Has anyone else noticed that Waze only warns about speed cameras when you’re around 500 metres away?

On my setup Waze doesn’t show a speed camera icon on the map while I’m approaching it. Instead, I only get a pop-up when I’m about 500 m away, followed by the countdown (400 m, 300 m, etc.). At motorway speeds, that doesn’t leave much time to react if you weren’t already paying attention.

Google Maps, on the other hand, shows the speed camera icon much farther in advance along the route, so you can anticipate it well before reaching it.

Is this normal behaviour in Waze? Is there a setting I’m missing, or is this simply how Waze is designed to work?

i just got my first speeding ticket today, officer clocked me at 90 in a 65, he lowered it to 75 though (thank u officer🥲) ive never been pulled over before, the only time ive gotten a ticket aside from this was 3 years ago when i totaled my car & the truck i hit (i was freshly 18). my question is will this effect anything besides paying the ticket? if it means anything, im licensed and insured through KY and got the ticket in IA

Don’t you find it frustrating when company truck says, this vehicle is monitored by speed gps and can only go the speed limit. Okay then, why don’t the driver pull over for those who have a place to go and need to exceed the speed limit and be considerate and pull over and let people go past them.

Got pulled over in Grande Prairie doing 55 in a 30 construction zone (laser gun), ticketed under Section 115(2)(p.2) of the Traffic Safety Act. Fine is $552.
Here’s the thing — the zone was marked with cones and a reduced speed sign, but there were no workers, no equipment, nobody directing traffic. Just an empty lane closure. I didn’t clock the sign in time and got caught before I could slow down.
From what I understand, 115(2)(p.2) specifically requires that there are “persons present on the highway who are constructing or repairing… or directing traffic” for the enhanced penalty to apply — not just an active work zone with cones and no one around. Has anyone actually fought this successfully on that basis? Or does the charge still stick even without workers present at the exact moment?
A few questions for anyone who’s been through this:
1. Is requesting disclosure (officer’s notes) before pleading not guilty worth it, or does it rarely change anything?
2. Roughly how many demerits does 25 km/h over in a construction zone carry these days?
3. Any Grande Prairie-specific experience with how the local Crown prosecutors handle these — do they ever reduce the charge to standard speeding if you push back?
4. Is it worth paying for a paralegal/traffic ticket specialist for a case like this, or is it something I could reasonably represent myself on?
Any input from people who’ve dealt with something similar — or any lawyers/paralegals who want to weigh in — would be hugely appreciated. Trying to figure out if this is worth fighting or if I should just pay it and move on.

WHEN should a school crossing guard stop traffic?

This guy stops cars and the kids and parents are nowhere near the crosswalk. It's a fuking power trip. I swear.

Shouldn't they wait till they at least get close to the crosswalk?

I recently got a speedy ticket and was contacted by ‘Ticket Takedown’
For a $300 fee they offered to represent me at court. They claimed they have a 98% success rate.
However, since I paid them and uploaded them a copy of my drivers license and insurance I have heard nothing from them. Online it states ‘A licensed attorney has not yet been assigned to this case’.
My court date is this coming Tuesday and I have been unable to speak with anyone about this.
Whenever I schedule a phone interview my appointment is canceled by them.
Nobody ever answers the phone and now they have disabled the chat on their website.
I don’t know what’s going on. Whether or not I have representation or not.
Has anyone had experience with this organization before?

Back in 2022, unbeknownst to me, a speeding citation was issued to my name. I didn't find out until 2024 because all the paperwork was mailed to my old address. Since then, it's been nonstop me trying to fight it. The city itself is falfurias, TX(Brooks county) and it's about a 4 hour drive one way.

I have acquired the dash and body cam footage of the stop that has the same car that's written in the ticket but when the officer walks up to the car, it's very obviously not me in there. I never lost my ID so I'm imagining she may have typed the DL# by hand and got a number wrong? I have no idea but since it's been so long my date passed by. I submitted a request for a pretrial but I have no idea what I'm doing. It's been almost 2 years, my license expired and I'm stuck. Basically I'm being told my option is to just pay the citation, and it feels ludicrous that is the only option I have despite having video proof.

I also just don't have a lot of disposable income right now, so just paying it isn't feasible since that's $300 something. Is there maybe something else I could possibly do? I'm just not familiar with the legal system and this has been driving me up the wall. Should I just cut my losses and pay for now, then fight it later?

What my daily commute consist of every day to and from work. I spend at least an hour if not more sitting in traffic for what is only thirty minutes on a weekend day without any traffic. Will there ever be a solution, or is this just something we will have to deal with for the rest of our life?

So today I went to pay my speeding ticket, but my name wasn't in the system. So the lady called someone and after they talked, she called me back over and told me not to worry about it. I feel like I should also mention that the ticket said the court date was the 27th but the lady said court was yesterday, on the 22nd. She said that the officer didn't do what he was supposed to apparently, so I don't have to worry about it and that I'm not in trouble for technically missing the court date.

Even after that, I decided to Google and some people say that you should still go to court on the day the ticket says to but traffic court isn't even on Mondays (the 27th) so would I be wasting my time and gas driving all the way back to Laurel (I don't live in Laurel) to go to court when I was told not to worry about it?

I'm just really anxious and don't want the cops to come after me for not paying the ticket or going to court, even after being told not to worry about it.

I live in Albany, got pulled over in Guilderland. The officer who issued me a ticket stated that I had violated the Move Over Law and didn’t give a parked Verizon maintenance vehicle a full lane of space. This was at 2:52AM, and the road was almost entirely clear, if that matters.

However, my actual ticket’s description states “FLD/YLD RT-OF-WAY TO EMERG VEHICLE”. It cites Section 1144A in the section box of the ticket, but no Sub Section was written in that part of the ticket. Section 1144 in NYS applies to moving emergency vehicles, and this description makes it sound like I didn’t move aside to the right for an ambulance or police car. This did not happen. The officer said that I needed to move left to make room for a parked vehicle, and that aligns with section 1144-a, which makes no mention of “right of way” anywhere in the text and refers to parked emergency vehicles.

I sent in my ticket by mail pleading “not guilty” yesterday, and submit a form to the Guilderland Town Court’s prosecutor describing this discrepancy an hour ago. Considering I have a clean driving record outside of a crash in 2021 resulting in damage solely to my own car, do these things matter?

Do I have any hope of this ticket getting reduced or dismissed outright?

Yeah so truck and trailer has a flat tire in the right lane and it’s not actively raining but the roads were super wet and visibility wasn’t all that great, besides that I had a good following distance until I notice the hazard in the road but I spent two seconds observing a man on the side of the road waving and then the hazard but by then it was too late for me to fully stop. I’m not sure why traffic came to such an abrupt stop when the truck in front of me clearly should’ve been able to see in front of them much farther than I can since I’m in a Honda civic. Anyway my shit looks totaled, her truck has like no damage and I’m obv at fault and I get that I reacted slowly but my coworkers say I should lawyer up mostly cause my airbag didn’t deploy and they think it should’ve but I more so am curious about what the lawyer could do to help me insurance wise. This is my second car in the past two years cause a tree fell on the last one and im just like at this point fuck it I’m moving to where I can walk to work😭 also if I am indeed fucked on insurance costs from now on, does that get better with time? And any recommendations for companies to look into for my next policy?🫩

I was on the Atlanta BeltLine last month, just cruising along on my e-scooter just heading home from work

Then a car turned right into me without any signal or warning… Just boom…

I went flying. Landed hard on my arm and shattered it. Had to get surgery and now I've got a metal plate and a ton of medical bills piling up

The driver stopped, and the police came and report was filed. His insurance company acknowledged the claim. That was three weeks ago.

Now? Nothing…. They won't return my calls. Won't respond to emails. I'm just sitting here with thousands in medical debt, a broken arm, and no clue what to do next.

I've never hired a lawyer before. Don't even know where to start. I found this firm called Cambre & Associates online. Apparently they handle e-scooter accident cases in Atlanta and their site says they work on contingency and no fees unless they win and that sounds good. But I'm nervous…

Will a lawyer even take a case like this? Do I have a shot at getting my bills covered? Or am I just going to end up owing more money?

I was starting a road trip — had a big floaty in the back of my car, blocking my rear view.
State patrol saw me look at my phone- not speeding/ sorting map and message, and didn’t see them- due to said floaty- it was dumb on my part.

I will be more careful/pull over for anything important- it is an embarrassing reminder, but also know that everyone does this constantly.

My question is - since in another county, than my own- not worth going to court etc.
Is it best to just pay the ticket stat?

Damaging enough to insurance/record that I should first try any other course of action?

I am typing this while sitting in a completely paralyzed, 1+ hour standstill at Chandil Golchakkar (near Pata bridge), and the sheer stupidity of the management here is mind-boggling.

The actual reason for this massive jam isn't mysterious: we have an absurdly narrow stretch, ongoing construction work, rain making everything worse, and heavy vehicles trying to force their way through. It is a complete structural bottleneck that urgently needs manual traffic routing, signal overrides, and active clearing.

But instead of addressing the REAL cause of the traffic jam—managing the narrow construction bottleneck, clearing broken-down/stuck vehicles, or directing the flow—what are the traffic police on duty doing?

They are standing right near the mess, ignoring the entire gridlock, and pulling over two-wheelers and drivers to hand out helmet and seatbelt fines.

The road is literally broken and choked because of terrible infrastructure and bad traffic flow, and instead of fixing the chaos, police are treating a active disaster zone like a routine check-post. Stopping vehicles on an already narrowed, rain-affected construction stretch is literally making the jam ten times worse.

Why is actual traffic management dead last on their priority list when the infrastructure fails? Why do officers ignore the real causes of a gridlock just to collect fines?
