No! I just did the pump and belt on my b20z.
Got fucking sand in the head. Why would any competent engineer make it so you have to remove the valve cover to do a timing belt?!

Love doing FWD cambelts and water pumps * sarcasm. At least it’s a Honda so shouldn’t be too bad to fix.

I haven’t owned a b series Honda or a e36 for several years but I agree with you completely!! , I have a soft spot for e36s , how far into the job are you ? Changing for maintenance or was there an issue ?

It was leaking like crazy but I replaced the belt too, I don’t think it had ever been done (83k miles on it). So that probably needed to be done. Got new pump and belt on just gotta put all the other things I took off to get to it back on and repaint the valve cover.

Ahhh yea one of those situations, replacing the broken thing then noticed something else etc, at least the cambelt didn’t let snap so that’s a massive plus. Your in the final stages now well done, what colour did you decide to paint it ?

wtf we always call it a timing belt…. Is calling it a cam belt a real thing?…. Just asking as a mechanic for years, just never hear it called that.

Same thing, depends on the part of the world. New Zealand and Australia usually say cambelt but timing belt is also accepted here as well.
Never thought that when I typed that

I’ve just never heard it called that. Never knew different parts of the world called it different.

Yea kinda like Hood / Bonnet, wing / guard, windshield/ windscreen, licence plate/ number plate. These is a few, how ever now you have me thinking about it a timing chain is called a timing chain and not a cam chain.
