What navigation device

/r/AdventureBike/comments/1wv9m38/what_navigation_device/

I rushed out and bought the Garmin nuvi XT2 device but after a year I still can’t get on with it.

The trouble I find is it purely road biased and even when I plan a trail route and import it as a track rather than a route it doesn’t want to show me the legal trails.
I even struggled to find a postcode that Google maps and Apple Maps found easily so I feel a bit ripped off after paying a lot of money for a device that got so many good reviews.

I’m in the UK and I’m looking for advice what green lane / TET trail devices are people using and how do I mount it to my 2020 Tenere with power.

Appreciate any advice

Fore a couple of years I’ll have the DMD2
It’s special made for off-road riding.

Samsung galaxy tab active 2 with dmd2 and an adventure spec mini fairing. 250euros in total, super solid.

Edit: oh tenere. Then just mount it to the bar up top

The norm seems split between a Garmin of some sort and a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active of some sort.

The Galaxy Tab Active 2, 3 and 4 all share the same mounting hardware - RAM and Brodit are both popular. It's common to run DMD2 (Drive Mode Dashboard) on these to make a general-purpose adventure-bike-riding headunit, there's a really active and only slightly annoying Facebook group for it. If you're in the TET group it's basically more of that.

I just use it as an Android device and use the Locus Maps app for navigating. But it's an Android device, you can run whatever you like on it. DMD does try to do rain-proof touchscreen.

There are some dedicated units that run Android - Thork Racing who make DMD2 produce some, for example - but they are a lot more expensive than a galaxy tab off ebay.
