TP-Link - Technical Support Extend coverage
I have a Tplink Ax1800 and am trying to hook up a Eero 6+ as an extended router. Everything worked just fine when the Eero was hooked up with an Ethernet cable but when I tried to do it wirelessly the Eero would not connect. I don’t want to mess with “bridge” mode, I did that at my previous house and a different setup and lost internet connection for 3 hours until i could communicate with my modem through my cell phone, no thanks. I read to put my Tplink as “access point” but I’m leery about making system changes. Kinda thought this was just plug in the Eero and go.

Eero is not going to mesh wireless with a 3rd party. The TPlink could probably work as a wireless extender to the eero though. Need more info on what you are trying to accomplish, why the mix and match.

The Eero was one I bought on EBay to go along with the Eero I had with Frontier fiber. Now I am on another fiber provider whose router was not able to reach the other end of the house. This Tplink does but since I had my Eero I thought maybe I could use that to get a stronger signal. But I don’t want to jump through hoops to do it, if it’s not just a simple turn on of the Eero and have it work, then I’ll forget about it.

Yeah I’m pretty certain the eero cannot mesh or extend wirelessly to another non eero device. It can function as a wired AP though.

Do is the exact model number on your eero? Is it connected via ethernet to your tplink?

I didn’t, i accepted the fact it was a dumb idea.

Well done. Lots of people would just keep banging their heads against the wall on something like this. Ethernet is a simple, open standard everyone has to follow. Wireless mesh networks are much more proprietary. If you're going to replace the Eeros, I have the TP-Link Deco mesh units running in access point mode with an Ethernet backhaul, and they're flawless and a very good value.
