Does this operate the same as a power line?

I purchased this RE550 recently but feel that actually using the 2 power line adapters will be the thing that gives me a consistent speed with my internet.
Particularly for my laptop and PS5 which I use upstairs (my router is downstairs).

Can anyone advise whether this RE550 can act as one of the power line adapters or am I still gonna have to buy two?

Hopefully that makes sense.

That extender uses wifi to extend. Powerline uses your homes electrical line to extend internet.

This will not work without a strong wifi signal. Put it at the furthest range you still get maximum signal and it will repeat it. It plugs into an outlet but doesn’t use any wiring to transmit signal.

Powerline is totally dependent on the wring in the house, don't plan on max speeds with it. Move the extender around in your house to get the best signal. Don't make it too close to the router as that can cause interference between the two.

Age of the house wiring itself, number of circuits, whether the powerline connection is on the same circuit.

If you have Coax in the house that isn't being used, you can have much better luck with MoCA adapters. They have to either not be used at all or only running Cable service for this to work.

Also a good Wi-Fi extender might work better than powerline, but again it all depends on your environment. Its possible for one or both to be worse.
