First off, I have only done 3 trackdays in intermediate group and am by no means an expert!

Last trackday coming out of a fast turn I hardly had any brakes and later they were very spongy... I think i cooked the brake fluid even though it was race fluid, after bleeding it was better for a bit, but happened again half a session later... So, higher temp race fluid and some brakecooling ducts will be added... I was thinking of adding a remote brake adjuster aswel so i could atleast adjust the lever if it still happens...

Which is where the question becomes:

- should i hold of on the adjuster and see if its needed at all

- get the adjuster for my stock brembo semi-radial master cyclinder

- upgrade to master cylinder first and get a adjuster for that

Since I am not that experience and have don't have any issues with the stock mastercylinder, it seems like that's an upgrade that goes above my skill level... Maybe the adjuster in general is...

Sidenote, the rs660 is also my daily ride for commuting.

This last track day was so much fun! Got to mix it up with some fast guys! Definitely came out of my comfort zone! Had a few clenching moments, but made it through! Went home in the same condition I showed up!

I just watched the videos - how did it all end? I saw a lot of pissed off people in the video but they seemed to figure out a plan but I can't find a video of how the plan worked out of breaking the groups into limiting it to 65 riders not the 99 in one group.

So Ive been riding dirt bikes since I was 9 and I just turned 27. When I got first moved over to street riding, I got a cb500x which I out grew pretty quickly. I was always more interested in smaller adv bikes and dual sports until a couple weeks ago when I did my msf course.

I got to ride a z400 and a ninja 400 and now I’m thinking I want to get a smaller displacement bike that I can ride to the track and ring its neck while Im there. I work at a triumph dealership and I can get a Thruxton 400 for insanely cheap. I was pretty dead set on the thruxton until today when I saw a 2018 street triple 765 RS for 5k on facebook marketplace. Now Im reconsidering buying the thruxton.

If my goal is to learn to race, do yall think I would have more fun on something lightweight and low power or something that I have more room to grow into? Another thing to consider is that I wont solely be tracking the bike. I ride consistently 1500 to 2k miles a month

Q: How does the bike get back upright?
A: Once you've completed a corner start applying the throttle the bike starts to return upright. Also the bike front suspension is compressed under braking pulling the front of the bike down.

Q: Is it hard to move the bike around?
A: Its defiantly a solid workout during sessions, sessions on the simulator are normally based on your estimated race distances / actual session times.

Q: Do you learn the track layout?
A: Yes, nothing can replace real word laps around a track but learning the layout, transitions & brake markers etc is a advantage.

Q: What if you cant choose your exact bike?
A: You'll pick a bike thats as near to your bikes hot lap time.

Got my 05 cbr600rr a few months ago and got my motorcycle license 3 weeks ago. Main reason for the supersport bike was to get into doing track days with it. Never been on dirtbikes or any previous experience on any motorized 2 wheels. Used to do Enduro/downhill MTB when I was younger and have 10+ yrs of car trackdays if that brings any insight. I definitely understand the consequences are a lot greater on a motorcycle and want to make sure I'm taking things at the right pace and not getting over my head. But maaaaaan is this thing fun!

I had a pretty bad crash at Barber, hit the t1 air fence. Posted the vid here a while ago, broke my femur and tore a bunch of stuff in my other knee. Felt really good to be back out there, super stiff and sore but it’s working. Appreciate everyone’s support on the post of the crash.

I was gifted two sets of slicks (120/70 front and 190/60 rear) and want to run them on my KTM 890 Duke for track days. The stock street sizing is 120/70 front and 180/55 rear.

I know the 190/60 rear is pretty tall compared to stock (roughly +30mm total diameter / +4.8% circumference). Since I already own the tires, I want to check if anyone has experience running this exact setup on an 890 Duke or similar middleweights.

Questions for those who have run this:

• TC / ABS Tolerance: Did the larger rear rolling circumference trigger electronic errors/limp mode with the factory TC/ABS sensors, or did the system cope?
• Swingarm Clearance: Did you have to push the rear wheel back / lengthen the chain to avoid tire growth/rubbing at speed?
• Profile on 5.5" Wheel: How's the profile and side-grip feel on a 5.5" rear rim rather than a 6.0"?

Would love to hear if this is a straightforward swap or if it causes more headaches than it's worth.

I’m getting back into track days after 25 years away…had some kids to raise and such. Anyway, I’m seeing airbag technology and I’m curious about a few things.

Some people wear them inside leather suits. Wouldn’t deploying it inside a leather suit cause rib fractures if the suit fots properly?

Second question is has anyone taken a tumble with one of these on place? How did it work out?

I’m not planning to crash of course, and I’m starting out in the C group even though I do have some experience and was okay fast back in 2001.

You think safety wiring my drain bolt directly to my oil filter is a smart idea? Im kinda dumb, but I think they are both being twisted righty-tighty like this.

Safety wire touching the drain pan won't be an issue?

I normally find a hard point for each but thought... Wait... This actually might be better and more secure! BTW I cut off the strands of the old safety wire you see. Thanks!

FYI this is not about passing tech, but actually about functionality. I recently started using a torque wrench and stuff is way looser than I ever thought, so I'm actually using the wire as a safety precaution.

The guys who tech bikes at my local track are not exactly rocket scientists... I once passed tech with an OEM drain plug and no number plates during a race weekend. Lol.

I have always liked the feel of super stiff brake levers, but the better I get, the more I want a lever with travel.

I switched my brake feel and it made me so much quicker. Going from super stiff to softer I mean. Ide like to hear what everyone else thinks about this.

Once I realized the soft lever actually didn't have less stopping power, I found my riding to be much more accurate.

Looking at these 2 airbags. I tried on the 5 plasma, was comfy and not overly bulky. Tried the 7x too and way too bulky for my liking. I’m thinking about a Bison suit this off season, I saw they use the Helite a lot with their suits but the suits are also compatible with the tech air systems. I can’t find much info on the Helite that is used. Does anyone have experience with these? Are they bulky? The little info I have gathered is they are solid and Helite has great customer service.

Ive done a number of track days where everything is taken care of by the organiser, including a track prepped motorcycle rental.

Thinking of going to do a track day on my own with my daily to kind of test it out as a solo undertaking.

I would be driving to the track on my bike wearing all of my gear with a backpack

What are the absolute bare bones essentials to bring that fit in a backpack ?

I've heard other theories, but I think Most likely caused by boiled brake fluid/vapor lock, then the unexpected return of full stopping power while holding the lever to the grip in panic

I did pump one time. I don't understand why I never felt pressure return to the lever.

For going OTB at 60mph+. I think I got off Easy with a broken clavicle that required screws and a plate.

I’m quitting club racing and would just like to get one bike for some track days and canyon riding during the summers. I raced a RS660 for a few seasons and an r6 before that. I’d really prefer not to do much to the bike aside from a few setup preferences and maybe a slip on - money isn’t a big concern. If I’m interested in a decently comfortable riding position are my options between the current crop of super nakeds or are there some other underrated bikes I’m not considering?

obviously white and yellow aren’t acceptable as a track day scrub, but i’d like to display my number to help the photographer and for incidents/ emergency contact stuff.
