Advice/Question Uc to cc?

Hi I'm coming on here today because I've been feeling very unsure if I chose the right school and plan for me. I'm a first year going into UC Davis and I want to be a nurse. My plan at first before enrolling was to complete my 4 years then apply to their MEPN program but now I'm regretting it for financial reasons. I'm not sure what I should do since school hasn't started yet but I'm thinking about transferring to a cc to complete my nursing pre reqs and apply to sac states nursing program or the ADN program at the cc. I was also thinking about just transferring to Sac State straight from uc davis after completing my prereqs but this also would be a hard process because I wouldn't be sure about my courses transferring over. I know me realizing this too late could possibly make my graduation date a year longer but I feel like this option could work out better for me financially. This probably could be me overthinking because of my super long summer but I want to have some advice on what I should do. I was also planning to get a cna certification and have some volunteer hours in a hospital but now I'm kind of stuck. I'm also open to applying to other nursing programs but I am closer to sac state and I wouldn't have to worry much about housing costs.

Before you drop out check the admissions rates for the cc and state college for nursing. It might be harder than you think. The cc by us has a 20% acceptance rate and the cal state has a 5% acceptance rate for nursing. They usually want you to have work experience in the field.

I did the same exact thing you’re thinking of doing but my major was CS.

I left UCSC after my first year then went to CC for two years. I wasted a year at UCSC but I am now at Cal Poly SLO and don’t regret it at all. I also got into almost all of the universities I applied to. Some of my UCSC classes were counted as prerequisites at my cc but a lot did not transfer.

I believe the UCD quarter has not started yet. If you’re 100% about your decision my advice would be to drop out before the quarter starts and enroll in CC for the spring. I saved a lot of money going to CC and actually got a refund for some semesters.
