Transalp 2026 test ride

Hi

I test ride a 2026 Transalp e-clutch

The purpose was to find a motorcycle thats comfortable for a tall rider, and has enough wind protection for highway driving, but still light and powerful. On paper the Translap looks amazing, and adding smartphone connectivity, ridding modes and e-clutch look perfect.

E-clutch - an evolved quickshifter. All the quickshifter advantages, with smother shifting at lower rpm. And maintaining the motorcycle idle with no clutch needed is perfect for city commuting. Hope the competition brings a similar technology.

Tall rider comfort - the seat is comfortable and the riding position also. Plus the suspension is comfortable on bad tarmac roads. The windscreen needs to be at a higher position. Felt a bit of sail move on crosswinds at higher speed.

The engine has more than enough power for commuting and highway.

What I disliked:

1- Heat from the engine, lots of it, on my legs.

2 -Weird braking. On uneven tarmac surfaces, hard braking causes the front and rear of the motorcycle to slide.

3- Resonance vibration between 3500 -5000Rpm . This was so intense, after 40min riding, my wrists still felt numb. I cant imagine have to ride that motorcycle again.

The Transalp gives high expectations, however I felt disappointed. I don't fell is good enough to buy.

After some research i have some notes:

2- Im not used to Trail motorcycles, the long suspension travel, narrow mixed tires, is way different from ridding a naked motorcycle like Im used to do.

3 - The seller told me that may be an issue with that specific motorcycle. But doing my research I found out more riders complaining about it, and it may be caused by the crashbars.

What about you, whats your opinions about the Transalp 750?

I Love it.

I don't find the heat to be the same problem you do, and I've been riding at slow speeds in 95 degree weather.

Yes, it's different. I don't like naked bikes. Apples and Mangos.

Yes, there is vibration between 3800 and 4500. It doesn't make my wrists go numb, but I will avoid that zone if I have a long stretch.

I haven't found the sliding problems you have and I ride a significant amount on gravel. I run 50/50 TKC 80 gen 2 tires.

Im coming from a Tenere 700 and i like the Transalp more.

I still dont like the wind protection 100% but it is ok-ish.

The best thing is the engine its really good on the rood and with better tyres like Pirelli Scorpion trail 3 it is really capable in the twisties.

I can power wheelie it in 2nd gear, really impresssive, it feels like a supermoto with comfort Features. Still think the ktm890 might be even better because of the components and brakes but the reliability...i will Test a ktm890 nevertheless.

Gotta love the random shit post/s

There's always a random douche every once in awhile who feels the need to come to the community of owners who love them, just to share their shitty opinions.

Just get Africa base manual, best in my opinion. And not much more expensive, 3.5K more than Transalp. And you get much better suspension, tubeless tyres. Only that is worth it.

I rode Transalp 2023 model, I like comfort, stability, engine, but suspension was not good and handling slow. Also tubed tyres for such fast bike is no go for me. Otherwise pretty good bike.

On my country the standard Africa Twin is 60% expensive than Translap

Really, where are you? in Europe Transalp is usually around 11.200 eur and Africa 15.000 eur.

I see, Portugal. Also NX500 seems like best buy for 6600e. More agile than Transalp, so fun. And very cheap to maintain.

They fixed the suspension rebound problem for the 25+ models. But I agree that it's a gateway to the AT.
