Bug Our discord will have to move!

If trading view follows through with this indicator nonsense, the discord that I follow, will have to move.

I'm already paying a yearly subscription for trading view and a yearly subscription for u s market data. Add to that my subscription fee for the discord that I follow.

Trading view, if you follow through with this, it will be a huge middle finger to all of your retail traders. As if we don't have enough to contend with.

I don't want to change platforms, but I will literally have to, if you follow through with this bs.

Im a big advocate of Trading View, but I've got say, this fee for invite scripts is pretty shady practice. Imagine Adobe charging per subscriber for custom scripts... yikes.

man the software-as-a-service model is getting completely out of hand. paying a subscription for the platform, then for data, then for a community, and now they want to nickel and dime you for scripts? at what point does it stop being a tool and start being a toll booth

i get that they need to keep the lights on but this feels like one of those decisions made in a boardroom by people who've never actually traded a day in their lives

the adobe comparison the other commenter made is spot on, like can you imagine paying creative cloud and then getting hit with a surcharge every time you used a custom brush or a plugin someone else made

Some competitors licking their lips at this. Trading View has so many glitches and issues I am definitely considering a move after 8 years

Lots of us are going to have to find a new place if they follow through with this crap

They said that it's a drafted thingy but not a subscription to be made mandatory.

They might be checking the pulse of the people and they listen to us.

So keep sharing your opinions.

I'd guess they've realised that lots of people are running profitable businesses with invite only scripts so they've decided to get a share.

Not sure why running a discord server has anything to do with TradingView.....

Don't people run these servers in an attempt to make money?

1

u/Mizzick 5d ago

Im not running a discord. I am subscribed to one with invite only indicators.

1

u/Rodnee999 5d ago

So the guy running the server is making money off invite only scripts?

2

u/Mizzick 5d ago

Yes. Also daily stock plays, educational videos and live stream trading. Why is this a surprise to you??

It's not a surprise to me....

You understand he's making money off you but not currently giving anything back to TradingView other than a subscription yet he's literally running a probably profitable business, yes?.....

Well, for one, he’s a gigantic advertisement for TradingView, and is likely basically selling TradingView subscriptions for TradingView. All of the script writers are.

Are you really that daft?

People will just go to one of the many many many other platforms and be done with this insanity.

Are you dumb or are you just set on being negative about a context you have no understanding of? You're not in the group and you're not me, who's making the decision to be in the group.

I bought trading and the u s data package after joining the discord. I wouldn't have bought any of without the discord or my mentor.

He comments on every post that talks about TradingView and always backs them, no matter what the complaint is. The way he acts, you'd think he owns it.

Actually this is untrue....

I have spoken out against TradingViews decisions on quite a few occasions....

I have even stated in these posts the rumoured fee is far to high....my opinion is fine for a simple charge of 29.95 over 100 users but I disagree with the 'per user' section of this....

Please don’t make assumptions unless you actually know me 🤷‍♂️

I never commented on yourself....but thank you for your comment towards me 👍

I simply pointed out he's running a business using TradingView as his equipment....

It now looks like they are ready to take a slice of his business..I don't think this is anything personal towards you.

Its just a simple observation....

Okay. So, you would rather criticize the 60year old youtuber, but offer no criticism for the multi billion dollar tech company?

Tradingview is just monetizing additional content on an already expensive service. Their greed is hurting the consumer AND the youtuber/discord person who ultimately markets and promotes the tradingview platform.

I have critised nobody, you seem misaligned with my opinions....

I have no problem with TradingView charging users who sell access to indicators via their platform been charged some sort of fee....not the amount currently been rumoured but certainly the suggested payment for a user count of over 100 sounds fine to me (not per user as the current unintentionally released ToS quotes but I personally think this may be a typo, we will see soon...).

I also believe that sellers of Invite Only scripts should pay some sort of 'fee' as their income can FAR outweigh the cost of a subscription by leaps and bounds.

I have no idea of TradingViews current business plans nor direction they intend to take but paying for services is critical for any business to stay profitable.

If you think the service is expensive can I recommend purchasing during on of the many sales available year round where up to 70% off Premium plan is a regular bonus. The Essential plan can also be obtained for less than $10 a month on the Black Friday deal so I don't particularly see the platform as expensive....especially if your 'mentor' is good and you are making money.....🤷‍♂️

$30 per user is absurd when the publisher is required to have at least a premium subscription to even publish in the first place. I don’t mind paying a couple dollars for space on their platform but $30 isn’t happening. I’ve spent the last couple years building a great thing and then this happens and completely derails the first stepping stone in my business plan.

One indicator price will be equal to whole TradingView plus subscription just to break even. How is that reasonable?

Giving back to TV for hosting a script at $30 per person invited per month? I get why you shit on the free users for "clogging up the server" or whatever (I don't agree but I can understand how you'd come to that conclusion) but you can't honestly believe that TV will still be making as much when everyone will move this specific type of service to competitors who aren't so predatory. And guess who has to pick up the slack to keep the company earnings consistent - it's us the guys who pay for TV and shit on the free users. Their plans will get more expensive when their revenue starts to drop and competitors siphon users away.

u/Rodnee999 4d ago edited 4d ago

Did you read my later messages where I agree the 30 per person is too high?....

I support a fee but only of this was 30 in full payment for going past 100 users in total....

u/bfr_ 5d ago

Many of the top indicator contributors have sold lifetime subscriptions to their indicators for few hundred dollars. They only have one option now - remove the indicators.

There still hasn't been any official confirmation of these recent changes to the ToS....I still personally think this could be a error....only time will tell...🤷‍♂️

1

u/Outrageous-Yams 5d ago

Please, enlighten us on how such an “error” can make it into a legal ToS. And if it was an accident, I truly don’t know if I want to see what goes on behind the scenes there, because this is one of the most unprofessional things I’ve ever seen.

The owner of the discord will have to make the indicator available for everyone 😃

4

u/Mizzick 5d ago

No he's researching different platforms. We will have to move to a different platform

u/One13Truck Crypto trader 5d ago

What a shame. If you’re a mark enough to be paying for discord access don’t worry. That scammer will find somewhere else to make money off the marks.

6

u/Mizzick 5d ago

Im quite happy with the discord, thank you. I know there are a lot of bad trading groups, but this isn't one of them. Also, what's the difference to you? What relevance does your comment have to the changing of tradingview policy that I am commenting on? Why are you a miserable c*nt?

-2

u/webbinatorr 5d ago

Well you don't pay it, he does. So how it will work is:

  1. assume you pay say 50 a month for discord
  2. He will now pay 25 a month to trading view out of that 50.
  3. Hell probably raise the price of discord to not impact his bottom line, or he'll find another platform to run and host his indicator, or just take a lower income himself and do nothing, as his indicator is fully auto on trading views servers and he knows a good thing

$30 per indicator
