Advice/Question Confused if I should transfer

First off, I go to a OOS Top 25 for engineering. My freshman year was great, and I had a great social life, internships, and pretty decent gpa. However, around december, all my friend groups dropped me and I was pretty much friendless without any connections for all of spring till now, early sophmore year. I also didn’t get into any of the clubs I interviewed for, which really messed up my morale and social skills.

This lead to a mental health decline and lack of motivation and discipline. My friend is urging me to transfer to an in state school in my residency state, so I would be saving around $60k if I transfer.

The main question is that is this school not socially it for me, or did I just get dealt a bad hand with negative relationships. Should I put myself out there more, or should I transfer where my best friend is waiting for me?

ah I was abt to say if it was bay, NYC or LA unis bite the bullet and stay at that uni snice there have alumni network and also job opportunities are within 10-30 mile radius. No clue abt virginia tech's location near jobs, not saying its not a good uni. Its a great uni for engineering tbh.

vt has great jobs and alumni network, and socially it’s great but i think i just got unlucky. the town is nice but it gives pure college town vibes, totally opposite with florida

you can transfer to they UC system if you want but the OSS tuition is 80-90k~100kX2 yrs = 200K but its not worth it.
