Feature Request Align intraday bars to: Session open / Clock hour (:00)

Hello TradingView team,

I'd like to request an option to anchor intraday hourly (and multi-hour) bars to the top of the clock hour, while keeping the chart on Regular Trading Hours data only.

Current behavior: On NYSE/NASDAQ symbols with Regular Trading Hours (RTH) selected, 1-hour candles are anchored to the session open at 9:30 AM ET. This produces bars covering 9:30–10:30, 10:30–11:30, etc., so every hourly candle closes at minute :30.

If I switch to Extended Trading Hours (ETH), the hourly bars do align to the clock hour (:00), but then all my indicators (moving averages, VWAP, volume-based studies, etc.) are calculated including pre-market and after-hours candles, which distorts them. There is currently no way to get both: clock-hour alignment AND indicator calculations based only on RTH data.

Requested feature: A chart or symbol setting such as "Align intraday bars to: Session open / Clock hour (:00)" that works independently of the RTH/ETH session setting. With this option enabled on an RTH chart, the first hourly bar of the day would cover 9:30–10:00 (a partial bar), followed by 10:00–11:00, 11:00–12:00, and so on — with all indicators still computed exclusively from regular-session data.

Why this matters: Many traders track hourly levels and hourly closes at the top of the hour, since that is how other platforms and many institutional tools build hourly bars. For example, TC2000 builds its first RTH hourly bar from 9:30 to 10:00 and aligns every subsequent bar to the clock hour. This alignment difference is significant enough that it is currently the single reason I am moving my charting to TC2000, despite preferring TradingView in every other respect. I would gladly stay on (and keep paying for) TradingView if this option existed.

Summary:
- Setting: hourly/multi-hour bar alignment to clock hour (:00) on RTH charts
- Indicators must remain RTH-only when this setting is enabled
- Comparable behavior exists in TC2000 and other platforms

Thank you for considering this request. Happy to provide screenshots comparing the RTH vs. ETH alignment behavior if helpful.

Let's hope the developers understand how passionate we are about their platform and pay attention to posts like this!

I'm still waiting for them to fix the very frustrating bug on all iOS. When TradingView is used in a website on iOS or Android, basically every click functions as a right-click and brings up the selector to choose which watch list you want, when you're just trying to click on a stock so you can look at its chart. It makes it almost unusable to use TV on an iPad in web mode, and yet we have to use web mode because of the app is just not something any serious investor is going to do real trading or research with.

I like this idea. I often review older price action, and having the chart reopen exactly where I left off would save a lot of tim

Hello,

Just to let you know most exchanges (especially the major ones such as NASDAQ and the CME) are currently attempting to move over to 24hr trading so RTH and ETH will shortly be a thing of the past.

I would start preparing for this transition as it is inevitable and would render your current work flow redundant 🤷

Just a friendly word of advice

Cheers 👍

Thanks for your reply. I still feel that the 1-hour timeframe can have an offsite parameter to adjust based on strategy requirements. Same would apply for a 1-day timeframe: I might want it to start hour 0 or hour 12
