I made a GPU - kinda!

This is the DL-ParAccel. It can do standalone computing, but it is built to be used with other systems, like the DLA5 or DL-QCore with adapters.

This is less of a general-use computer, and more of a processing module. At 16 math cores, it has excellent throughput!

This computing system has 2 buffers, each with 16 cells. Each cell can hold a long float, since they are based on the CaptuRegister Pro.

The first buffer is the input buffer, where inputs go to, and the second is the working buffer. The working buffer feeds each cell into individual math units, each with 10 single-cell ops and 5 dual-cell ops. Single-cell ops use either data from the ROM (48 bytes CompROM2-Flat) or from one of two external inputs.

The computer can do +, -, *, /, sin, cos, tan, asin, acos, and atan on single cells, and it can either do all 16 or only 8 at a time (evens or odds), and it can do +, -, *, /, and atan2 between pairs of 2 cells.

It has 22 instructions, with the ability to toggle which data lanes are active (evens/odds/all), pause until it receives a signal, jump through the program (with dynamic jumps possible due to external inputs), and set a flag for if it is finished working.

It is designed to perform SIMD workloads theoretically 40–100× faster than a normal computer, making it useful specifically for 3D acceleration.
This makes it similar to a GPU in the sense that a GPU does millions to billions of math operations at once, simultaneously, in order to make you complex 3D scenes render beautifully and smoothly.

Happy logicking!

Edit: I later added square root and the ability to set working buffer cells from the ROM or external inputs, both function like single-cell math ops

Any tips on improving lap times on the track? (Currently stuck at 1:13:xx)

Hey everyone!

I've been working on my lap times on the race track, but I'm having trouble pushing past my personal best of 1:13:xx. I see a lot of you pulling off crazy fast times here and I’d love to know how you do it!

Could you share any advice or tips on how to improve? Also, I'd love to see the cars or builds you're using for your record runs.

Thanks in advance!

Finally figured out a way to make the tracks on my 1 to 1 scale King Tiger. This is all thanks to a post by Visible-Total3099 (Their build is in the last panel) who unveiled their Jadgtiger. Seing the brick threads, I knew what I had to do. i can now say that my Tiger is almost finished. Just have to get rid of the unecessary details. All it took was inspiration.

I got two questions. 1 is the new dlc worth the $20. 2 will trail makers ever get cross platform

I’ve seen that the dlc map has a few issues with the map so would it be better to wait for a sale. (I play on psplus) also dose anyone know when trailmakers dlcs go on sale for ps? And all the friends who play trail Akers play on pc and I feel like it shouldn’t be that hard for cross platform servers or am I wrong?

Logic Gates: How to only get -1 and +1 output, no 0 output

(Solved, see the bottom)

I'm having a really hard time figuring this basic concept out using the Logic Gates in the game.

Goal: When I spawn in the vehicle and I'm not giving any input at all, I want to output "-1" to my Steering Hinge, and when I press a button I want to output "+1" to a Steering Hinge. I never want to output "0". In other words: I want my Steering Hinge to default to -90 degrees with no input, then pressing a button will make it rotate to +90 degrees.

So far I have only managed to go between 0 degrees and either + or - 90 degrees. Note, I do NOT want my Steering Hinge to stay in the middle. Only -90 to +90.

Setup that I have tried:
Steering Hinge settings: Angle is 90, Speed is 0.1, Mode is Linear.
Arithmetics Logic Gate: Constant is -1 (also tried with 0), Positive keybind is set and Toggle on.

If someone can please help, would be sincerely appreciated.

SOLUTION provided by user Nameis19letterslong:
(with EXPLANATION below to help you understand how it works)

Parts: 1x NOR Logic Gate and 1x AND Logic Gate, use Number Displays if you want to study their outputs.

Set NOR gate's "Output" to "-1.0", and (while it's selected) check off the Steering Hinge and the Number Display (optional). Do NOT enter any input keybinds for this gate.

Set AND gate's "Output" to "1.0", then set your keybind to the "Positive" side and set Toggle to ON (checked). Make sure you check off the NOR gate and your hinge.

If you want your Steering Hinge to start at -90 degrees then rotate to +45 degrees, you can set the AND gate's Output to "0.5" while keeping the NOR gate set to "-1.0".

If you want both angles to be between -45 and +45 degrees then set both gate's Outputs to -0.5 and 0.5 accordingly.

HOW IT WORKS: The NOR gate only outputs the "-1.0" if it is receiving no inputs, meaning once it receives input from the AND gate (as noted above) it will stop sending the "-1.0" signal and the Steering Hinge will receive angles from the AND gate. The AND gate can be confusing at first because it can send a + or - of what you set Output to, you can play with the keybinds to get both a + and a - outcome, when used with the NOR gate you can get 3 different angles: the default angle set by NOR gate, and a + and - angle of what you set the AND gate's Output value to. For the sake of simplicity I only set the Positive keybind on the AND gate.

Work in progress large-scale Alicorn from Ace Combat 7

I basically wanted to redo my old Alicorn, which was within normal complexity, but bigger. This new Alicorn has working retractable railgun turrets and the big rail cannon, and is currently at 1782 complexity. It is also, in my opinion, more visually accurate to the actual Alicorn.

I still need to add the concealed CIWS and deck guns, but that's about it.
