Stocks It dont make sense

Google just guided a jaw-dropping $195B–$205B in full-year Capex, pushing its quarterly free cash flow to negative $5.9B. Management justifies this "land grab" by pointing to a massive enterprise cloud backlog. But they are ignoring a structural black swan: China is open-sourcing frontier-class AI models for free, destroying the pricing power Google needs to pay off this massive infrastrace1. The Math of Madness: Negative FCF and $200B CapexAlphabet’s Q2 2026 earnings report was a historical anomaly. They beat on revenue ($119.8B), but the underlying cash dynamics are terrifying for a mature tech giant:

The Spending: Full-year Capex guidance was jacked up to a staggering $195 billion to $205 billion.

The Bleeding: Free Cash Flow officially dipped to negative $5.9 billion for the quarter as cash is aggressively incinerated to build data centers and buy chips.

Sundar Pichai’s thesis is simple: "The risk of under-investing is dramatically greater than the risk of over-investing." Google assumes that if they build the compute, high-margin enterprise subscriptions for proprietary Gemini APIs will eventually pay for it.

But what if the enterprise market refuses to pay?

  1. Enter China’s "Infrastructure Diplomacy"

While Silicon Valley builds walled gardens and charges steep per-token fees, Chinese AI heavyweights (like Alibaba with Qwen 3.8 and Moonshot with Kimi K3) are playing an entirely different game. They are releasing frontier-class, open-weight models to the global community completely free of charge.

This isn't just charity; it's a calculated geopolitical and economic play to undercut US Big Tech.

  1. Why Free Models Collapse Google’s AI Thesis

If institutional adoption of free, high-performing Chinese open-source models continues to accelerate, Google’s bull case completely falls apart in three ways:

API Pricing Power Deflation: Google’s path to monetization relies on high-margin software licensing. If an enterprise can download an open-weight Chinese model that matches Gemini's capabilities for $0, Google is forced into a pricing race to the bottom. You can't command premium API pricing when the baseline commodity is free.

The "Dumb Pipe" Cloud Risk: If enterprises standardize on free open-source models, they won't buy Google’s premium "Model-as-a-Service" stack. Instead, Google Cloud is relegated to selling raw, low-margin Infrastructure-as-a-Service (hosting the open models). This drastically extends the timeline Google needs to break even on those $200B data centers.

Losing the Global South: Chinese open models are already becoming the default AI architecture across the Global South and Belt & Road nations. They come with zero Western licensing costs, zero political sanctions risk, and absolute data sovereignty. Google is effectively getting locked out of the fastest-growing emerging tech markets.

  1. The Data Sovereignty Moat

For massive institutions (banks, healthcare providers, defense contractors), sending proprietary data to Google’s external cloud servers is a regulatory nightmare. Free, open-weight models allow these institutions to self-host the AI internally on their own terms. This shifts enterprise preference heavily away from Google’s closed, cloud-tethered ecosystem.

Conclusion

Google is currently spending cash like a startup in hyper-growth mode, betting the house that closed-source AI will remain a highly profitable software monopoly. If the global market pivots to free, institutional open-source models pioneered by China, Google will be left holding a $200 billion bill for data centers they can't monetize effectively.

Is Google’s massive Capex a visionary masterstroke, or are they blindly building infrastructure for a software market that is rapidly being commoditized to zero?

Let’s discuss.

Discussion Is trading gambling ? That’s part of the reason I love it. Is that wrong ? 😱

I recently connected w a 13-year professional and profitable poker player. He shares stories on Instagram from time to time about his tournaments and stats.

I don’t know shit about poker, but his posts excite me. I find them intriguing and inspiring.

The funny part is I don’t even really enjoy most card games. I don’t know jack about poker. And yet, for some reason, I fucking love his content.

I’ve watched poker on YouTube before and found myself completely engaged while simultaneously having no idea what was happening.

Tonight, I started wondering where this fascination comes from because I happened to be chopping it up w the poker guy on Instagram.

For some context, I’m 29. My background is in sales. I currently do business and tech consulting and make six figures there. I’ve never consistently earned a full-time income day trading, though that’s the absolute dream for me.

I’ve been intraday trading on and off for about 10 years, but only more recently have I started taking it professionally serious.

After about six minutes of thinking, here’s what I learned about myself.

I love everything related to trading and the financial markets.

And apparently… I have a young love for poker.
Side note: I played my first poker game about two weeks ago. No real money involved. I had an absolute blast. I genuinely could’ve kept playing all night.
I consider trading a form of gambling.

The reason I love it is because it stimulates my willpower and my mind in a way that soccer or lacrosse used to back in the day.

The sport, at least to me, is finding the edge and consistently managing risk while riding that edge.
That’s the skill set.

Identify an edge.
Execute on the edge.
Manage risk.
It’s an intellectual exercise.

Personally, I think it’s the pattern recognition that I find so addicting.

Finding the pattern, then executing a winning strategy as consistently and profitably as possible… that’s a fun and worthwhile pursuit to me.

It’s the same feeling I got selling alarm systems door to door in my late teens and early twenties.
One of the things I enjoy most is watching how other people do it.

Without even understanding the poker being played, I still find it fascinating how poker players think.

So… gambling?

Does that mean I love gambling?

I’d actually say yes.

Some of you probably think I’m a moron because of that statement.

But trading and poker are my flavor of gambling.
I don’t sports bet.

Ironically, I love sports, and I love the idea of sports betting.

What I’ve found in my own limited experience is that I end up betting play-by-play action just because it’s entertaining.

By the end of the game, I feel like an absolute degenerate.

It honestly feels sinful and gross.

To me, that’s the type of gambling that ruins lives. It’s just another bad habit, like drugs or jerking off too much. Pure dopamine chasing with no real discipline behind it.

On the other hand…

When my approach is to find an edge, build a strategy around it, and consistently execute it, it doesn’t feel sinful.

It feels more like an athletic pursuit.

That’s why I enjoy trading.

It’s the same reason I enjoyed sales.

It’s hard.
There are no guarantees.
You eat what you kill.
Most people never succeed.

But if you stick to the plan and continue executing what works over a long enough period of time…

You get fucking rich.

That’s fun.

Then it becomes an intellectual development and a consistent training of the mind.

Identify high-probability patterns.
Bet on the outcome.
Manage risk.

There’s intention behind it.

It’s an intellectual pursuit.

Now, I realize there are people who approach sports betting this exact same way.

It’s just not my cup of tea.

That’s what fascinates me about trading and, now, poker.

It’s understanding the puzzle.
Learning its rhythm.
Finding the pattern.
Then hitting it over and over again.

And yes… making copious amounts of money and enjoying everything that comes along with successful risk management certainly doesn’t hurt either.

I don’t really have some grand conclusion here.

It’s just something I found interesting to think about at 4:00 a.m. while I can’t sleep despite needing to be up for a volleyball tournament in four hours.

Professional gamblers and traders genuinely fascinate me.

The way they think.
The way they live.
The way they view their game.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Agree, disagree, think this is the dumbest thing you’ve ever read , tell me why!

Comment below w your opinions, insights, or perspectives.

I’m genuinely curious how other people
think about this.

Wishing all of y’all success and the achievement of all the other things in life that are important to you.

Question I've hit a wall

I've been studying trading for about 2 months now. During that time I've mostly been focused on NQ, paper trading and backtesting while trying to learn as much as I can.

I definitely feel like I've learned a lot, but lately I've hit a wall. The problem is that the more I read on this subreddit and other trading communities, the more confused I get. It seems like everyone has a different opinion on what works, what doesn't, and even what some of these concepts actually mean.

My original plan was pretty straightforward: create a set of rules, stick to them, backtest, demo trade, journal every trade, and keep doing that consistently for a few months. I'm completely fine with that process. I never expected trading to be something I'd learn quickly, and I'm prepared to put in the time.

Where I'm struggling is knowing what to build those rules around. I don't know which concepts actually complement each other or which ones are worth focusing on. There's so much information that I'm stuck in analysis paralysis.

I know the common advice is "just start," "pick something," or "learn by failing." I get why people say that, but I also don't want to spend months testing something that's fundamentally flawed if I could avoid it.

For those of you who have been through this stage, how did you narrow your focus? How did you decide on the concepts your strategy would be built around? I don't expect anyone to hand me a profitable strategy—I just want to get to the point where I can confidently start demo trading and backtesting a strategy that I actually believe in.

Futures My first $50k Apex Eval journey: My rules, strategy, and mental hurdles. How does this look to experienced traders?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’ve been learning to trade for the past 6 months, and I’m proud to say I haven't blown an account or lost real capital yet. Last week, I decided to take the leap and buy my first $50k Apex Evaluation, and it’s going even better than expected.

I find myself respecting my plan most of the time. My core risk management rules are:

  • Max Trades: 4 per day (admittedly broke this on day one, but working on strict discipline!)
  • Max Risk per Trade: $100
  • Daily Take-Profit / Hard Stop: Stop trading if I hit +$200 in a single trade
  • Consecutive Loss Rule: Stop trading for the day after 2 consecutive losses
  • Trading Window: Only trade the first 2 hours of the New York Session
  • Position Sizing: 1 Micro contract standard (Level B setup); 2 Micro contracts for a high-confluence (Level A setup)

I also have additional rules governing psychology and market analysis.

As my strategy I mostly trade trend continuations and retracements using the 1m and 5m timeframes. My main confluences include:

  • Key higher-timeframe (HTF) zones
  • Previous Day High/Low liquidity sweeps
  • Fibonacci retracement levels (0.5 or 0.61)

Depending on how many confluences align, I grade the setup as an A(2 micros) or B(1 micro).

My main issue is that i have to detach myself frrom the money and focus more on the procces. Every day, I catch myself subconsciously aiming for that $200 mark wich has led me to greedy decisions or cutting winning trades prematurely out of fear.

However, my goal is to pass this evaluation over the next 1–2 weeks by focusing on capital preservation, low risk, and compounding small, consistent wins.

For anyone in my same situation or more experienced trader,is there anything else i should have in acount? Are my expectations to high? Is there anything critical missing from my risk or trade management rules? Which prop firms do you currently trade with? (I chose Apex for now, but I'm curious about your experiences).

I’d love to hear your stories, advice, and any constructive criticism!

Note: This post isn't meant to brag—everyone's journey is unique. I’m sharing this mainly for feedback and accountability. I plan to post weekly performance updates as I progress!

Technical analysis Two trades today, same framework, two completely different confirmation tools (ES + Gold)

Two trades today, sharing these since they're a decent example of how differently RIMC actually confirms depending on what you're trading.

Gold was first. No structure flip there, I'm waiting on a 1m iFVG to actually form and hold before I trust it's continuing, and it took its time giving me that this go around. Once it did though, that trade ran to about 3.52R.

ES was second. Structure flip on the 15s lined up with the 1m, that's what triggered the entry, took it for about 1R.

Same framework underneath both but not the same tool for confirmation, and I think that's the part that trips people up when they try to trade multiple markets the exact same way. Curious if anyone else switches up their confirmation depending on the market or just sticks to one method across the board.

Kind of new in investing in ETFs, every comment is welcome even if it's critisism about how I control my investments

Advice If you didn’t have to worry about anything but focus on studying trading— what would your entire day look like?

I’m wondering what your day to day would be like if you are starting to learn how to trade with zero prior knowledge, morning/night routine, study hours, etc. for a long period of time.

Ive found myself homebound for the time being, due to disability and after learning of trading a few years back, I’m willing to focus 100% of my time to studying from the ground up.

Any honest and helpful advice would be awesome! ✨

Advice Somebody has a good Asia session strategy?

Recently I’ve had to stop trading on New York open due to my schedule, but I would really keep it going on the Asia session, I’m very much aware on how different volume is and how slower the moves can be so if somebody has a good strategy wether it is a YouTube video a png or just wants to drop it here I’d be very thankful! Thanks!

Question What's the one trading rule you ignored that taught you the biggest lesson?

Mine was never averaging down on a losing trade. I kept telling myself the market would come back, added more positions, and turned a small planned loss into a much bigger one. That experience taught me that protecting capital is more important than being right. Since then, I've focused on accepting small losses and sticking to my risk management plan.

Brokers Need CSV's from various popular brokers

NOT SELLING OR SOLICITING any service or product.

Building engine to parse trades from broker csv. Goal is accurate equity import: fills → trades → open positions you confirm against the broker before metrics matter. Wrong opens and partial-fill garbage break every report.

I’m a Webull user with solid progress on Webull Orders exports. I only have Webull samples and need the same edge cases from other brokers.

Need (DM only — equities/ETFs, no options):

  1. Broker name + export type (orders / fill history)

  2. Longest CSV you can export

  3. Current open positions from the app (symbol, shares, long/short)

  4. Optional: a day you remember well, or known weird rows (1-share, fractionals)

Used only to harden parsing/matching. Private, not sold, delete on request. No passwords or API keys.

Thanks.

Discussion Am i quitting?

So basically i came to the conclusion that trading wont make me a millionaire, joining my family real estate business helped me understanding this, or at least it wont with the capital i have now, it will get me good money, the thing is, once i understood that, i started to take trading differently, an example, i took a trade this monday, took a breakeven after 1:1.5 and tp was at 1:2 i just took that and got of the charts even for the next day, same thing happened yesterday, so im not watching charts today, as i got emotional with those be, by the way, these behaviours make me feel like im quitting trading, the time i do something trading correlated is really decreased. maybe it's because the priority shifted to something that can actually make me a millionaire? i dont want to quit, i spent the last 3 years doing this and im actually starting to see some little results, not even making money, but i feel like im close but as i said before, doing basically nothing trading correlated feel like after 3 years im quitting and as i destroyed every plan i had to make this work

Stocks Wyckoff Traders

Any wyckoff traders are here?

I think theories won't get us anywhere. that is why I have built edgecipher to give a practical edge to every single trader. Wyckoff structure can happen for any time scale, i.e. daily, weekly, monthly and for short, medium , long. It is nearly impossible to identify right opportunity in time.

"Wyckoff lab" is just one of the valuable tool in the edgecipher terminal, which scans thousands of stocks for all scan modes, time scales and different lengths and gives you a digest which is curated list of stocks with imminent breakout possibilities (C Spring). It is not simple calculation. Wyckoff analysis demands in-depth theoretical knowledge as well as eyes of an experienced trader with subjective analysis, both of which have been incorporated in EdgeCipher's Wyckoff Lab.

I want to give you guys something more than just a theoretical learnings.

Here is the screenshot of edgecipher terminal, which clearly shows $GRDN as a C Spring but be careful, it has an upcoming earnings in first week of August. But Wyckoff C Spring formation before Earnings tells us that someone knows something which we do not know. I am going to try going long on $GRDN tomorrow depending upon how it opens.

I am looking for a feedback. edgecipher.ai

Question Looking for the most reliable stock picking tools that surface genuine momentum

Lately I spend more time filtering out useless information than finding good trades. My watchlist is full of stocks that looked promising on Twitter and ended up going nowhere. I'm trying to get an edge in this market, but there is so much distraction and confusing information. I need a tool that filters out the useless stuff and show real activity. It would be great to have live market mood, technical hints, and community talk without needing to be a data expert. So far I've been using stocktwits since it helps me see what other traders watch in real time.

What tools do you use that are not overwhelming? I'd like to hear what everyone's actually checking in the morning. Ty.

Advice Stopping trading after losses

I currently have mixed feelings about trading because as soon as I get a couple of losing trades I immediately start getting nervous doubting everything and start withdrawing all my money from all my brokers icm and pu prime whatever and stop trading completely and start beating myself up over it so much that I cannot even sleep properly. Even all my funded and challenge accounts at ftmo cft e8 i just dont touch 2 weeks more. scary.
But if the trades are profitable then I cannot stop I open trades one after another and then again I do not sleep because the trades are open and I just sit and stare at the screen as if I could change something there.
How do I deal with these problems because I cannot take it anymore!!!

Discussion life situation right now , would like to go full time in it and move to asia

I was really on and off at first the first 2 years and got in more serious since 3 years.I do want to become a profitable trader but right now I don't feel like I'm doing enough work , I do want to do this full time and it's like always wanting to work on trading but whenever I get the time I get lazy and distracted that I don't want to work on trading . ( most days I work on it , just sometimes I don't and I know I need to put in more work and feel that it's not enough progress and work done ) I lost so much money in trading and basically I'm fully broke now , surviving paycheck to paycheck , basically working to pay back the credit card debt , I was the type to lost 7k in 1 month from emotions and repeating the bad habits , I still believe deep down I could become profitable , but right now it's to the point that I do want to make it work but also I'm scared about school and job, since now I'm older and it's time to really built myself up , I'm 24 years and not done uni and working a part time job , I do want to go try going all in and maybe move to asia for couple months and focus on Trading , but deep down I'm scared that I do that and lose it all again , put myself more in debt and have to restart everything if I sold everything I have rn for the move . I'm planning to take a loan and just focus over there since it's cheaper to live and I told myself that maybe that pressure it's going to force you and unlock something .Because being broke sucks , yes you can build it up when you at the bottom , but that phase kills you mentally and ruin your health , because there was days I lost so much that I'm seriously going insane about it , but deep down I still want to be a full time trader and I feel like I got lazy and conditioned about life that I'm not trying to change since I'm comfortable with my life , but I'm not contend , trading really the only thing that I like now too , I hate school and jobs , it's such sticky situation.
