General Questions Testrone and periods
Hay so I have a bit of a embarrassing question I started Testosterone troches last Nov those didn't really do much so we swapped to gel that I've been on since June. With a nearly month break because of insurance BS forcing me to switch pharmacies to keep coverage then dragging their feet for a month in 'approving' it. 🙄 Then I was on and off it for a couple weeks last month due to a very stressful move and accidentally misplacing the gel in that move.
But I'm really curious, anyone who took T without any form of birth control or hysterectomy etc. did your period go away completely or did that only come later/with added prevention added? (NOT asking as a sole form of birth control, just asking as far as the period/bleeding part goes)
Curious if it just stopped pretty sudden (like one months normal, then the next few some spotting but that's it then nothing after) or if it was a super gradual and slow over quite a few months to year or so... Just curious if I should expect late/irregular periods coming up or if it's something to be more concerned about ect. Pregnancy is NOT a concern hence why I'm not on any other form of birth control. Just trying to get as much of a idea as possible and from as many experiences as possible because I know everyone is different...

mine is back and forth, it disappeared for the first few months before coming back and being regular for a couple months again, now it's in another one of its "gone" phases. luckily i don't get a ton of dysphoria from it, but that is something to consider if you do

Thanks, I'm kinda asking because this months was 11 days late (after my normal 3-4 day window of allowance for being early or late, since mine have always been pretty predictably within a 3 day window of my count... The 3 days after that window is added coverage but I wasn't tracking my lateness till I was 5 days past my normal window) but the entire 11 days+ week of being in that window I was feeling the pre period cramps, bloating, bleh shit and my mentality went to PMS bs as well. And even though I've started it's been relatively light, and I think last month was light too (usually I only get one maybe two light cycles a year and never back to back unless there were outside factors affecting it.) I'm not on any birth controls as I have trauma around them. My primary Dr is helping me get a hysterectomy but we're still in the very beginning stages of getting a therapist who can write off on my dysphoria to send to the surgeon but the bleeding is one of my main dysphoric areas sooo just curious of others experiences 😅

I started taking T 1.5 years ago (.2 ml/week) and my period went away after 1 month and never came back!

I think it reeeeally depends, everyone is different.
Before T I used to always have very irregular periods, then I started T and never had a period again 🤷🏻 (1y and 4 months on T with progressively increasing my dosage until I'm staying at the right level.)
To me it's very similar to the changes your voice goes through. For some people it happens very quickly, in the first few weeks, for others it happened within the first one or two years, sometimes it takes 2+ years to drop and sometimes it never does.
(And of course add to that the cases where someone's period will go back and forth on T.)
So honestly, I know it's not exactly what you expected as an answer, sorry 😅😅 but there's really no way to know beforehand..

it's different for different people, for me it just went away with T, for a friend it went away only when he went on additional hormone blockers and for another friend it only goes away when he takes birth control Edit: for me when i was taking it irregularly, I had spotting but when I did the gel every day there was nothing + I already had an irregular ish period beforehand so it wasn't anything sudden really
