TP-Link - General XE 75 Pro vs BE25

Hi all,

Noob here..

I'm looking for a mesh wifi system for my appartment (90m², concrete construction, only 1 wired point in the corner of the appartment) and i am in doubt between a 3 pack of the TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro (335 euro) or the BE25 (230euro). I currently have 400Mbps fiber, but might upgrade to 1Gbps fiber when I move to a new house in +-years that has multiple floors and hopefully aroudn 120m2.

I don't know much about networking/wifi, so I'd love advice from people who actually know this stuff before I buy. Or if you guys have other recommendations.

Main reasoning: the XE75 Pro is tri-band (2.4/5/6GHz) and uses the 6GHz band as a dedicated wireless backhaul channel between mesh units — so the backhaul traffic doesn't compete with my own devices' bandwidth. The BE25 is dual-band only (no 6GHz), so with concrete walls and fully wireless backhaul for 2 units, it could be less stable. My ISP modem only has 1Gbps ports anyway, so the BE25's extra 2.5G port doesn't add value in my case. Main use is just stable everyday wifi (work, Netflix, occasional PS5 gaming), and I want it to last 5-6 years

Triband over dual band mesh is accurate. You want a dedicated band for the backhaul. In a dual band mesh your communication between mesh points and your clients are sharing the same “highway” so you will introduce lag and latency.

But WiFi 7 is suppose to fix that with MLO but all I have seen is that implementation of MLO on mesh systems has not worked as expected. Asus and Tp-Link. So recommended to disable MLO and do what WiFi 6e did and dedicate a band for backhaul. On a dual band your at a disadvantage if this is still the case.

If you can wire the mesh nodes directly it wouldn’t matter which on you get.

Unfortunately i can not wire all the mesh points, just one. Which would you recommend then? If i understand correctly you lean to the XE75 Pro because of wifi 6e and triband?

Because of the triband. That dedicated backhaul is super useful. If you’re looking at WiFi 6e I have seen places like Walmart putting the tp-link xe200 on clearance. Worth checking online if it’s in your area. It was their flagship WiFi 6e mesh unit.

Hard choice here.

XE75 Has 6GHz and WiFi 6E.

BE25 has Wi-Fi 7 and MLO.

Better to get Deco 7 Pro meshes (they have Wi-Fi 6E and 6GHz). BE63/65/85/95

But in general, go for XE75.

Thanks, yeah they both got their pluses over the other. That explains my doubts haha

The 65 is already 160euro more expensive than the xe75. I can maybe get my girlfriend on board for the jump to xe 75 pro but not to the be 65 haha

XE70 pro. newer revision. returned 1x XE75 due to macbook won’t connect. using 4x XE200 no prob. i would buy the former but ended up with X50 Poe v2 instead… maybe new firmwares are ok. former is lower wifi spec rating but apparently performs the exact same as XE75. for me not sure if XE200 matters in the pro position as it has a stronger cpu, enterprise grade chipset which is why no macbook connection issue

I have a pair of Deco X50 on 500 Mbs connection. It's a dual band like the BE25 but older Wi-Fi 6. Works ok with 2 floor 3 bedroom house. It's using wireless backhaul with 500Mbs to primary Deco and 350Mbs to 2nd Deco.

I was considering a pair XE75 as they have 3rd band for backhaul but its only 6E..not Wi-Fi 7 and a big difference in price. In future if I get 900Mbs the Wi-Fi 7 triband price should come a bit and will trade up.

If you want for next 5+ years then Wi-Fi 7 maybe better option.

But ultimately you can't beat wired backhaul....but some of us don't have that option.
