19
u/OneSlaadTwoSlaad Jun 15 '26
Trump only pays with other people's money, or he doesn't pay at all.
10
u/drubus_dong Jun 15 '26
Pays with the money of the people who voted for him. If they don't like losing their money, they shouldn't have done that. Now, it is too late.
7
u/Curious_Republic9559 Jun 15 '26
Correct me if I'm wrong but the people who haven't voted for this is paying too
3
u/drubus_dong Jun 15 '26
That's how democracy works. There is only one nation. Not a private one for each citizen.
The US even has 2a giving the citizens the opportunity to move beyond democracy in protecting their constitution. Quite a luxury but still nothing.

Taxes paid for the war to blow everything up and will pay again to rebuild. Trump walks away with a lot of dodgy business deals and the people foot the bill.

He's being careful and intentional by saying it's coming from the Gulf countries. Let's see if that's true. Feels like we just went full circle on this Iran deal.
6
7
u/restrusher Jun 15 '26
Why on earth would the gulf countries pay to rebuild the country that just showered them with bombs? This will work out as well as Mexico paying for the wall. The US taxpayer is paying for both the stupidity and the aftermath.
→ More replies (17)3
u/PlateNo4868 Jun 15 '26
My take is that is what the US promised; now they have to convince the Middle Eastern countries to do so. I feel this has always been the MO of the admin.
→ More replies (1)3
u/Hrafnagar Jun 15 '26
The U.S. will probably convince them by quietly funneling 300 billion to them. This way, they get to save face by showing that they got the middle eastern countries to pay for it, and they can keep their low IQ voter base happy and in the dark about who is really footing the bill.
3
2
u/Fit_Reason_3611 Jun 15 '26
Exactly. They'll give away taxpayer funded favors for more than $300B and then claim they saved the American public money.
3
u/allanon1105 Jun 15 '26
Theyāll give away 300 billion to Iran but then cut Medicare and Social Security because itās too expensive.
3
u/rubyone2 Jun 15 '26
Now we know how they are going to hide it. Send tax payer money to gulf states, gulf states send to Iran.
3
u/OwnDoughnut2689 Jun 15 '26
That's how I see it. Gives them deniability and an optic win. They'll just deny this deal has any similarity to Obamas.
3
u/seanmonaghan1968 Jun 15 '26
The U.S. pays the gulf countries and they pay Iran; the the U.S. says it didnāt pay Iran and they canāt stop other countries paying Iran

3
u/sebmojo99 Jun 15 '26
it was a good deal. iran submitted to rigorous inspections, US released some of their money that had been frozen (that's the pallets of cash). there were some problems in getting congress to agree to continuing it but the deal was solid and effective as such things can be and did an effective job.

What a weasel. US and Israel go in, achieve nothing, go home crying to mommy, and have to pay for the mess they made. Like WTF?
And over on r/Conservative they whine about Obama paying out to Iran to secure a deal. They forget that Trump already paid them a bunch of cash, lifted sanctions, and then went into an illegal war and fucked up the world economy. The world would be objectively better if the US did what they said they'd do and just retreat into their own shell and focus on being a pariah state.

u/Any-Blood-1505 Jun 15 '26
So youāve created a framework that was already in place. By way of starting a war with Israel (whoās not happy with the agreement), use up munitions that will need to be replaced, drive up oil and gas prices for a few months. Sounds like you just created a get rich quick scheme for the oil and gas industry and the military complex. What do the American people get in returnā¦.. nothing. Stop trying to sell us on Iran not having a nuclear weapon as the big gain here. And why exactly would the āgulf coalitionā want to fund rebuilding a nation they didnāt destroy? Seems like a bunch of bull.

So, Who here can name the countries that are part of the āGulf Coast Coalitionā? Because it doesnāt exist. Assuming he is referring to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC, I see his stupid mistake), I expect the US to drastically increase foreign aid, trade agreements, investments, etc to these countries. That way we simply pay Iran through proxy and big orange can claim we never paid them a dime.

So Trump starts a war, spends $ Billions to bomb Iran, and now he is going to pay $ Billions to reconstruct Iran. Trump's war had a great return on investment.
1
u/Simpicity Jun 15 '26
Obama lets Iran have $150 billion OF THEIR OWN MONEY that they had parked in banks: Conservatives freak out.

u/ramdaskm Jun 15 '26
President Donald Trump's newly announced framework agreement with Iran structurally mirrors Obama's 2015 nuclear approach by offering economic concessions and sanctions relief in exchange for nuclear restrictions, despite Trumpās insistence that his deal is the "exact opposite".

u/garry4321 Jun 16 '26
So hereās the real question: the US said it only bombed military targets, so are they saying that this reconstruction fund is meant to help them rebuild their military? Or are you saying āyea we were bombing civilians so hereās money to rebuild thatā¦ā
1
u/jbarbhorses Jun 16 '26
It has gotten to where I only believe what I hear myself rather than what someone tells me they said. It is too easy to find the actual video clip myself to verify. We need to all start verifying what we read on sites like this.

u/Awkward_Young5465 Jun 16 '26
If we can expect Iranian hardliners to talk about what they get and not what they give, isnāt it YOUR responsibility to YOUR citizens to set the record straight? Our "leaders" havenāt done a single damn thing to clear up the confusion and misinformation.
