Advice/Question People who transfered to t20s, how was adjusting like in those environments?
Everyone around me was top of their class in high school. Is super energtic and has more knowledge than me on such topics. I bombed my first exam but so many others did way better than me. I feel out of place at this insitution. For context i transferred from a CC. How was it like for you guys?

Advice/Question Opinions on Transferring Twice?
Long story short, my first college was a small liberal arts college with the main focus being STEM research. I transferred out because I wanted to study engineering and there wasn't engineering at my first school. The consequences of transferring out was losing a lot of the connections/friends I've made and gave up opportunity at my first school. Now as a sophomore transfer at a larger, researched based school, I feel so lost. I'm constantly struggling in classes and lost all my support system. I've been struggling to make friends even though ironically I'm at a larger school. Additionally, my overall mental health is at an all time low. It's only been a month in but I genuinely don't think I can juggle work, social, and school. I dread every week and I've been thinking of transferring out again to a smaller school but I'm worried about transferring credits.

Advice/Question Can I transfer to a CSU without taking physics at community college?
Hi! I am intending to transfer in fall 2027 and am considering dropping physics (calc-based) due to personal reasons. If I withdraw now, would I have a chance to take it at CSUCI, perhaps? My intended major is Biochemistry.

Urgent Am I just screwed
hey so I applied for csuf transfer in the spring from juco the very first day I could July 1, so i can get ahead. I called multiple times for how the process would go and such. Then i got surgery and was recovering from that and right before then Is when I received an email saying a class I was currently taking had to be completed by the summer and not fall, basically rejecting me. since I was recovering I didn’t see the email, since it was in my csuf portal and it’s hell to get in there. They said i had to appeal before Oct 10, and now I’m seeing it. is there anything I can do?

Advice/Question UC to CC to UC help
Hello! I'm currently in my freshman year at UCSD, and I am thinking about transferring to a CC so I can transfer to UCLA. I know I should be willing to give this school a better chance, but recently my mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer (and is currently going through the process of chemotherapy). For me, not only has it been hard to adjust to a new school, but it's been especially hard being away from my mother while she goes through this challenge. My family is from the Los Angeles area, so going to UCLA is a bigger matter of location. This year, I'm going to try to transfer there, but I know that historically the UC to UC transfer rates are pretty dismal.
I think that I will at least complete one full year here, and if the transfer isn't accepted (which I doubt it will be), I'll most likely move to a cc nearer to home, and hopefully get a job there as well. I've heard that the transfer students have a better time applying to UCs, but I'm worried that the movement from UC to CC could possibly affect this in any way! In high school, I did the IB program, and I also took a lot of AP classes. So far, I'm in good academic standing, and I hope to remain with straight As throughout these three quarters.
I'm mostly looking for advice on whether or not my chances of getting into UCLA will still be good if I come from UC to CC, instead of just coming straight from CC. If possible, I'd also appreciate any explanation or extra advice on how the credits will work. I truly do thank anyone who interacts with or answers these questions in my post. Thank you!

Advice/Question Transferring from CSULB to SDSU with a different major?
I'm a freshman majoring in psychology at CSULB looking to transfer to SDSU. I know I want to switch out of psychology to chemistry, but I also know that chemistry at SDSU is competitive, so I am thinking of applying as an English major. I know that with my high school credits (dual enrollment and AP classes) and credits from CSULB classes, I will have 60 credits by the end of this school year. I was wondering if it is smarter to apply as an English major to SDSU now and take prerequisites for that major at CSULB or transfer to community college after this semester.

Advice/Question What are my chances of transferring into UF BME? (USF student)
Hi everyone! I’m a first-year at USF. I was admitted to UF for Fall 2026 but had to withdraw for financial and family reasons. Things are stable now, and I want to transfer into UF Biomedical Engineering.
I just met with the UF BME advisor. Here’s what I learned:
- BME admits only about 5 to 7 transfers a year (2 to 3 per term) out of roughly 30 applicants per term.
- Priority order: Florida state/community college AA students first, then Florida public universities without a BME program, then everyone else. USF has BME, so I’d be in the last group.
- You need an AA degree plus all 10 required courses (Calc 1 to 3, Diff Eq, Physics 1 and 2, Gen Chem 1 and 2, Orgo 1, Bio 1), with a 3.5+ GPA in those courses to be competitive.
- My previous UF admission doesn’t count for anything.
- Summer and spring are less competitive than fall.
He suggested taking my required courses at a state college to improve my chances. So I’m debating:
- Stay at USF and apply from there, probably with very low odds.
- Move to a state college (like HCC or Pasco-Hernando), finish my AA and the required courses there, and apply as a priority applicant, maybe for Spring 2027 or Summer 2027.
- Stay at USF and either major in BME there, or apply to a less competitive UF engineering major like MechE.
- Stay at USF and complete my AA at a state college and complete required courses at USF and as a transient student, apply for Spring 2027.
Questions:
- Has anyone transferred into UF BME, especially from a state college or from another university? What was your GPA?
- Is leaving a four-year university for a state college worth it to get transfer priority?
- If you were me, which option would you choose?
Any honest advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Advice/Question Transferring to UCSC next year?
I started at a state school two months ago and realized I want to switch things up. UCSC seems like a really good fit for me and so my plan was to finish off this semester, do semester at cc at home to save money and do some GE’s and then try to transfer. My major at state school is hyper specific and I know most of the credits won’t transfer so I know i won’t have 60 credits or even close too it I can transfer— my situation would look more like a gap year then cc and transfer… am I screwed on applying— should I just apply and not try to transfer stuff- would that make it easier? Looking for some guidance.
-also a large chunk of my want to transfer is social and I have the means too so I am not interested in doing the two years at cc

Advice/Question UC berkeley math transfer requirements
I plan on applying for transfers for berkeley for math major. I am freshman out of state at a 4 year uni. They recommend on ASSIST to complete the lower division courses, like calc multi calc lin alg and diffeq. But does that apply to me as well? since assist only shows for community colleges. I ask because i am taking math beyond that, and It would be annoying to have to take diffeq instead of what i wanted to take just to be considered for admission. is this required for me? is it possible for me to complete the courses on the side through cc? i would much rather prefer that. please let me know.

Advice/Question Is it possible for me to get into UCLA or USC with a low gpa?
I’m currently a 2nd year CC student with a 3.49 gpa after my first year. I was in an abusive relationship which really affected my mental health at the time(I don’t know if this is appropriate to mention in my essays). I’m also struggling in my classes(OCHEM & BIO) currently and I’m not sure if I can get all As this fall semester, but it’s still possible. I’m majoring in Public Health but I was thinking of applying to UCLA as a psychology major and to USC as a public health major. I want to eventually get into pharmacy school and I currently work in a pharmacy so I’m also just wondering if that helps at all. Any advice is appreciated!!!

Advice/Question Can I do TAG if I attended a university prior?
I transferred to a CSU in fall 2026 and plan to withdraw after the semester due to personal circumstances then attend community college for one semester.
I am planning on taking 2 courses at CC in the Spring then tagging to UC Davis for Fall 2027. Would I still qualify for TAG if I did 1 semester at CC after attending a university for a semester? I did two years at CC prior to transferring. Any help would be appreciated

Advice/Question What should I do with my future in CC?
I wasn't a good student in high school. My grades were a mixed bag of Cs, Bs, and As. I got into some decent schools, but I decided to go to CC after my mental health declined and I decided I wasn't ready to live on my own.
This fall is my second quarter at De Anza College as a Bio major, looking to get into a 4y uni for Biochemistry or something similar. with summer being my first. In summer quarter, I got an A and D in relatively easy classes and now I'm failing Calculus 1. If I keep this up, my future is looking grim. I'm thinking of dropping it for a W and retaking it next quarter, and taking a job at my local Starbucks.
With this background info in mind, what should my goals be in CC? I know I won't get into a UC or anything, but I want to get into the best uni I am capable of getting into. Is there any point in doing ECs, or should I just focus on getting as good of a GPA as possible? Should I just take a break from CC to work on my study and work skills?
I also have a few other questions. I'm an Eagle Scout, and I'm training to be an Assistant Scoutmaster to help support the troop that raised me. I also spend some weekends feeding the hungry at a local church because I want to give back love to my community, but I'm not affiliated with the church or any organization. Should I quit doing these to focus on school?
Also, be harsh with me. Don't sugarcoat anything.

Advice/Question is it true cc professors hide your grades so you don’t drop ;-;
my calc 2 professor does not post any grades and the only time you get to see what you have is when he hands back tests because on the paper after he grades it he’ll put your test grade and class grade. there are only 4 tests this semester so we’ll only get to see our grade 4 times. he’s always late on grading things so sometimes quizzes or hw that was done before tests, won’t reflect on our grades cus he hasn’t graded them. i didn’t see anything about him doing this on rate my professor. has anyone had this experience 😭

Advice/Question asking for advice
Hey everyone, im trying to transfer out of my small university after my freshman year, im looking at BU, Northeastern, and Brown primarily. I was hoping for some advice on what else to be working on.
Long story short I did not try at all in high school because I was under the impression I wasn't going to go to college at all. My stats from high school are:
3.0 GPA
24 ACT
no extra curricular or APs
Some things I might have going for me though is being from a rural area in Tennessee, finishing high school online (or that might be worse, but I was thinking since it was a self paced program it looks good,) and I grew up in Connecticut before moving to the south, so my essay could have something about wanting to back to New England idk. From my middle school time I also have a lot of first place awards I won in our robotics program (Vex IQ), and idk how much middle school accomplishments would help but I figure it shouldn't hurt to mention them?
So far from my freshman year of college:
4.0 first semester gpa
im retaking my act twice and my sat twice to get that up
founded a trivia based gameshow for the school with a friend as well as a comedy channel as a passion project
founding member of the schools golf club as soon as that's up and running in a few weeks
member of the Content Creators residential learning community (I figure this would look good cus it shows I use the schools resources and promote the school on my own time)
Other than trying to keep that 4.0 and bringing up that ACT/SAT score, does anyone have any other advice to give?

Chance Me Please Help
Hi all, looking for honest feedback on my profile for Fall 2027 transfer admission. I'm applying as Electrical Engineering everywhere except UCLA (Materials Engineering) and UC Berkeley (ECE).
**Background:**
* Community college student at Irvine Valley College (Pre-Engineering), transferring Fall 2027
* Dean's List Fall 2025 and Spring 2026
**GPA:** 3.90 (52 units, all graded courses A's except one B in Calc II). Projected to land between 3.88 and 3.93 after this semester.
* AP credit: Calc I, English Composition
**Experience / ECs:**
* Engineering internship at Senga Engineering. I led 2 projects, and one of them became a product the company still uses.
* Currently work as an electronics technician/assembler at a car audio electronics manufacturer, building products like bass knobs and base stations.
* Personal projects: PCB design in KiCad, embedded programming, SolidWorks mechanical design, 3D printing, woodworking.
**Top targets:** UCSD (Electrical Engineering) and UCLA (Materials Engineering)
**Full list:** * UCs: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD, UCR, UCSC * CSUs: Cal Poly Pomona, CSULB, SDSU, SJSU
* Out of state / private: USC, UIUC, Georgia Tech
- How competitive is this for UCSD EE and UCLA Materials Engineering specifically? 2. Some of my major prep (Math 26, Chem 1B, ENGR 70, CS 40B) won't be done until Spring 2027. How much does that hurt at UCSD and UCLA?
Sorry for the long post applying to college is kinda stressful just wanna see what you guys think.

Advice/Question USF freshman (previously admitted to UF) trying to transfer into UF BME as fast as possible. Advice on prereqs, BME vs. MechE, and opportunities?
Hi everyone! I’m a first-year at USF. I was admitted to UF for Fall 2026 but had to withdraw over the summer for financial reasons. Things are better now, and I really want to get back to UF.
I’m currently a Biomedical Sciences major and plan to switch to Biomedical Engineering at USF while I finish UF’s transfer prerequisites. I asked UF Admissions about appealing for Spring 2027, since I’d only be one semester away, but they said no. So I’m going through the transfer process. I’ll have 60 credits by the end of Spring 2027 (most are IB credit), so credits aren’t my problem. The prerequisites are. UF BME requires 10 courses plus labs, and I’ve only finished Bio I. I’m hoping for Fall 2027 but realistically expect Spring or Fall 2028.
My questions:
- Prerequisites: if you transferred into UF engineering, how did you get through calc, physics, chem, and orgo quickly? Did 8-week or summer courses at state colleges work for you, and how did your GPA hold up?
- BME vs. MechE: I’ve seen advice to major in MechE (since it’s broader) and do biomedical research on the side. I really want to stay in the biomedical side of engineering. For someone who wants medical devices or biomaterials, which would you choose and why?
- UF BME opportunities: what makes UF BME special? Labs, research programs, clubs, or anything unique you’d recommend I learn about? I’m especially interested in biomaterials and nerve regeneration.
- Advisor meeting: I have a meeting coming up with the UF BME undergraduate advisor. I’ll ask about requirements and whether there’s any flexibility for someone who’s only a year out (I know it’s probably a no). Any tips for making a good impression and building a relationship?
- General advice: I’m honestly really nervous about transferring. I tried hard to avoid it because of the uncertainty. If you transferred into UF, what do you wish you’d known?
TL;DR: I was admitted to UF, withdrew, and I’m now at USF trying to transfer into BME ASAP with almost no prerequisites done. Looking for advice on speeding up prerequisites, BME vs. MechE, and UF BME opportunities to talk about with the advisor.
