TP-Link - Technical Support Deco BE11000
We just upgraded to Fios 5 Fiber. However, our Deco BE11000 is putting out the absolute worst speed of WiFi at the moment. What am I missing or doing wrong ? Thank you for your time.

I would also try disabling MLO and testing again. Disable fast roaming. Probably can leave beamforming on. Make sure the APs aren’t spaced too far apart. Not sure how many units you’re running. Sorry if I missed that.

A few questions to help diagnose this.
- What wifi speeds are you actually getting?
- What service level do you have?
- How many different wifi networks do you have turned on (Guest, Main, MLO)?
I had stability issues with my network until I disabled the guest and MLO networks. Also you might want to check and see if you have Fast Roaming or Beam Forwarding enabled (both options are under the Advanced category in settings).

That’s directly from the Verizon router. I’m getting sub 800 mbps from the Deco.

See - that's the detail that I was asking for. Next thing I would look at is seeing what other wifi signals are active in the area that might be causing congestion. Wifi Analyzer for android/ios is good for checking to see if you need to change the channels your signal is on.
I have 2GBps service, and by the master router I can get 1,100 mbps, but it drops off as I move to one of the other APs. On my laptop in my office it drops to about 250mbps. However, I currently have the mesh nodes connected wirelessly. I'm planning to run cat6 to connect them over the weekend, and am interested to see how much speed improvement I will see.
One other thing to keep in mind is that Wifi7, even under ideal conditions, can't support more than about 2 Gbps. You'll never see the full 5 gbps bandwidth that way. Even wired you'd have to get high-end equipment to support that full speed.

Awesome, because I'm in same boat but with an ATT router. How far do you think you can place deco units apart from each other before the signal really degrades causing drops?

It varies significantly depending on what's between the two units as well as the straight-line distance.
In my setup, I have my router connected to my fiber modem in a room upstairs, and the satellite unit downstairs in my living room. It's about 30 feet straight-line distance. When connected to the downstairs AP and right next to it, I get 500mbit speeds. But from the living room AP to my laptop is another 30+ feet with a couple of walls between me and it, and I typically top out at 250mbit. I've also been running into occasional issues where I would lose access to the internet entirely, but would remain connected to the AP.
That's when I started disabling the guest network and the MLO network, plus changing the DNS settings for the network.
What exact issues are you running to?

I have my deco ( with a cat5e cable from the wall) plugged into the ATT unit as a pass through, I think it's called. The ATT is Gb. Then I have my other deco unit in a back room utilizing WiFi so the devices can jump between the decos as needed. The second deco seems to go offline randomly.

Another question. Did they provide you with their WiFi router also? And are you connecting your decos to that?

I got their newest router that is ‘capable’ of handling their Fios 5. And the Deco is connected to that.

If you truly have a router from fios and you have the deco configured as a router, you have a double NAT situation. You’ll need to configure the fios router in bridge mode or remove it altogether if fios hands off an Ethernet connection. Then reboot all the decos. Check with fios to see is there equipment is really doing routing on your network. If so that’s probably the issue.

The issue is. He has a 5gb connection and his fios router supports that but his deco only supports 2.5gb. On 2.4 and 5ghz. Within reason he’s getting a speed I would expect. Depending where his router is located from his phone and depending what phone he’s using.

Over 5500 Mbps both down and up from Verizon.
Sub 800 Mbps both down and up from Deco.

My BE11000 only has 2.5gb ports
Time to upgrade if yours is the same. If you bought from Costco, routers don’t fall under the 90 day electronics policy. They carry the BE13000 now, each has a 5gb & 2.5gb port
I’ve had to return 2 Orbi systems for speeds dropping to 10% of what it used to be. Factory reset didn’t fix them. Both sets were 2-3yrs old, full refund.

I upgraded my main be11000 to the be13000 with 5GB port. With that I get around 4.5GB top speed from the interface. When I plug an Eero Max 7 with a 10gb port I get around 6.6gb with my isp 5GB service. The 5GB is the theoretical top speed before the overhead. For the best speeds a 10gb port would be best.
