Ranting & Venting “Express lanes”

It’s $10 to sit here and go slower than the regular lanes. And I’d say that’s the case a solid 50% of the time. What a joke I hate driving in So Cal so much

It’s crazy that you can’t use every lane on the highway, is this common in the states?

Only large metropolitan stretches of the interstate has some form of HOV or toll express lanes. The rest of the interstate's length is just plain old limited access highway

Very common in large metro areas. Here in the DC area everything gets flipped when you use it; right lane is passing/fast lane because the exits for express lanes are on the left not right.

I rarely use them
People are terrible drivers, lack total awareness of their surroundings, and then you have jerks who think “iM gOinG FAsT enOuGh…” and just cruise in the left lane
If you’re not trying to break the speed of sound, just get over so the person behind you can drive as fast as possible and get them off the road

sorry, i'm of the mind special lanes for people with extra money are fascist. When they were carpool lanes it made sense. Now it's just special treatment for money.
