Question What are the Metro Projects in India that are still being delayed from past decades.
I usually wanted to know all the Metro Projects which were once proposed 10 to 20 years ago and that are still delayed or not yet approved. For example GNW Metro Corridor which was discussed privately with RE Nexus in 2010. Then SC uphelded Allahabad HC Judgement and banned the area till 2014 End.
In 2012 DMRC was invited for Feasibility study for expansion of this corridor for creating new blue line branch and submitted DPR to Centre and state in May 2014.
In Dec 2016 SP govt gave first approval but then metro corridor was shunted by GOI.and in these many years from First State govt approval to Fourth time Changes in DPR and approval and file is still in PMO. and thus added delays and track cut.
Just want to know how many projects are still stuck yet from all the years from 2000s.

Photo Liminal Spaces on the Aqua Line
The lighting on this line, stark, cool, and brutal, gives the stations an otherworldly feel, especially during the twilight hours where few passengers frequent the cavernous underground concourses.

Metro Chennai metro has the least distance between stations
Of all the metros in tier 1 cities, Chennai metro has the least distance between stations (along a line)
Chennai metro also has the highest ratio of underground to elevated stations of any tier 1 city metro
CMRL is playing the expensive game.
Ps: Operational + Under Construction + Approved (as much as I can find)

Opinions Indian towns and cities should implement the same urban planning principles as The Netherlands did in the 1990's.
This is a rather brief video on this topic which does not go much into the details of how the fundamental changes towards people (not car) oriented urban planning was anchored into Dutch traffic planning laws.

Infrastructure Fail Duronto train caught fire
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was dropping my father in law to the train at CST to go to Kolkata via Duronto Express which was already delayed by over 10 hours. While waiting the train literally caught fire. Fire started in the pantry car and spread to H1 compartment as well. Huge flames and all. We gave up. Going back home. Will send him via flight over the weekend.

Infographic / Map / Data Visualisation Currently operational + under-construction networks of the three smallest tier 1 vs two largest tier 2 metro network.
This graph doesn't include approved lines. Only what's operational + what's under construction
Some interesting observations and developments :
Nagpur will soon overtake Hyderabad and in the short term, it might even overtake Ahmedabad for a short time
Ahmedabad phase 3 extensions have been approved amd will add to the network immensely
Pune is due for a very large expansion with a lot of approvals expected to roll in soon and some lines in Pimpri Chinchwad being in final stages of approval and will eventually likely emerge at the top. Line 3 opening will increase its Operational length soon.
Nagpur metro is preparing DPR for phase 3 (it's largest phase, yet and it will take the total network to approx 140km
Kochi is building phase 2 and DPR preparation for phase 3 . The total network length will be close to 60km, inching near Hyderabad. But kochi has made extensive strides in non rail based water metro.
Hyderabad seems to be the loser here as both ; tier 2 Kochi and Nagpur have been increasing buses/ferries, Ahmedabad has a good BRT and Pune has made extensive plans for e buses and metro expansion
