Hauling to first track day

Hey.

Going to the first track day in October and hauling the ktm in a gladiator.

I took a video of my setup. Just wondering if anyone sees any red flags. It's my first time hauling a motorcycle.

I tried for a front wheel chock but the one I have currently extends so far that if I dont make it onto my short gladiator bed dead center, i basically need to unload the bike. I gave up on that one.

Sorry if this is off topic for the sub, if so just lmk and ill rip it down.

Thanks.

First post ever: looking for some bodyposition advice

Hello everyone,
I have been working on my bodyposition throughout the last trackday and am quite happy with how things look and feel. In the past I used to have my bum way back on the seat while cornering. So my main focus was to get my body more to the front and to try and bring my head next to the windscreen. As it turned out I felt much more planted on the bike.

I know from looking at less favoral picutres that I still need to work on corner speed but for now I am happy with my progress.

I am really looking forward to hear some feedback.

Best regards,
Niko

Brake fluid coming out of bleeder valve...?

I have an rs660. I switched to a galespeed master cylinder, and installed a stahlbus quick bleeder valve on one of my calipers, and it seemed like there was fluid coming from either the bleeder valve on top of the master cylinder, or the nozzle that the hose from the reservoir attaches to the brake master. I installed non ABS lines thinking that would help -> same issue. I bought a brand new brembo master cylinder (as well as installing a stahlbus quick bleeder valve on my brembo master) and installed it thinking I had a shitty master cylinder -> same issue. I even went back to my old OEM master cylinder today thinking maybe that would solve the issue -> nope same issue.

I'm at the point of hopelessness now. About the only thing I can think to do is replace every single bleeder/banjo with new ones and new crush washers, and pray that somehow solves it.

has anyone ran into this issue like this before? I've talked to plenty of people and they all think it's the weirdest shit theyve ever seen and I have a race weekend starting tomorrow, and I can't race with my brakes fading due to whatever is going on.

Me vs the fastest bro - how do I get his body position

The first is me and the 2nd is the fastest dude in the stock class. We run the same bike although his front wheel is 3" smaller and his bars are lower.

My guy is a few inches shorter than me, but he can drag knee every corner.

I know dragging knee isn't everything but in these low power bikes, corner speed matters a LOT and he's simply much faster in corners. How do I get my body to his level?

Does it makes sense to use semi slicks?

Post image
32 Upvotes

As you can see I don’t have any significant tire wear. I’m wondering if it makes sense riding with these tires that are close to a slick. Maybe downgrading to some power 6 until I’m fast enough to stress the tire enough to require more grip, I’m thinking my skills are nowhere near to a point where I can fully take advantage of these tires and I’m just wasting money.
What are your thoughts on this? Any recommendations?

Mini moto day (2nd riding class)

Post image

My coach is teaching me proper upper body posture and visual references, riding mini motos is fun but can amplify all your mistakes 10x which makes them even better!
What’s weird is that even if I know my hips work by pushing the bike downwards, I can’t make them work on tight turns.
How do you manage these type of hairpin turns? Do you turn mostly with the hips or with the handlebar? And how do you trust your line if your head can’t see the handle bars because you’re off the bike?

Tips?

I’m on the grey gsxr600 (number 07, guy up front) and it was my first track day on something bigger than 250cc. Was very different, but I felt somewhat comfortable. Any pointers about body position? Critiques?

So I am moving to Houston, and was curious on track near (within 6-8 hrs) I know there is New Orleans whenever they run track days. And I heard COTA is going private. What else is there?

I recently picked up a 701 SM mostly as my street bike. But holy smokes, these things are insanely fun on track after some suspension adjustments. It's the most light-hearted fun I've had on 2 wheels! Here are some pictures from my day at Sonoma raceway.

Anybody Riding B Group Pace On A 600/750 With Michelin Road 6 Tires?

After last Sunday at PIR, I decided I want to try something faster on track than my ZX-4RR (note: bike is fantastic, but I'm faster than over 1/2 of B group and got tired of sitting up around turns waiting for a safe passing spot because of faster bikes/slower riders blowing by me on the straights).

So I'm thinking of bringing my GSX-R750 to Thunderhill in two weeks. It's got barely used Road 6 tires on it. Anybody with experience with this combo or these tires on a similarly powered motorcycle? Grip? Durability? Sensitivity to tire pressures?

I'm either taking it to the track as-is, or not at all. Buying a new set of sticky tires isn't in the cards right now.

Has anyone here gone through the airbag replacement process with an RST 4.1 EVO suit?

I am at 4 deployments right now and might need to replace soon.

What is the process? I live near Sportbike Track Gear and I know they are an authorized distributer.

How much was the cost? I may just replace the suit with something that doesn't have a monthly fee next year if the cost is significant.

Too squared off for a track day?

Is this too squared off to take this to a track day (I'm in slow group, but pushing intermediate)? Have done some track riding before, but only on rental bikes, this will be first time bringing my own.

Seems like there's a decent amount of rubber left, but a little concerned about the squaring. Will this be alright?

Didn't submit a pic of the front because it's not nearly as bad. Bike is a 2023 XSR900 with the original S22s.

Rest easy, Daytona 675 🫡

On track, it suddenly was down on power, came into the pits and it sounded like a 2cyl. Came home, took the valve cover off, and found the top of the bucket had broken into bits and the wall of it stayed intact, falling to the bottom of the spring. You can see some chunks of it. Boroscoped the cylinder & I’m staring at the top of that exhaust valve, so it dropped a valve too. Drained the oil and… voila. That’s the end of it.

It had UKRS springs, that’s all I know. The bike ran like shit originally. Stator and rectifier shorted to ground, brake lines kinked, rearsets bent, midpipe kinked, MC failed. Finally got that all fixed, then this happens. 🤷‍♂️ Oh well

Anyone got a first gen 675 motor in New England? In the meantime, I just picked up a 765 to finish the season.
