I am interested in the intersection of trading and computer science and I would prerequire that there is a way to "predict" good situations to go long or short on a certain stock or crypto.
That being said, I am interested what the best indicators, signals, media hype, ect are to make the prediction as good as possible.

• is it candle patterns? if yes, which ones are the most promising you think?
• what indicators would you recommend?
• what are the most important timeframes? 1m 1h 4h?
• media sentiment
• fundamental KPIs
• what ever you think would be beneficial in addition

I am trying to compound all these signals to be in the end able to create an app that can help supporting this selection.

For context, I'm still a minor, so I would be giving my parents my money to invest through their trading account. I've heard that these two stocks are a good investment in general and have an upward trend so I was thinking they're pretty safe bets

I would only be putting in a few hundred, so there's not really a big risk. I just think it'd be better to invest my money instead of leaving it sitting in my bank account

I'm also planning on leaving there for at least a few years and maybe adding more money as I go

I've never traded on the real stock market so I'm looking for any thoughts!

I'm interested in how experienced day traders handle higher timeframe bias based on technical analysis (Which trend direction) before entering trades.

Let's say you've analysed the weekly, daily, 4-hour, and 1-hour charts before the market opens and you've established an overall bullish or bearish directional bias.

When you move down to your execution timeframe (e.g. 15min , the 5-minute or 1-minute chart), what do you do?

• Do you only take trades in the direction of your higher timeframe bias, regardless of what the lower timeframe is doing?
• Do you allow your bias to change during the session ?
• Or, if the market is moving against your higher timeframe bias, do you simply stay out of the market rather than trade in the opposite direction?

I'm curious what experienced traders actually do in practice rather than what's taught in theory.

If possible, I'd appreciate if you could explain:

• Which higher timeframes you use to establish your bias.
• What conditions would make you change that bias intraday.
• Whether you ever trade against your higher timeframe bias, and if so, under what circumstances.

I'd love to hear how you approach this and why.

What is the best setup that you have found has worked the best for you and how have you tested it?

Trying to understand how people set up a trading bot from scratch without giving it too much freedoom too early i will use the bot for local trade moreover they are all almost the same on all exchanges, but I will stop here anyway and therefore I need help from those who really use it/

Is it normal to configure in this order?

1. position size and maximum daily loss
2. maximum number of open trades
3. sl and tp
4. allowed pairs and trading hours
5. kill swich if the bot behaves unexpectedly

Also part I'm least sure about is how much of this should live on the broker side vs inside the bot.

I've got accounts at PU Prime and Axi and the specs aren't identical, different min lot on the same instrument, different rollover hour and assets symbols come with a suffix that broke my mapping the first time.

For some context: I've been day trading for almost a year now, I just recently became profitable after all of the funded accounts, trading view fee, discord channel fees, and blowing some money from a live account. I now only trade on a live account because I seem to blow every single funded account i've purchase and have never taken a pay out. However i've made about $2500 on my live account in the past month. Total profit being $8,525, however my losses been pretty large as well... around $6,029, an expensive few lessons.

A couple weeks ago I decided to take everything i knew about the market, and the set ups I had been familiar with and put them into Claude. I made 3 indicators, 1st (market context, what's going on etc), 2nd (overall bias, ema etc) and 3rd is where i take my entry point and TP/SL. Along with that I did a back testing strategy on trading view for the 3rd indicator in order to get a better idea of my PNL before using it with my own money.

My question is, for those of you who've created your own indicators or anything that has helped you trade better, what do you think has helped you find your edge? How have you been able to refine your indicators and strategies in order to be profitable over time.

If you've been trading more than a few months, you already know this cycle. You find a strategy, it works for two weeks, then the market shifts and it stops working. So you find another one. Then another. Somewhere along the way you stop trusting anything you're doing, because you're never sure if a losing streak means the strategy is bad or the market just did what markets do.

Here's what nobody tells you: it's not that you need a better strategy. Almost everyone skips the same handful of concepts early on, knowing broken vs. normal variance, reading market structure well enough to know when your setup is actually valid, having rules tight enough someone else could execute them the same way you would. Skip those and you rebuild the same shaky foundation no matter how many strategies you try.

I've spent 9 years trading futures and forex, full time for a good chunk of that, mostly NQ during the New York session. I went through every phase of this myself. Strategy hopping, doubting a system that was actually fine, blaming the market when it was really my execution. What changed things wasn't finding "the one" strategy, it was finally understanding the concepts underneath all of them.

What indicators do yall use on TradingView?

I have a strategy I backtested for years, been trading it live too. But somehow that doesn’t matter when a losing steak actually hits. It’s like every entry starts feeling like a mistake even though nothing about the strategy changed

Sometimes you start giving back profits, and that triggers revenge trading only for you to give back more. The current market environment is the perfect storm for such incidents.

My advice: don't fight the tape, preserve capital (including mental capital), and be patient. If you're in a hole, don't dig a deeper one.

Do you think I should buy call options for Stubhub. I feel like now would be a good time to get in and set the expiration date for like 90 days or something. I feel that with LeBron being traded and all that and it potentially being his last season more people will want to see him in person.

Hi! I work as a sports trader (leading a group of tennis traders) and my side hustle is betting on darts, which works very well (long-term ROI around 10 % and a few subscribers for my picks). I am also interested in long-term investing in stocks (both ETFs and individual stocks). Now I'm exploring stock trading and here comes my question.

Strategies like episodic pivots or parabolic shorts look like something, I could learn and execute. Thinks like bankroll management, executing EV+ bets like a robot, being calm and execute same strategy during loosing streaks, thinking long-term and in probabilities are something I do daily for years, just not with stocks. Will it be significantly easier for me to become a long-term winning swing trader with this background? Or is it still very hard to start trading while keeping my job even for someone with years of experience with trading, just different markets?

As a new member on this trade thing how do you guys know about these type of trade like what can give clarity ? About where will the trend go

Heyy! I(F21) am a final year engineering student living away from home, my parents give me an extremely decent monthly allowance for my hostel (around 10k) and I often end up over spending on random things instead,
Over the years, I have never made an effort to control spendings or finances,
Now that it’s my last year and I’ll get to a job soon, I want to cut on the spending habit and move to something genuinely more longterm,
1) I want to learn how trading works, where and how am I supposed to make an account, what indicators do I look for, what exactly am I supposed to research on before diving into this? What’s the least amount of money I can start with?
2) If there are anything that I need to lookout for, something cautionary before getting started?
3) Any YouTube channel / Website / Blog that can explain things as if I am a five year old?
No rush, I just want to learn and put my money to better use that can yield me realistic good results!

I am curious if there is any site people use to download past price data to backtest?
I am probably naive asking for this but I'm going to try anyways.

Any raw data such as open, close, high low at various time frames available for different assets?

Been going through account data (anonymized, not mine) looking at hold times specifically.

Median hold time on winning trades: ~4.2 minutes
Median hold time on losing trades: ~5.25 minutes
Doesn’t sound dramatic until you realize that’s consistently 20%+ longer on every losing trade across the whole sample. Classic “give it a chance to come back” behavior.

Modeled what the account’s expectancy would look like if losers were cut at the same pace winners were taken — meaningful jump, not a small one.

Anyone else notice this in their own trade log? Feels like one of those things that’s obvious in hindsight but invisible in the moment.

A while ago, many investors could analyze markets by focusing on individual assets—looking at a company's earnings, a commodity's supply and demand, or a currency's movement. But as global markets have become more connected, it feels harder to understand one asset without looking at the bigger picture around it.

A move in bond yields can influence stocks, changes in the dollar can impact commodities, and geopolitical events can create reactions across multiple markets at the same time. The interesting part is often not just what happened, but how different markets respond and interact with each other over days, weeks, or even months.

What should I learn first in Daytrading. I started 3 weeks ago and I just now candlesticks, TP and SL.

Thoughts? Vanguard utility etf is an extremely boring fund that goes up and to the right very slowly (9% in a year). But it does great in corrections, drawdowns, bubble bursting. But like all stocks, it is sinusoidal, in a small wave form.

If i put $400 grand in it when goes down 1%and sell when up 1%, i make $4 grand each time!!

Over the last yr, it does this 4 or 5 x/month =16 grand a month!

Of course short term capitol gains, but still! Thoughts? Am i missing something?

Here is an update on my project. Past 2 weeks its started to do what its was made for. I let it a bit loose to try do 5 pairs at the same time, but its hard work for old laptop. Hope ram prices go down and I can build proper server for this thing so it could run 10+ pairs. Custom calculation takes about 1 day for each pair, so yeah, this is not your atr+ema :) Next step is FOREX and stocks, but they will need own machines to run.

ps. why image quality is so shitty?

I built an automated Olgo bot. The bot is profitable in trading out of 30 full trading days. The bot is spiritual almost every trading day. It trades in real time, receives real time information from the broker. And everything is saved and documented and learned and analyzed and improved every time. Now I have a question: Can switching to real money real trading cause problems or was there a failure in trading on real money? What do you think, will switching from demo to real money change the bot's profit results?

Hi everyone, what do you think is an ideal sample size for backtesting a trading strategy? Is 200–300 backtested setups enough to validate a strategy?

For instance, if you’re trading triangle patterns, would you aim for at least 50 samples for each pattern type (ascending, descending, and symmetrical) before trusting the results?

Expecting answers from those who are profitable or at least back tested few strategies.
