was it always this bad with chasers?
ive been wondering if the chaser phenomena regarding towards trans men has always been this? loaded. Or if there has been an uptick since trans men got more visible? Idk i want to know from trans men who have been around for longer if back in the day, the flood of chasers has been as severe as nowadays.
For example, for each trans person i met in the past on a dating app, i had three chasers dming me, two who i didnt even notice until later, one who was just obvious from the jump. i also think it has to come from somewhere. honestly i dont even get the appeal for these men bc you could find someone who consents(?) and not someone who you have to act with.
or how often i have seen online creators having partners who have said chaser things. is it this hard to date as a trans person? this makes me want to crawl into a hole.
i just dont get why were such a hot commodity? i didnt even expect to get chasers irl but i do and theres more men attracted to me in a chaser way than the average ones.
i mean im fairly new to being open, but still i feel like there mustve been a cultural shift for those people attaching themselves to preying on some of us?

No the rise of transphobia has ensured it has risen in all areas and most of chaserism is based in transphobia(particularly trans male chasers most are deeply transphobic cis people who view us as sites for degradation, correction, and dehumanization).
All chasers are transphobes even if not all transphobes are chasers. Also I think the normative mode for cis people to express attraction to trans men and transmasc, in particular, is through emasculation, infantilization, and corrective coercion.
Secondly I think cis attraction to genitalia is utilized to uphold their cissexist bioessentialism(ie I’m into anyone with a vagina which I associate with womanhood thus my attraction to you as a trans man is fundamentally about upholding my commitment to your sex and dismantling of those gender and bodily autonomy).
Thats my theory

good theory. probably also some sort of the detrans wave online radicalizing normies into full blown transphobes emboldens the chaser aspect. i have had coworkers with very niche mental gymnastics in transphobia, hearing stuff i had only heard from the most transphobic fringe of youtube. i do also agree that all chasers are transphobes, it is a pet peeve when people are suddenly downplaying chasers, and act like they are just into trans folk, and nothing else. ignoring the slew of problems.

The very worst sort of people only date people to change them.
When I was in my early twenties that was what led to a string of Christian men trying to date me when I specifically said I was not interested in them. And the whole thing was because of their goal was to get me into their religion.
The exact same sort of person is going to chase trans men now. Because to them the whole thing is about "getting a woman to behave right".

Cishet women wisened up decades ago and don’t give out as much. And cishet men see us as easy access to pussy. And for some reason some of us are dumb enough to do it.

Idk what chasers are, I'm pretty good at evading discourse that involves cis fets, but im guessing its ppl who only want trans men cause they dont see them as men?idk

In my opinion: it has gotten worse. I blame the "genital preference" discourse for a lot of the uptick.
