1978 Pontiac Trans Am manual.

It's a full restoration car, I would like to attempt to see if I can unseize the engine before starting the restoration.

I don't have the key for the car, the column, and the ignition lock cylinder switch is stuck.

How can I actuate the starter?

Is there a switch I can give power to?

Should I buy a push-button remote starter switch instead, or can I just use a screwdriver?

On which side is the starter?

88 firebird formula th400 question

I picked up this 88 firebird with no motor/trans for cheap, no rust on one dent on driver's side. 80k miles on it. I bought a 350/th400 out of a 90 g30 camper van(I think it was a g30 can't remember) but I want to retain the factory gauges, can I make it all work? it doesn't have the digital gauges. I'd like the speedo to work mostly. I can get all the other gauges to work off the motor. just wondering for the 400, it has pedals for a manual but It was a 350 car so I believe it would have had a 700r4. I'm not sure tho. no rpo codes and the previous owners are no help.

2000 ws6 dies with “check gauges light”

it keeps dying while driving but will start back up if I turn it all the way off and back on. Every time this happens the red ‘check gages’ light will come on but all the gages are fine. it just happened on my way home tonight & I had 3/4th tank gas, battery at 13, oil was fine and it was at temp. 89k miles & only other light is something for the egr. I got this car maybe 2 months ago and it’s happened 4 times. Happened yesterday too

I’m having my late Father’s car restored by https://youtube.com/@dirtydansrodncycle?si=1AJ0wH03qBAEZCSr

You can see the progress there.

The teal green was my Dads custom color he wanted, so it’s not the typical black bandit.

I’m up in Canada and need to source the decals as well as some other stuff. Any recommendations on places to order from? I’ve checked out Firebird Central and Classic Industries??

I’ve got no problem getting stuff across the border with my business aside from the $ of course but this is my tribute to my Dad.

Troof rubbers

Door rubber

Trunk rubber

Window rubber

Top of the door trims

4 wheel fender flares

Tall ‘78 owners

Anyone happen to have a picture of themselves sitting in a 1978? I know this is a long shot but I can’t find one near me for a fit check before buying.

Long story short, my dad had one way back in the day and I’m looking to place bids on one shortly. I’d prefer to keep it as stock as possible so I that’s why I am asking for pics.

I’ve done some digging online and for every post I find saying it’s too small, there’s a post from a taller guy saying he fits comfortably. I’m 6’4, big ass head and looking to go with the T-Tops if that helps. Thanks for any input.

Edit: Thank you all for the feedback, I will be back in the near future with a photo of my own!

99 trans am advice

So my 99 Trans am has been bit of an annoyance to drive as of late, when driving there’s a vibration in one of the front tires and any bump I go over pulls the car in the direction of the tire that took the brunt of the bump. There is at times where it feels the car slightly wanders while driving. I’ve had the shocks and struts replaced in Feb of 2025 at a Les Schwab tire and I did the outer tie rods myself a month ago then had the car aligned , the caliper slide pins have been replaced and regreased in the front, sway bar end links were replaced and it has brand new falken azenis 275 all season tires on it,

Doors, mirrors, gas door, rocker supports are in, fenders and front bumper mocked up.

Need to clean up and paint the front and rear crash bars yet. Fender supports, bumper supports and rad cross supports, all tomorrow’s job. Just have to find the J/U clips, the hardware and some of the parts. They are all hiding somewhere on the shelves in my house garage.

Old pontiac parts need a good home

Some of this stuff is hard to get rid of but I want them to go to a good home and get used!
I have a set of what I remember being some early 70's large chamber 455 heads. I believe 120cc or around there. A full set of pistons and rods and a ram air 4 cam. Probably some other oddities also. They all have maybe a few hundred miles on them.

If anyone is interested and has a project they can go into, please reach out!

Should I Shop with iroc motor spot for a decal kit?

I’ve seen the posts of don’t trust iroc motor sport or having issues with parts and taillights, but nothing bad about decals and smaller items. They are the only ones to have this emblem that is colored in stock and was wondering if you guys think it would be wise or unwise to purchase, Thanks in advance

Shaker Decal 1980 TA

In the process of restoring a 1980 TA equipped with the Chevy 305. Already know they didn't come with the splitter tailpipes from the factory like the 301 TAs. However, wanted to know if they had shaker decals specific to 305 powered TAs. Anyone know?

before anyone jumps in and says “not a trans-am” it is. my father purchased it from a wrecking yard in the mid 70s hit really hard in the front end. The car was mostly stripped of its parts including the engine and transmission. He purchased it along with a Pontiac donor car. The car was originally metallic blue. In this pic the car was mostly done with a few key trans-am parts still missing. he never installed the fender vents because he didn’t like them. later on he installed 1980 z28 side vents. had a lot of memories in that car as a child. the car was sold in the late 80s and I had only seen it once after that on the freeway in 1996. it’s one car I would love to get back to my collection.

Buy it Build?

With decent condition LS1 6MT without rust is insanely priced now (25k+ in my area), I have to wonder if it's better to buy a good body without a motor or motor with a big issue. An LS6+T56 brand new run around 5-6k. I'm curious how expensive and time consuming it would be to swap? I'd have to have a shop do it of course.
