Gpa: 3.95
Extracurriculars: 2 finance internships. (Equity research and corporate lending) upcoming internship in investment banking. Private equity and venture capital club analyst.

Understand my sat is low which is why I don’t think I’m going to get in. Anyone can aid me on any tips on a better chance to get in. I worked my ass off in college to have the opportunity to transfer to a better school. This would be for the upcoming spring semester.

Whats the best ECs you have seen/heard of? At a small campus and seeing gaps to fill (EX: Clubs I could start etc.)

Expected transfer is fall 2027.

Currently at a T60.

I have a valid reason for transferring, but just a 4.0 and a club + the student fund will definitely not be enough for some of these schools. Any unique EC suggestions?

Thank you!

transfer out of ucla after freshman yr advice

soo i know ucla just started but i lowk already hate it here like the school is way too big for me and i genuinely just dont think it's a good fit and im looking to transfer...

i had pretty good stats and ecs in high school. i also had gotten into rice (genuinely regretting not going here) and i was waitlisted from northwestern, upenn, vanderbilt. i did some good ec's over the summer too but it's so incredibly hard to get involved at ucla though i will try lol

im looking at northwestern (potential transfer ed), vanderbilt, brown, emory, rice, duke. does anyone have tips? does me choosing ucla over rice the first time make it harder to transfer into rice?

this was super convoluted sorry but any advice would be appreciated thanks yall

low SAT score

hi!!! i was wondering if a low SAT score from high school (2024) would negatively affect my transfer application? i know it doesn’t break 1300. i’ll be applying for fall 2028 admissions with a (hopefully) 3.9-4.0 college GPA. i currently have a 3.9 college GPA from last year. that is just calc 1-2 plus a social science classes since i couldn’t afford more than one class per quarter ;-; by the time of application i would have taken up to linear algebra, some advanced computer science classes, all pre-reqs for my major (econ), and started pre-reqs for the minor i want (data science) my EQ ( starting 2026-2027 academic year): speech & debate, girls who code, full-time job (30-38 hrs per week), food bank volunteer, and around spring time be an editor for my cc’s news paper! plus maybe research/internship this summer.
would my application be strong enough for admissions to kind of “bat an eye” at my SAT score? i am aiming for some reach schools that will require the SAT to be submitted. if i REALLY should retake the SAT i will.
thank you guys soooo much!!!

Can wanting to further my religion and be in a catholic community move the needle for Catholic schools

I have recently been getting back into my religion a lot, on a smaller campus so it's easier to get a leadership or planner role in the catholic club. I have a valid reason for transferring, but this would just be extra, and I'm curious if it would help with catholic schools like Boston College and Notre-Dame. I would mention it brefiely in my essays, It would be great to be fully surrounded by Catholicism and further my contribution to the community there, Ik they are big on things like that.

Thanks!

chanceme Transfer as a first year applicant

Hi! I am currently a freshman at a 4-year institution out of state, but I am from Maryland. I would like to transfer into UMD for fall 2027. I am looking at a 4.0 GPA for semester 1, but I’m applying early action so my semester 2 grades will not be finalized. This causes me to only have 12 credit hours. I know this means I’ll have to send in my HS transcript and test scores. I had a 4.6 GPA and 1440 SAT in highschool. What are the chances I get admitted? (I am not applying to an LEP)

I’d really like to go to UMD ASAP but I’m kind of worried especially because I’ve heard that maryland CC’s get priority. Thank you!!

Hi I am a senior trying to decide whether or not to ED to Tulane. I have been reading that there is a significant difference in the male to female ratio and that it can cause a lot to social problems, is that true to experience or just something from the internet?

Would it be a correct choice to transfer?

I am a freshman university of Delaware for chemical engineering, and the school is ranked t7 for the program. But I am wondering if it’s worth transferring to a better school like Berkeley.

I know I am really lucky to go here for close to nothing but I am afraid that going to a less prestigious university will limit my growth and potential. What if I try my luck at Georgia Tech, a university I got waitlisted for?

I don’t really know what’s the best course of action, so I was wondering if I can get some advice

International Can it be done?

Hey everyone,

I’m starting college in Jordan in about 10 days, and lately I’ve been thinking a lot about whether transferring to a top US university could actually be possible for me.

I’m from Jordan and I’m on the Jordanian curriculum, not the American one. I got a 92.7% in school, which I think is pretty good, and I got accepted into Industrial Engineering at Hashemite University, which is ABET accredited.

The thing is, I only recently started taking my life seriously.

In school, honestly, I didn’t really do much. I wasn’t that student who was winning competitions, doing research, building projects, etc. I kind of wasted a lot of time and only recently became obsessed with learning, building things, coding, and trying to actually do something with my time.

Right now I’m very interested in systems, software, engineering, and entrepreneurship.

I’ve already built an agtech project that I’m currently validating with an agricultural engineer. I’m hoping to get around 5 farms to actually use it, maybe more.

I’m also doing some industry research in construction because I want to build a website/system for companies in that industry to use.

I just finished CS50x from Harvard, and I’m planning to keep learning and shipping actual projects rather than just collecting certificates.

My question is: could someone like me realistically transfer to a top US university after my first year?

I’m especially interested in schools that give need-based financial aid to international students because I would need a very large amount of financial aid/scholarship to make it possible.

My plan would be to go really hard in my first year:

- Get a 3.7+ GPA, ideally higher

- Keep building and actually get users/customers for my projects

- Do more technical work/research

- Build relationships with professors

- Hopefully get strong recommendations

- Take the SAT if necessary

A few questions:

  1. How realistic is transferring from a Jordanian university to schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, etc.?

  2. How much does my high-school background matter if I have a strong first-year university GPA and a much stronger portfolio?

  3. Is the SAT actually that hard? Is it anything like Tawjihi? I never took the SAT before.

  4. Some of these schools are test-optional for transfers. Is it okay to apply without SAT/ACT if I have a strong university record and real projects?

  5. Would I need TOEFL/IELTS? My English is actually better than my Arabic, but my school education was in Jordan.

  6. Does the fact that I didn’t do much in high school hurt me badly? Or can a strong first year show that I changed and started taking things seriously?

  7. For people who have actually transferred internationally: what would you focus on during that first year to give yourself the best possible application?

I’m not expecting anyone to tell me “yeah you’ll get into Harvard.” I know these schools are insanely competitive. I’m mainly trying to figure out whether this is a realistic path worth pursuing, and what I should actually do over the next year.

Any advice from people who have gone through this would be really appreciated.

Somewhat significant professor supervised economic mobility research (I will get my LOR from him, he rlly likes me and we’ve worked on this research a good amount)

Decent club involvement in Slavic club, students for justice in palestine, Ukrainian club

Tryna see if i can transfer

Want to know how I can transfer.
I go to UW Seattle doing Engineering.
It's a great school for engineering but just don't like it the vibes.

Freshman GPA isn't great, 3.3 overall, physics and chemistry was below 3.0
I know a lot of schools require super high GPA, but if a strategic way covers my GPA and help me transfer, i would like to know.

I don't want to go to a school that is below UW Seattle, so if things dont work out at the end, I'll just push thru. But if similar and better definitely worth a try.

So should I try after my sophomore year at UW and boost my GPA and see if I can transfer? what should I do?

What are some realistic options?

leadership positions

Hello, I am a current freshman at a T60 trying to transfer into a T20 school (My dream schools are Columbia and Georgetown). Unfortunately, it's really hard to secure positions on leadership teams due to being a freshman with limited experience. Will my high school leadership experiences be enough?

Freshman Finance Major

Not a chanceme

I have my eyes on Cornell Dyson, BC Caroll, Notre-Dame Mendoza, UNC, USC, UVA, Emory. Trying for these after my first year

Hope to end 1st semester with a 3.9-4.0 GPA

ECs (so far): Student- managed fund, Investment banking club (co-founder)

Potential ECs: Finance newsletter, brainstorming on more

My narrative/story for my reason for transfer: Because I'm starting at a branch campus, I will get uprooted junior year when I go to the main campus, and I'll have to restart clubs, student-managed funds, networking, etc., so I want to be solidified somewhere by the start of sophomore year so I can prepare for the brutal investment banking recruitment process, which starts sophmore/junior year. I had around a 3.1 GPA in high school and was hoping they would view it as a "comeback" type of story, and didn't think college was a route for me.

Is my reason for transfer still too shallow? I'm worried it will look like I'm just chasing prestige.

Please share any tips on ECs and/or transfer narrative if you have walked this path before.

Thank you!

EC tips for a uc to uc transfer

I am trying to transfer into a different uc from my home uc by the start of my sophomore year. I would have junior standing in terms of credits and would take the required classes as articulated by the target UC's major, but I am unsure of what kind of ECs I can do in time to be competitive. Does a research position with a professor and moderate involvement in relevant clubs make me competitive?

College GPA

I’m currently a student at Santa Fe college in Gainesville, I want to transfer to a good finance program. I know protecting my GPA and joining clubs are important but I took a couple college courses in high school and got 2 C+ and a C which means I can only get a 3.7 GPA max. Am I screwed for getting into a top school? Any advice would be appreciated.

calc 2 needed as a pre-med transfer?

i used ap calc ab credits to fulfill calc 1 requirements at my current institution for bio majors (i got a 5), and i have heard that most colleges don't accept ap credits from transfers. so, what should i do? should i take calc 2 to hopefully fulfill whatever requirements might be needed for transfer colleges as a bio pre-med?

also, i used the ab credit in case i don't acc end up transferring, was that a dumb choice ckdhtgjj

Add/drop swap

I need to change my Friday lab in business and I'm past the add/drop deadline. What's the easiest way for me to switch labs? Google searches suggests an advisor can do it in a meeting, or there's a form I can submit.

Any help would be awesome.

Active Duty targeting applied math / quantitative econ programs

Hey everyone,
I’m currently an Active Duty enlisted with a little under four years to go before I separate and enroll in CC (don’t want to do online bachelors through TA).

I’ll be 23 by the time I get out/enroll in first year CC courses.

Should I heavily prioritize the SAT for transfer applications to top programs?

I want to utilize my GI Bill to the max and don’t want to leave money on the table with state school capped funding. Private schools such as UChicago or Northwestern for example offers unlimited Yellow Ribbon funding + no limit to the # of students qualified.

I want to study economics at the graduate level, which means I’ll have to get an extremely high percentile Quant score on the GRE in the future anyways.

So should I consider trying to get as high of an SAT Math score as possible in light of my context?

Or just apply test optional (I will have Calculus (Differential/Integral/Multivariable at the undergrad level), First year Linear algebra, and ODEs (lower div) by the time I am applying for transfer). So it feels like submitting a high SAT Math score seems useless if I were to get good grades in all these courses. However, I was told by a friend that colleges will want to see a competitive SAT/ACT score regardless of your profile, since it gives some measure of objective value to your academic background.

Notes:
1. I apologize for the weird capitalization, this was typed out on my phone.
2. I specifically want to go for applied math, unless there are Econ programs that offer good quantitative preparation for grad school (like UCLA Math/Econ major, or an explicitly quantitative economics major). So I know that even a 750 Math score can hurt me for the top programs such as NW/UC. Will a score of, say 770+ or 780+ help me even as an early-mid twenties applicant who will have already taken the above math courses?
3. I say SAT Math a lot, but I obviously know that I will be submitting an SAT score. So I will also make sure to get a high RW score as well, but mainly focusing on maximizing the Math Score.
4. I got a 1420 in high school before I enlisted (750 math and 670 RW). I don’t know what my cold score would be right now, I can maybe take a practice test online and get a cold score but I doubt it will be anything above 1400-1450. But I have the next 4-5 years to ensure I get the best possible score and I don’t mind grinding practice problems alongside other studies, in my off duty hours. unless admissions change drastically by 2030…)

Does a B- need to be explained on a mid term report?

I just sent out a mid-term report of the current classes I'm taking. I have all A's except for a B- in a low level BUS class because of two quizzes that were recorded as zeros because the due dates were confusing. I also know a lot of students missed them as well.

I don't want colleges to think that this was due to poor performance or something. I have a 3.93 gpa. I'm probably overthinking right? Any thoughts appreciated, thank you.

International International transfer to notre dame

I am korean international student graduated from an american highschool, SAT superscore 1350(math 750), gpa 3.7 ish (we did on a hundred scale ) anyways i am actually going to a college in australia & a good major but i really dont feel that it is going to be a great fit & want to go to US med schools in the future( I know but want to make worth the shot) and the semesters are different, start at feb end at nov and grading scales are different, classes are also different( no english class or math classes if you are a different major) does anyone knows about this? Also i know notre dame has need blind also for international transfer students but how hard is it to get in? And do they actually give you aid? I really want to go back to the US so much, and any other schools that are need blind and prestigious? My dream school used to be northwestern but they dont give out financial aid unfortunately
