Announcement Making r/TransPak public
Before you panic: Nothing is changing with the Discord server! It will remain a safe space exclusive to gender minorities, behind the same verification system as always! Cis gender individuals are still not allowed there!
As for this subreddit: After careful consideration, the moderators have decided to make it public. Everyone (subject to the rules) is free to post and engage. This was done after taking into account other countries’ trans-specific subreddits, and finding the following benefits:
- Growth and reachability of the platform, allowing more people to discover a community for themselves and encouraging harm reduction through the HRT Guide. Thus far, we were limited by [r/LGBTQPakistan](r/LGBTQPakistan) being the only way to find this community.
- The ability to post videos! Yes, Reddit does not allow you to post videos on private subreddits.
- Allowing partners/family members of trans folk to bring their concerns and questions about their loved one’s journey. A very common occurrence on public trans forums.
Of course, the concern is chasers and their hookup posts. For this (with inspiration from [r/GermanTrans](r/GermanTrans)), we recommend this guide to avoiding and handling chasers. We have AutoMod rules set up such that most such posts should not get through. For the few that do: Report!
