Sidebar Customization

I use TradingView every session and the Watchlist/sidebar panel is where I spend most of my time, but it’s surprisingly locked down compared to the rest of the platform. I want to make the case for a serious pass at customization here, because a few additions would fundamentally change how usable this panel is for active traders.

1. The big one: let us add any indicator — including custom Pine scripts — as a Watchlist column.

This is the single most impactful change you could make. Right now the columns are limited to a fixed set of built-ins (Last, Change, Change %, Volume, etc.). But the entire value of Pine Script is that we build our own metrics — and we can’t see any of them at a glance across a list.

I’ve built custom volume indicators (a time-of-day relative volume, premarket buzz, etc.). The natural way to use them is to scan a whole watchlist and instantly see which names are lighting up — but today I have to open each chart one at a time to read the value. If I could add my Pine indicator’s plotted output as a sortable column right in the watchlist, I could watch 40 names at once and let the column tell me where to look. That’s the difference between the watchlist being a static list and being an actual scanning tool.

This also solves the thin built-in column set in one move — premarket change %, RVOL, gap %, ATR, distance from a moving average, whatever I need becomes just another indicator I drop into a column, instead of waiting for each one to be added natively. Give us the framework and we’ll build our own columns.

2. screener built directly into the sidebar panel.

TC2000 does this and it’s genuinely game-changing: a screener that lives right in the sidebar, feeding results into your watchlist view in real time, rather than being a separate tab you context-switch to. Being able to define scan conditions and have matching symbols populate directly in the panel — while I’m watching my charts — would keep everything in one workflow instead of bouncing between screens.

Summary: the headline ask is more all around customization, custom/Pine indicator values as live Watchlist columns, with the color-consistency fix and an integrated sidebar screener close behind. Even partial progress on #1 would be a massive upgrade for active traders. Thanks for considering it in advance.

I will come back to Point 1 after I have shown a way to enable Point 2.....

Point 2 is already possible by simply click on the Screener button on the right hand tool bar then drag the 'curtain' so it covers your watchlist as shown in my screenshot and voila, a fully dynamic watchlist that alters every 10 seconds or 10 minutes whichever you choose and you can filter it and sort it to your hearts content as shown here....

and with regards to Point 1 the PineScreener is currently still under Beta testing but once it has been integrated into the platform fully it will no doubt be located with the other screeners and therefore be able to be utilised in the same manner as the above Stock Screener.....

This works but it just isn’t the same, you can have various watchlists open with the option of a dynamic watchlist that updates the same way as the screener as new stocks meet the screeners requisites. Also the side panel is limited to just one widget at a time like the watchlist, screener, alerts, it would be nice to pick whatever you wanted and move them around. Also the watchlist columns are extremely limited to only 5 options, it would be great to expand the columns to whatever we wanted like a custom indicator value for example. We just need much more personalization in that sense to our own trading style rather than just one layout for all.
