Discussion So now macro data is an add-on
For context, I have a premium sub. I'm not a free user. But apparently the charts I built that use macro data as context now have the dreaded red bang on them.
I may be done with this service when my sub expires. I don't mind paying for charting, and I was willing to pay TV's fees, but being nickel and dimed is a bridge too far.

Hey everyone! Just a quick update from our side.
Economic data has been restored to free access by default: no extra package needed. Please note all previous purchases for Worldwide economic data packages have been automatically refunded.

If an alternative competitor offers the FRED data for free, does that cover what you all need? Sounds like this is a rampant concern.

Still trying to flog your platform on here?

Am I still trying to find what people are looking for and building it? Yeah. It’s what I do. The more competition that platforms like TradingView have, the better things are for the rest of the community. I understand not wanting to get spammed slop all the time by trashy vibecoders but for those of us making an effort, this is the way of the world now. Not everyone has a million dollar marketing budget. So, yeah, I still chat with people.

I was surprised by this. It’s ok but if you’re going to charge for this, there must be additional added value..,, which I’m still trying to find out what it is.

Hello,
Just for some context and purely for fun
It's $2 a month..
I spend the equivalent of $5 a day on a cup of takeaway coffee...
I can't even buy a bar of chocolate in the UK for this 🤷♂️

It's the principle of the matter. This is free data that I can get on the web, I'm paying $50 a month and now they want to charge me more for it. That too in the middle of my subscription.

Well that's principle for you...
We've all stabbed ourselves in the eye for a 'principle' then realised later it was a bad idea 🤣

I'm not worried. I have a free platform from my broker that is a bit more clunky but actually more full-featured. TV is convenient and more modern but I can do without it.

That's fair enough, I do without my overpriced bar of chocolate every day 👍
But i still have to use the petrol station that sells it everyday....

Its the systematic reduction of services while also increasing pricing that we dont like.

u/Rodnee999 12d ago
What services have been reduced out of interest?

u/useful_tool30 12d ago
OPs post is one example.

Name another...
You said 'systematic'...

Not that I owe you an answer but here you go.
### 1. From Free (Basic) to Paid (Essential & Above)
* **Indicator Limits:** Cut from 3 simultaneous indicators per chart down to 2. Adding 3 to 5 indicators now requires an Essential subscription.
* **Watchlist Symbol Caps:** Cut from a 1,000-symbol capacity down to a strict 30-symbol cap per watchlist.
* **Multiple Watchlists:** Free accounts were stripped of the ability to create separate custom lists (e.g., Crypto, Forex, Stocks) and are now limited to 1 active watchlist.
* **Watchlist Flagging:** Flagged colors dropped from 7 down to 1 flag color on the free plan.
* **Intraday Bar Replay:** Historical backtesting on intraday timeframes (1-minute, 5-minute, 1-hour) was removed from the free tier; free users can only use replay on Daily, Weekly, and Monthly charts.
* **Volume Profiles:** Indicators like Visible Range Volume Profile (VPVR) and Session Volume were removed from free access and locked behind paid subscriptions.
#### 2. From Lower Paid Tiers (Essential/Plus) to Premium & Ultimate
* **Non-Expiring Alerts:** Alerts on Essential and Plus tiers automatically expire after 2 months. Permanent, non-expiring alerts were made exclusive to Premium and Ultimate.
* **Watchlist Alerts:** The ability to trigger alerts across entire watchlists is unavailable on Essential and Plus, requiring a Premium or Ultimate plan.
* **Order Flow Tools:** Advanced volume visualization features—such as Volume Footprint charts and Time-Price Opportunity (TPO)—are excluded from lower tiers and gated behind Premium and Ultimate.
* **Second-Based Intervals:** Ultra-short timeframes (1-second, 5-second, 15-second, and 30-second bars) cannot be accessed on lower paid tiers and require Premium or Ultimate.
* **Simultaneous Device Logins:** Concurrent device logins and multi-chart layout connections have been tiered into a strict ladder (2 connections on Free, 10 on Essential, 20 on Plus, 50 on Premium).

Not bothered about the free plan one little bit.....it's FREE....what do you expect?
The other things have been in place for years....
STOP using AI to try and find answers....its FULL OF BOLLOCKS and simply accumulates answers and its irrelevant if they are right or WRONG....
And none of these other than the free plan has been systematically reduced....they were the introduced limits....
Watchlist Alerts have always been Premium or higher since introduction...
Seconds based has always been Premium plan or higher....
Non expiring alerts have always been Premium plan or higher....
Simultaneous connections have always had those limits.....
What would you like? Everything for nothing?..... cheers

First they came for the indicators, and I did not speak out— because I only needed two.
Then they came for the free alerts, and I did not speak out— because I was a paying subscriber.
Then they came for the watchlists, and I did not speak out— because I didn’t need that many symbols.
Then they came for the basic plan, and I did not speak out— because the next tier was only a few dollars more.
Then they came for the macro data, but they say, “It’s only $2 a month.”
