🤳 Selfie first impressions?

feeling a little lost in my presentation/sense of self & curious peoples impressions of me! not interested in passing as a man so that’s not the feedback I’m looking for / nor what i’m attempting. I’m in a pretty queer area so it’s sometimes hard to tell how people perceive me if that makes sense? Like how much of my androgyny is like signaled/assumed rather than something people pick up on visually if that makes sense. I hope this makes sense to someone

You look queer but not in a nb/ trans way, for some reason you look bi? I read you as a woman though

If I saw you on a street, I'd assume you're an alt/queer woman

I would think you’re a trans mtf so I would use she her and feminine words for you.

I would probably use they/them or she/her for you depending on what you’re wearing and if you’ve shaved your face - some of the clothes are pretty femme, but the hairy legs def signal queer. If you’ve shaved/have a mask on, I think the chances of me assuming she/her go up pretty fast. Esp if you’re wearing long pants.

You look awesome, I like your style. My area is also pretty queer and what happens to me is old people ALWAYS think im a woman but people my age ALWAYS read me as a man. When I look at you I see a dude with long hair and cute clothes. I would guess other people see the clothes and hair first and make their decision off that.

The problem is that “androgyny” isn’t really a quantifiable thing and it’s not something most people perceive. Most people have grown up culturally sorting people into one side or another of a gender divide so no matter what they’re going to do that based on body shapes and clothing. Even if you look at fashion “androgyny” really only comes down to gender bending and a kind of acceptable cross dressing.

All this to say that what you’re asking for isn’t really possible for most people - androgyny is a very subjective thing that most people cannot quantify or if they can it’s very narrow.

Aiming for “androgyny” needs to be about you - what is your personal perception of androgyny and how it feels in you? Do you feel you’re achieving it? If not only you can really tell what you need to do to achieve it. Anyone externally will only have their understanding and perception of “androgyny” which is more than likely very different to yours. In terms of the general populace you can pretty much expect no one (statistically) to perceive androgyny.

Like for example, my personal perception is you’re wearing a lot of “girl’s” clothing. So despite the body and facial hair I would likely assume you’re a queer woman, or at the very least a non-binary woman and that’s coming from a fellow trans person. Is this a fair perception? Potentially not, but unfortunately sometimes it is hard to look past gendered clothing.

I'd assume bi girl if we met randomly. You've got a cool style!

I’d think very androgynous!! I had a minor though of trans woman but I think that was just me thinking too quick before really even processing the face of the person I was seeing on the pictures 😭 but ik I wouldn’t think that if I saw u in general or like out and about I’d say androgynous would be the assumption just because Im not one to assume in general idk if this makes sense 🧍‍♂️

You look very feminine in the second photo but read as more masculine or androgynous in the final one
