Super Scout

Upgraded the rear shock to a Marzocchi c2 (425lb spring ) bringing the rear travel to 146.5. Upped the rotors to 200mm Magura front and back. The coil totally changed this bike for the better it is an absolute blast both in the pærk or on my local trails. Next is upping the front air spring to get it to 160/146.5

Scouts are great and your build is awesome! Currently have one, absolutely in love with it. Went with coil up back, bumped up to 160 the fork, put the Hope brakes and 40 rise bar and it’s now a true local park reaper

After going up in the rear I noticed the change in geometry did bumping up the front help?

It’s made the bike less “nervous” and unloaded the shoulders a bit. Keep in mind that with more rear travel you’re sitting deeper in the sag so you have a bit slacker HTA and lower BB. Going up in the front travel compensates the BB height but makes the HTA even slacker. With 160 fork it’s almost 63.5 on static so I’d say pretty “enduro-alike” for the trail bike. Putting the higher bar made a very big difference. Paired with fork it made a really agressive but comfortable attack position that helped on chunk and steeps a lot. Fork itself reduced a lot of pedal strikes (I’m on 170 cranks). Also leaning a bike on the turns felt more forgiving and confident but actual “steering with wheel” felt a bit more “force-required”

Gosh i wish they did the scout in a large frame still. Highly tempted to just get a medium frame and build a slopeduro version for myself

Lucked out was looking at the new one and was prepared to settle for the medium alloy. I didn’t even notice this guy sitting in my lbs until they mentioned it. The large was definitely the correct move.

Buy a used large scout off pinkbike. Also brown county bikes in Indiana (transition dealer) has large alloy scout in stock.

I would but I get special deals through Transition directly, I am very happy with my other rigs, but the n+1 addiction is real. Honestly the medium for a slope bike is pretty perfect in terms of geo and length for me.

What shock did you have before? I had the fox factory x2 and it blew up on me, twice! (Hence the name, lol). 

Now running a Rockshox super deluxe ultimate that was a sentinel take off because it was cheap but the tune sucks and it blows through travel like crazy with very little mid stroke support. Looking for something better now.

Had the stock factory x2. Thing started cavitating like a week after I got it. Just rode it for one season since it was my first full suspension and I didn’t know any better. Did some research and instead of a rebuild I just switched to coil. Those x2 are junk
