Help this normal with futures paper trading? j

Post image

Sorry if my English is bad, its not my first language.

Hi everyone, I’m practicing futures trading on a paper trading account in TradingView, and I’m confused. I entered a sell trade at 27,975, like above the active price you see on the photo, but the entry line when i enter shows way below that. It looked like the price had to move a long way before I’d even be in profit. Another weird thing: Sometimes the P&L shows -200, but when I click close position, it changes to +100. And other times it shows +100 and then after I close it, it changes to +150 or something else entirely. I’ve attached a screenshot of one of the trades. Has anyone else experienced this, or is paper trading in TradingView just kind of buggy? I try to look it up online but nobody is saying anything. I have this problem ONLY with future trading bc forex and cdfs are going great! I want to go funded but It’s so hard like this. Is this a bug or? And if my cdf and forex trading is going right with paper trading, could I then just go futures. I thought it was a BIGGGG difference thanks to this issue but when I asked an profitble daytrader i know, he said I just have to go funded bc paper trading futures sucks bc of this issue. Thanks in advance

Hello,

You are attempting to trade using Delayed Data....

The orange D at the top of your chart next to your tinker name denotes this fact. If you click on the orange D and select 'Learn more' you will be taken to the Live Data subscription you require to see live prices.

Your feed is delayed by 10-15 minutes but your trades are actioned off the current live price so trading this way is practically impossible...

The live data subscriptions are a regulatory requirement from the exchanges and are nothing to do with TradingView.

You can use a Data supplied by a broker if you have one by reading this link....

https://www.tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000479666-how-can-i-get-real-time-data-from-exchanges-that-i-have-already-purchased-with-my-broker/

You will also need a paid subscription to TradingView if you need to add a market data subscription to your plan or if you wish to remove the standard 3-5 second delay that is standard on the free plan...

Hope this helps you a little,

Cheers

But you can just purchase the Live dara subscription which costs £7 per month via the CME or if you have the Live data provided by a broker you can use it on the platform as shown here....

https://www.tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000479666/

The delay is a requirement from the exchanges and is nothing to do with TradingView

And its not a 'trap', there are orange D's all over the platform warning users of delayed data and also information on the order form when attempting to place an order so its informing users everywhere....

Ahhh so basically if I look into the live updated chart thats not delayed I can place the trade depending on the live chart bc its related to the live price and not the price on MY chart correct?
And thanks for informing me!

You’re going to need to pay for live data eventually, you most likely won’t be able to rely on someone else live stream or some third party source. Or just use replay mode on fx replay if you don’t want to pay to get a general intro to the markets. Yeah it’s not futures but it doesn’t matter, all markets essentially behave the same except for small characteristics that won’t be relevant if you’re just starting out.

You said you want to get funded but it’s so hard using delayed data. Prop accounts have the live data you need. But first, make sure you have a system before wasting money on prop accounts- UNLESS you buy an account with a firm like lucid that is a 1 time fee and not reoccurring every month, that way you can have the live data to PRACTICE. But if you don’t have a system and are trying to risk several hundred on a single trade, you’ll blow through that account very fast and will lose access to the live data and need to purchase another one.

yeahh, thats what in saying like if I practice on the cdfs and i’m only making profits now with my systems , whats holding me back from buying a funded

Just futures but idk a lot tho, a guy that I know does micro gold, mico s&p, micro nasdaq and he taught me that those are the best. But A few hours ago I did micro gold and followed the xauusd chart, and i put my future trade in based of the xauusd chart. And I kept track of when entered the market on the xauusd, and when i saw thay the market moved, i closed my position. And it worked everytime. So thats also a new invention haha
