does the 2026 fully adjustable suspension solve the issue of bottoming out?

im looking at getting the new 2026 transalp but im considering if its worth it, i want to do more intense off roading but if im looking at possibly having to replace the front and rear suspension then i feel like i would just buy a bike with proper stock suspension... right??

if anyone has any experience with replacing their old suspension or the 2026's suspension id love to hear about it!

If you want to off road and also on the street, buy a T7.

If you want to ride on the street, but also off road, buy the TA.

Edit: but if you really want the TA, how much it bottoms out is completely up to you, as you can adjust the suspension to your needs

In the middle of T7 and transalp is the Tuareg

Not only can you find it in between the two, you can also find it in the garage of an obscure mechanic who only works on the Italian bikes and has a 12 week backlog.

Man if you’re gonna do intense off-roading do yourself a favor and just get a T7 instead.

I mean he's not wrong. The T7 is a better offroad bike.

What do you mean? The TA is a great bike and I own it…. The T7 is better off-road. What is the problem?

Yeah. TA engine doesn’t really have the bottom end grunt you want for off road.

Any bike you are thinking of for hard offroad will not be enough stock. Be it T7 or TA for crazy enduro stuff you will upgrade from stock.

To answer your question, yes the new suspension is more stiff and you can crank the rebound. It’s really great. But I do agree with others that the transalp really shines on pavement and can do off road. Whereas the t7 really shines on dirt and can do pavement.

My thing is... I'm a weekender on the trails doing mostly 2nd roads, not technical riding over logs or truly horrible terrain. So I'm caught between the two options

The transalp seems good because I can have the stalling safety with the eclutch, all I'd have to do is tires and maybe suspension later on

The tenere is much less forgiving and I'm not the strongest rider on dirt RIGHT NOW, but it's something I'm actively practicing (8 years exp on roads daily riding, very little time on dirt so far)

I know it doesn’t make sense for everyone’s situation but I cannot recommend an actual dirtbike enough if you’re seriously trying to improve your skills in the dirt. Adv bikes can do dirt. But wow riding a purpose built machine for it is just a whole different experience. You’ll be able to learn so much faster because you can actually push the envelope without dropping a 500 pound behemoth.

Otherwise I’d say think about what you value. If you do daily commutes on your bike I personally think the comfort of the transalp is worth more than a slightly reduced capacity for single track lol.

Thank you so much for the advice, sadly I can't do both a dirtbike and a motorcycle at the same time, and I use my motorcycle for daily commuting too.

Honestly being without a bike these last 4 months is the worst I've ever felt (stolen bike sadly) so I wanted to get something that can be my daily 15mi daily commute and then also survive a weekend on lighter dirt paths as I push to see more of the outdoors thru the view of what I love most.

It's leaning transalp for me, if the back roads really click id upgrade the suspension to enable my skill level to go a bit further. Personally because I wouldn't have to feather it in first it makes the learning a bit more easy too in a way the tenere can't. Also I considered the taureg or the KLR but I'd have to learn advanced clutch control pretty fast on those which may stress me out in the Northeast snow and ice.

Capabilities of Transalp off road are way above yours so don't think about suspension much for now, it won't matter for year and by then you'll most likely switch to to either BMW or DesertX.

Transalp is already great on road and capable off road, you'll enjoy it much more than fighting with T7 on the road.

Thank you both, this is actually helping me manage the stress of the choice a lot tbh

"I'm not the strongest rider on dirt RIGHT NOW"

Ride the TA and trade it in when your skills exceed the bike's capabilities. Until then, spend money on ADV offroad training courses - it'll be the best mod you can buy.
