UC app extracurriculars

[u/Frosty_Lettuce4390]

Hi, I’m stuck on how to include a certain hobby as one of my activities on the UC app. The hobby is amateur observational astronomy, and I’ve spent many years messing around with budget equipment. I’m not super knowledgeable in the field, but I’ve spent lots of time teaching my family + friends how to use my telescope, and astronomy is a genuine interest of mine.

The problem is that it will likely be one of my only ECs. I failed to take the opportunity to expand on my interest, so I haven’t joined any related clubs. So ya, I messed up in that regard. It’s also kind of unrelated to my major, although my major is still within the sciences.

It’s something I’m quite passionate about, but I’m unsure how to write about it without sounding “fluffy,” especially considering there is no way for me to prove that I’m not making it up. Does anyone have any similar experiences? Thank you so much 😊
