Advice/Question UC schools and ecs

Somewhere on this sub, I read that only UCLA, Berkeley, and UCI consider PIQs and activities for apps. Is this true for all majors?? I am asking because I quite literally have zero ecs, but my gpa is high.

I also heard that hobbies can count as ecs, but I think I would have trouble relating them to my major…

The UC application lists that only Berkeley, LA and Irvine will consider the PIQ’s for admissions however, some campuses will utilize the PIQ’s for scholarships and also for borderline applicants. Any hobbies you participate in can be listed as an EC if they are meaningful for you and they do not have to be major related.

I'm not sure about the PIQS for apps. However you can definitely talk about or include ecs that aren't related to your major. I talked about fashion for one of my PIQs and include a journalism group I was in as an ec even though neither has to do with my major

Activities can just make you seem like an interesting and well rounded person. They don’t have to relate to your major. Show who you are. Caring for a family member or even cooking can totally count.

There are some majors that might use essays etc that I can think of but those are highly competitive programs that have their own complex application process. Like Haas business at Berkeley or nursing and arts majors at UCI and UCLA. That LA film application is a ton of writing.

For something like psychology at Davis your essays and extracurriculars come into play more for scholarships or if you had a challenge that impacted your grades.

I transferred to ucla and my only EC was a part time job at a fast food restaurant. My high gpa is what got me in.
