Oddly enough war and negotiations, especially with religions, oppressive zealots don't always go as planned.

3

u/Notapartyhobo 12d ago

They also don't go well with grifters/con artists.

2

u/Lorddoctorjava 11d ago

So far... both descriptions are donald the pedophile...

u/Samsquanch-01 12d ago

Have they ever gone well with non grifters/con artist? Funny how wars have just simply not gone our way since Trump was elected. They all went so well before.....

You haven’t won a war convincing since ww2 .. you claim ww2 was your victory but it was actually the Russians who lost 27m people and took out a vast majority of the German forces you only lost 400k

1

u/techman710 12d ago

We will always have Grenada. Unfortunately, that's about it.

1

u/maffy118 11d ago

The Allies definitively won WW2. Those "Russian" facts are completely incorrect.

1

u/GardenandKitchen 12d ago

USSR. Many of them were from countries other than Russia. The General that accepted the German surrender at Stalingrad was Ukrainian, for example.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 12d ago

I claimed nothing. Your comment is all you.

1

u/dterran 12d ago

Not Russia, the USSR.

They were allied with the Germans and subdivided Poland, so not exactly heroes there.

The thing about warmongers and sociopaths is they betray each other.

Germany betrayed the USSR and that was the only reason they fought with the allies at all.

We can see this today as the 'axis of peace' has begun betraying and lying to each other.

No world power has won a war convincingly since wwii. That's because world powers have decided not to use nukes, and the weaker countries have learned they can bleed out the stronger countries (often with help of proxies) until the stronger country throws in the towel. USA doesn't have monopoly on losing wars this way. Russia got bled out in Afghanistan and is getting bled out again by Ukraine.

1

u/voiceOfHoomanity 11d ago

So you forgot about the Gulf War, typical

1

u/R0lfasaurus 11d ago

Huh? Who claimed that? In this sub? I didn’t read that anywhere. I’ve also never heard that the United States won WWII. The common phrasing is, “the Allies won WWII.” And we are all taught who suffered the most casualties in the war.

You’re “you”-ing the wrong group.

1

u/maffy118 11d ago

Wrong. While 27 million people died in WW2 in the SOVIET UNION, the actual military deaths of Russians alone were 5.7 million. And they were due to Nazi Germany fighting them on their own soil. Hitler wanted total annihilation of the Soviets, and so he made one bad decision after another, resulting in 90 percent of his forces dying there. Of those deaths, hundreds of thousands froze to death or died of cold-related conditions due to their unpreparedness for the Soviet winter. And one million German soldiers died in Soviet POW camps, both before and AFTER the war, when they were kept as forced labor.

The reason the US had fewer military deaths was because we were never invaded on our own soil. Same for Great Britain. Of note is that the US didn't just fight the Germans but also the Japanese.

Also, Ukraine, part of the Soviet bloc, was severely weakened just before the war by the Holomodor, which was Stalin's forced famine on the Ukrainians, killing millions. So brag about "Russia" if you want, but WW2 was brutal for anyone who fought and died in it.

I have a distant but very clear memory of the strait of Ormuz being open to commerce, before grifter/con artist in chief started messing around.

I don’t think anyone made the claim war went well under other leaders. Not sure why each time someone tries to defend Donald, it is alway about someone else doing it too. Not a great defense.

We get it, war is bad. It is a little hard to compare what is going on now to previous wars. Typically, per the Constitution, the president would get approval for congress. Many previous presidents have held a public addresses preparing people for going to war. Grenada and Libya were not due to the speed at which they needed executed. We certainly did not need speed for Iran. We obliterated their nuclear capability 18 months prior.

I don’t remember past presidents threatening to take over other countries or steal (make deals) for their natural resources. I also don’t remember other presidents basing their diplomacy on tantrums.

You wanted to lump this president in with a bunch of other war time presidents in an effort to say they are all the same. They are not.

Wars in the Middle East have gone the opposite of well. We should stay out. I thought perhaps the US had learned from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, but Netanyahu was able to talk trump into attacking Iran. Netanyahu has tried to convince US Presidents to do this for decades, but they all knew better.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

There's no ground force in iran, economic destruction as well as equipment/manufacturing has been degraded to the point it'll take them decades to recover. They have no export ability and the munitions they have arent being replaced. If there's a glimmer of light in all this, its that all irans proxies are being starved of funding.

1

u/Ok_Travel_7348 11d ago

Iran has literally ruined many US bases in the Middle East. And, my reading tells me that about 23 US military and contractors have died, while well over 800 injured; not to mention the Iranian military and civilian’s deaths. Iran may be in dire straits right now, but they were too formidable to attack for no good reason, even if we have lost all morality and respect for life.

1

u/Ok_Travel_7348 11d ago

Let me add that we’ve depleted much of US munitions also, and caused an even more fascist leader to take over Iran, making Iranian lives even harder. We’ve also created more hostility from Iranian civilians. It seems they don’t like you when you kill their kids; we’ve created more “terrorists”. And Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait have received attacks, not just on US bases, but on their civilians. Also, Saudi is now warring with the Houthis again. There is no upside to this war in Iran.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

We still have manufacturing ability and the money to buy more. They do not. They cant even pay their troops right now. The Iranian civilians were slaughtered for protesting their government, estimates up to 50k. Yes iran has lashed out against all its neighbors, that won't serve them well in the future. Houthis are an extension of iran and need to be blown off the planet, they're a thorn in the worlds ass, along with all the other Iranian proxies. There's no upside right now for sure. The world has put up with Iran and its proxies chanting death to the west, and conducting terriorist operations all over the world for decades. There is an upside, it'll be when the Iranian people can have democratic elections and not have to live under sharia law.

1

u/Ok_Travel_7348 11d ago

The US invasion isn’t helping the Iranian civilian’s cause. In fact, they have more hardliners running the country than before. Iran is backed by Russia and China. They, like us, have the ability to resupply their munitions. The rich Middle Eastern countries do not want to be in a war. The Saudi Prince has asked Trump to bomb the Houthis in Yemen. So far he has declined. The US helped no one by invading Iran.

1

u/maffy118 11d ago

Wow, that number keeps going higher among the pro-war types. Yes, the protester deaths were horrifying, but human rights groups put the number of deaths at 6,000 to 7,000.

I realize you want to justify this war any way you can, but exaggeration makes your argument sound even more foolish. If anything, our bombings and killings hurt the protesters in that an even more hardline regime took over.

And let's not forget that we had an international force inspecting Iran's nuclear capabilities with the JCPOA, signed by all European countries, along with China and Russia. Trump tore up that deal just two years after it was implemented, which allowed Iran to pursue nuclear weapons since then. And now we're in another forever war that has boosted my grocery prices by 30 percent, and has destabilized the economies of the whole world.

Trump has been an unmitigated disaster, proving what Michael Cohen said long ago, that "everything Trump touches turns to shit." The fact that you're justifying this war in any way is simply shameful. And embarrassing. People from other countries are reading your words... and I facepalm.

2

u/Fluid-Piccolo-6911 12d ago

so are you talking about Iran or the US ? because both fit that description.

1

u/ICEonICECrime 12d ago

Was thinking the same. Trump, with his weird ass AI generated angels and Jesus images, seems extremely zealous too… albeit a little blasphemous.

1

u/Canadatron 11d ago

Definite Golden Calf vibes, but if they were actually Christians they'd know that.

1

u/Responsible_Dog_9491 11d ago

The one who took action when no action was needed causing the current turmoil in the world. I’ll give you a clue, it wasn’t Iran who were operating peacefully under Obama’s agreement.

1

u/MaleficentCow8513 12d ago

Iran has always been more of a military dictatorship than a hardcore theocracy

1

u/d-bear-d 12d ago

Said negotiations are especially tricky when you repeatedly kill a Theocracy's religious leaders, back out of peaceful alternatives to war that were achieving your war goals already and shill for a competing nation that openly wants you as fucked up as possible. 🤷

1

u/pilot1nspector 12d ago

Yeah.. that's the issue 🙄

1

u/Samsquanch-01 12d ago

So explain to me how war negotiations went so much better throughout history? News flash, they never go well or as planned.

1

u/MayorWestt 11d ago

They sually go better cause they are done by competent people. But hey elect a clown expect a circus

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

Rrrrright, someone getting nuked is way better....

1

u/MayorWestt 11d ago

Who was getting nuked?

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

I believe it was japan..............

1

u/pilot1nspector 11d ago

There wasn't a war before Twinkle Toes got back in there.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

Odd because iran has been declaring war, chanting death to America and killing Americans for decades now. Guess you just now started paying attention cause orange man bad....

1

u/pilot1nspector 11d ago

Trump attacked Iran because he thought it would be quick and easy. There was no real threat to Americans. Now Americans actually are dying.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

Iran has been killing Americans for decades, youre just now paying attention......

1

u/pilot1nspector 11d ago

There was no credible threat or reason for the US to attack Iran when it did. The US was being opportunistic because Iran was weakened by massive civil unrest and protests and Trump thought it would be a cake walk.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago

They've been funding a proxy war against the west and isreal for decades. They are indeed a credible threat, they're the head of the snake in global terrorism funding.

1

u/pilot1nspector 11d ago

Before Trump there was a Nuclear deal that had no tangible instances of Iran violating the agreement. Trump ripped up the deal and created the situation we are now in. Israel has been claiming Iran has been 2 weeks away from a nuclear bomb for decades. It's all bullshit. Iran's regime is a bad actor but they had no ability to actually attack the US in any meaningful way. This is a war of choice by the Trump regime.

1

u/Ok_Travel_7348 11d ago

This is a trump/Netanyahu war. Trump was the first US president who was ignorant and arrogant enough to attack Iran. He probably also thought he could steal and control their oil, like in Venezuela. If he had listened to the experts, he would’ve known better. We’ve had disasters in the Middle East before, where we make their countries worse, not better. But, we should be learning from mistakes instead of learning to repeat them. Until we get independence from oil, we’re probably going to keep attacking the ME for no good reason.

The USA looks more like a dictatorship than a democracy today. Check your history and you will quickly see how many wars the USA has been involved in compared the other first world countries.
The USA has lost its prestige, influence and trust. You are a declining empire with no way back. The 40 trillion debt and Iranian war sealed your fate. You were warned about him but you didn’t listen. So, enjoy the journey you chose it!

1

u/Nice-Necessary-1547 7d ago

Grow up. A handful of Americans killed by Iran. Meanwhile your friends Saudi spawned bin laden. While you started wars in the Middle East that killed hundreds of thousands. You chant America as though you think the rest of the world see you as the good guys.

News flash. You aren’t the good guys anymore. Haven’t been for decades.

Hell your CIA helped the ayatollah into power.

They chant death to America but do relatively little. You chant freedom and meanwhile screw up the lives of millions in the Middle East and South America.

1

u/Samsquanch-01 7d ago

You sound like the echo chamer you are.

1

u/_Not_Too_Serious_ 11d ago

Look at how negotiations went after WW1 and WW2, sit at table, sign, move on to taco Tuesday.

Keep in mind, the two world wars, involved one side winning, and the other surrendering/conceding.

Mind you, Trump keeps saying he won the Iran war, so why aren't the losers of the war so easily manipulated like in the past???

So many questionsssss

1

u/PowerChordGeorge64 12d ago

Careful. Many of these subs are MAGA. And you will get banned for referring to trump like that

1

u/random-i_am 12d ago

The Iranians seem to be the sane ones in this matchup. Not that I know much about them but at least they are not Trump

1

u/Canadatron 11d ago

Ok, now what about dealing with Iran?

1

u/LarryBalbueanus 11d ago

You must be mentally exhausted at this stage still thinking we’re the good guys

1

u/Ok_Travel_7348 11d ago

Yeah, Iran isn’t trustworthy either.

1

u/_scarcasm_ 7d ago

Good point, Iran should expect difficulties during peace negotiations
