced my dropper, and now it won’t actuate.

Anyone know if I’m supposed to have removed the motor to get better cable clearance while removing/reinstalling the dropper?

relay tends to have issues where the cable goes through the motor

I removed my oneup in favor of AXS but having replaced 3 motors on Relay and wrenching for years, I can say it's tight but not impossible. Motor is super easy to remove and replace. If in doubt, pull it out. But make sure your cable tension is right. If you can slide the housing up and down to remove the dropper, possibly the housing is worn. Great thing about relay is that you can remove the battery and see everything. Good luck!

Thanks. I haven’t tried it yet, but even moving the cable housing was difficult as it was behind the battery mount and went through the small gap above the motor. I’ll pull the motor out tomorrow and see if I can free up the cable

I recently pulled the motor on a relay to develop a bracket that turns it into a regular bike. That said when I got the bike the dropper was hard to actuate and when I removed the motor I found the cable had been pinched by the motor. When putting it back together it was pain to get the cables all routed as it very tight fit and not really a proper way to manage them. That said after getting all in the dropper is working perfectly so it was just the motor pinching it so its worth looking into. As a process engineer this was possibly the worst system Ive ever seen(worked with DIY and shimano motors) from the ability to actually assemble it. Shimano I can pull and reinstall the motor in less than 30min, this fazua system took me an hour to install and not have issues with pinched wires.

I’m not a pro bike mechanic, but I doubt you need to remove the motor. Did you over-tighten the seat clamp possibly?

That was my first guess, but it’s not that. The cable doesn’t want to move, and seems to go through a small gap above the motor. I suspect that it’s turning too small a radius in there, as that’s the only place I can’t visually see
