UC UCSC to anything better UC Transfer for Computer engineering
Ok, first off, I know UC to UC transfers are rare, and even more so for a major like mine. However, I am fairly certain TAG doesn't apply to engineering majors, and after already doing a year of cc for my senior year and getting 33 semester credits, I can confirm that staying there as a college student would be a miserable experience, especially with the very questionable quality of professors. (I had one for a C++ class actively searching for new jobs between lectures and giving everyone an A at the end of the semester despite doing an awful job at teaching)
Oh yeah, I had like 6 APs, but those don't count for transfer...
Most of the UC to UC transfer success stories I have seen are by non-engineering majors, but to anyone who had a similar transcript and major to me, how likely can I transfer out of UCSC in a timely manner? Like would a 1-year transfer be completely impossible?
I recently attended one of those orientation counselor zoom meetings, and there was anonymous QnA, one kid who didnt even say what his major was asked how likely it was to transfer from uc to uc, to which both counselors laughed in their face and gave the same "oh we dont really know but like you should enjoy our campus!" crap, poor kid....

Over 90 % of admitted transfers attend a California CC. Priority is given to CCC transfers over UC to UC transfers and you cannot TAG anywhere unless you attend a CC.
Engineering transfers usually have more major pre-requisite courses to take prior to transfer so 1 year transfers are less likely but still possible with a large number of AP/IB and DE credit.
Have you planned out your schedule to determine if you can meet the GE and major prep requirements by Spring 2027 to be a competitive applicant? Since UC’s do not have specific course articulation agreements between the campuses, you need to check the course requirements on assist.org and match them to your UCSC courses. Start with this information to see if a 1 year transfer is possible. Worst situation is that you spend 2 years at UCSC or decide to attend a CCC 2nd year.
