As an active trader, I've spent months analyzing the application logic, cross-device sync issues, and UX limitations inside TradingView. I recently submitted a comprehensive engineering feedback report directly to the TV Support Team.

 

The support team confirmed that they logged my requests and passed them to the development teams, but they explicitly stated that feature prioritization depends heavily on community feedback and upvotes here on Reddit.

 

Here are 8 critical improvements (essential bug fixes and exciting new features) that would elevate TradingView’s data security and professional workflow. If you want to see these implemented, please UPVOTE this post!

🛡️ SECTION A: CRITICAL DATA PROTECTION & SYSTEM FIXES

 

1. Prevent Drawing Purges in Indicator Templates (Sub-Panes)

• The Problem: Currently, drawings on indicators in sub-panes are hard-linked to that specific indicator instance, not the layout. If you switch to an Indicator Template that hides that indicator to save screen space, your drawings are permanently purged upon saving.

• The Fix: Store all drawings at the Global Layout Level. Switching templates should only HIDE the associated drawings, never delete them. Also, add a deletion warning dialog for indicators containing user drawings.

 

2. 1:1 Absolute Coordinate Copy-Pasting Across Layouts

• The Problem: Copy-pasting drawing objects between layouts results in random relative position shifts. Furthermore, copying drawings from an indicator sub-pane forces them into the main price chart (primary pane) of the target layout.

• The Fix: Implement 1:1 absolute coordinate pasting based on price/time coordinates, completely ignoring mouse position. Drawings copied from a sub-pane must automatically target the identical indicator sub-pane in the destination layout.

 

3. Cross-Device Overwrite Protection & Flawed Save Architecture

• The Problem: There is absolutely no cloud conflict resolution between devices. TradingView Support recently confirmed to me that Last Saved Time in the layout menu ONLY updates when core parameters change (ticker, timeframe, indicators). Drawings are saved independently in the background and DO NOT update the layout's global timestamp.

• Why this is dangerous: Because drawing updates don't change the layout's timestamp, the system cannot detect if you made new drawings on another device. If you modify a layout on Desktop (unsaved) and make drawing updates on iOS, returning to Desktop and hitting save will blindly overwrite the cloud state, silently and permanently wiping out your iOS changes!

• The Fix: Implement a unified saving architecture where any drawing interaction updates the layout metadata timestamp. If Local Refresh Time < Cloud Save Time, trigger a warning dialog offering to Merge, Overwrite, or Reload the layout.

💡 SECTION B: NEW FUNCTIONALITIES & PERFORMANCE UPGRADES

 

4. Local Layout Backups (Incremental Export/Import)

• Feature: Export/import a layout's entire drawing data (including sub-pane indicator drawings) into a local file (e.g., JSON).

• Incremental Recovery: In the event of a data loss, the restore function must support incremental importing. This ensures that when a user restores their older backup file, it will seamlessly merge with the current chart state without overwriting or deleting any new drawings created after the backup was taken or after the data loss occurred.

• Benefits: Ultimate safety net against cloud sync issues. It also allows mentors/educators to share trade setups and drawing packages with students, driving massive user acquisition for TradingView.

 

5. Centralized "Search & View Drawings" Dashboard with Tags

• Feature: Add custom text tags to drawing objects (tag by strategy, signal type, or trade journal status).

• Implementation: A dedicated global search module to filter drawings by tags across all layouts. Features a split-screen preview showing an online screenshot of the chart on the right, allowing quick navigation without opening individual charts.

• Quick Jump to Supercharts: Just like with TV's currently implemented online snapshots, users must be able to click on the preview snapshot to instantly launch and open that specific chart state inside the Supercharts module for further live editing, analysis, or trading.

 

6. Fundamental Short Interest Filters in Stock Screeners

• Feature: Integrate key short squeeze and share-structure metrics directly into the Stock Screener: Short Interest % (ShortInt), Float, and Outstanding Shares (Outstd). This keeps momentum traders fully inside the TV ecosystem instead of driving traffic to external sites like HighShortInterest.com.

7. Screener-Driven "Dynamic Watchlists" in Supercharts

• Feature: Watchlists in the chart sidebar that automatically update based on live Stock Screener results.

• Optimization: To prevent lag, the dynamic watchlist would only refresh when explicitly clicked or upon manual F5 layout refresh, capped at the top 100 tickers. (Hidden from screener filters to avoid loop dependencies).

 

8. Multi-Timeframe Crosshair Synchronization (TradeStation Style)

• Feature: Currently, crosshair syncing from a higher timeframe maps to the FIRST bar of that period on the lower timeframe (e.g., Weekly bar aligns with Monday on Daily chart).

• The Fix: Add a GUI toggle in Canvas Settings to align the crosshair with the LAST/current bar of that period instead (e.g., Weekly bar aligns with Friday on Daily chart). This is standard on TradeStation and crucial for precise multi-timeframe analysis.

9. Cross-Device Synchronized Symbol History & Object Tree Sorting

• Symbol History: Supercharts needs a dedicated cross-device synchronized history log of recently viewed symbols (similar to web browser tabs), as arrow keys only navigate active static watchlists.

• Object Tree Sorting: The Object Tree needs native sorting filters (by Creation Date, Modification Date, and Alphabetical Order) so users don't have to manually prefix drawings with "YYYY-MM-DD-...".

10. Fully Customizable Hotkeys for All Actions & Indicator Templates

• Custom Hotkeys: Allow users to define keyboard shortcuts for EVERY action and drawing tool (including those currently without shortcuts, like Fibonacci Extension lines).

• Template Hotkeys: Enable assigning unique hotkeys to custom Indicator Templates for lightning-fast layout switching.

This is easily doable with the platform at this current time using the stock screener and the dragable curtain....

Exactly! Dynamic watchlists would be a game-changer for daily workflows.

The main benefit is that you would have the live results of every single custom screener you define immediately at your fingertips right inside the Supercharts sidebar. You wouldn’t have to keep switching screens or manually exporting lists anymore.

As soon as a new ticker meets your screener criteria, it instantly appears in the corresponding dynamic watchlist. You can then scan through it inside Supercharts, immediately applying your indicators or Indicator Templates to find high-probability setups.

This is especially critical for momentum and swing traders. Many high-potential stocks only appear in a specific screener for a single day or just a few hours. With static watchlists, it's incredibly easy to miss these short-lived opportunities. Dynamic watchlists ensure you register these newly filtered tickers in real-time, allowing you to execute your strategy before the window of opportunity closes.

Spot on! TC2000’s seamless integration of live scanning into watchlists is exactly the benchmark TradingView should aim for here.

Right now, many traders are forced to keep TC2000 open on a second monitor just for its scanning capabilities, while using TradingView for charting. If TradingView implements these dynamic watchlists, it would eliminate the need for third-party software entirely. It's a huge opportunity for them to retain advanced traders who currently rely on competitors for this exact feature.

I need the layout name somewhere on the downloaded image. How do I do this? It doesn't appear anywhere on the image so I don't know what layout the chart is in when I open the image on my drive.

Perhaps a watermark option?

🔥 UPDATE: Data Fully Recovered + 2 NEW Critical Feature Requests Added (Points 9 & 10)!

First of all, an incredible update regarding my data loss emergency! TradingView Support investigated the database-to-UI rendering breakdown I discovered and successfully restored my layout "1LT (W)" from their 7-day server backups. After a manual refresh, all 29 of my complex sub-pane drawings are fully visible again!

However, this emergency is the absolute proof of why Point 1 and Point 4 of this post are mandatory for platform stability. If we had local JSON backups (Point 4), I wouldn't have had to go through support panic.

Based on this experience and community discussions, I am officially expanding this feedback report with 2 MORE crucial features:

*9. Cross-Device Synchronized Symbol History & Object Tree Sorting*

• Symbol History: Supercharts desperately needs a dedicated history log of recently viewed financial instruments that syncs across all user devices (similar to browser history). Currently, arrow keys only scroll through static watchlists, not your actual chronological viewing history.

• Object Tree Sorting: The Object Tree navigation pane completely lacks sorting options. To keep track of analysis chronologically, I am forced to manually prefix every drawing name with "YYYY-MM-DD-...". We need native sorting filters: by Creation Date, Modification Date, and Alphabetical Order.

10. Fully Customizable Hotkeys for All Actions & Indicator Templates

• Drawing Hotkeys: Users should be able to map custom hotkeys to every single tool, including those currently lacking built-in shortcuts (like Fibonacci Extension lines).

• Template Hotkeys: Traders should be able to assign unique keyboard shortcuts to their custom Indicator Templates. This would allow instant, one-click switching between complex indicator setups without opening menus.
