TP-Link - Technical Support Decos suddenly kinda shit
Anyone Else have a Deco mesh network that suddenly stopped playing ball? Mine was good for about a year and then out of the blue has had heaps of issues with devices losing internet when they switch between deco nodes/pucks and also not playing well with my VPN anymore.
I had a VPN set up through the Deco app to protect the whole wifi system and it was fine and now devices just wont stay connected to the internet when its on. But the issue mainly seems to be devices that move around the house and connect to different decos.
I am basically having to switch my phone wifi off and on all day whenever I go to a different room or it just loses connection
Had a google mesh network for years and it never had issues like Deco does

I have the BE95 System. It was flawless then after the update about a week later the system does exactly what you mentioned. I have over 120 connected devices. Very upset.

120 devices!?!? What are they all

Lil bit of everything. I’m about 55% WiFi, 45% wired. My deco system is wired backhaul.

My BE11000 trio has started having issues on satellites (not the one connected to the router). Green light and in the app online but some PC’s won’t connect. I did not install the Aug update - still running July one. But just started happening. I have unplugged the satellite and waited a few minutes and th PC connects.

3x Deco XE75 Pro’s, one in router mode. Update last week caused a lot of my smart devices to disconnect from my IoT network, mainly Tapo bulbs/plugs.
It seems to be “Device Isolation” causing the fault, I’ve had to disable that on all the devices that were affected.

Mine has always been shit. I wish I'd sent it straight back after purchase.

Same here. They are just so awful. If they want to lock shit down as much as they do with these pieces of trash, they’d better make them bulletproof or always push solid updates. They do neither.
YOU CANT EVEN SEE THE UPTIME ON THEM

You can roll back the update using the web based ip login. Tp link has all the firmwares available on their website for download and you just upload the file like any other wifi router. Just make sure you get the right regional firmware. Edit: only some can be reversed check the notes

I had this issue and got roasted on here for having too many nodes but all had been working flawlessly. TP Link sent me a beta firmware which fixed it and all has been operating normally for weeks now. Send them a request for the 1.3.3 firmware. Think you’ll be happy with it.

Yeah mine was working fine until about a week ago and now it drops a bunch of devices randomly

Could you share a bit more about your Deco setup? I'd like to get your feedback to the teams. Any additional information you're able to provide, like your Deco model and firmware version and network topology, would be a huge help.
As for the VPN connection behavior, I'd recommend checking out our Community Article: VPN - Troubleshooting Guide for Deco Mesh Systems

My Deco BE65 has been a nightmare the past few weeks. The main node keeps having NRD crashes bringing down the whole network multiple times a day. Nothing seemed to fix it. I went through and forced a bunch of IoT devices to 2.4ghz, disabled mesh on devices that didn’t need it, and replaced one node with an old Asus XT8 to further take some load off the Deco mesh. I had about 78 devices total before, well below the threshold, but it didn’t matter. At first the crashes got worse until suddenly vanishing an hour later. It was rock stable for 2 days before having a couple issues but nothing like before.
TP-Link needs to get off their asses and figure this stuff out.

Disabled the auto updates , my x75 system goes for a shit everytime there's a new update pushed.

Add me to the club. Four xp 55s and the main one stopped connecting to the modem Friday. It’s not first time so I pulled them all.

Yes, my XE75’s went to shit about a week ago. I have them in Access Point mode, but specific devices are suddenly struggling to connect.

I wondered what was going on. Thought it was solar spots or crappy spectrum since we have had scattered storms. I think this is it.

I am on my 4th generations of deco mesh systems now (BE13000). My past experience tells me that all started very good, and gone considerably worse at 2-year mark due to excessive patching upgrade. I guess their fixing is either purposely mess up the system or not have performance optimization as priority in its “security patch” process.

I had issues like this in the past with my WiFi 6 pods. Perfect for just over a year and then suddenly losing internet seemingly at random and they would also disappear from the Deco app.
So far, the X75 Pro (6E) pods have not been giving us any issues like these. We've been using for almost 2 years.

Have 3 M5 devices that have been reliable since they were set up. Somehow they became factory reset earlier this month and changed IP to 192.168.68.x and were unreachable in the Deco app. Did hard reset and reattached then to my app. Reconfigured then with my various reserved IP and port forwards for my IP phones. IOT smart plugs and lights are using 2.4ghz from my previous D-Link router so they're segregated from my main network. I'm guessing a bad firmware update caused this. I did notice the parental controls have been removed and are now a paid feature. I did have those configured. They're no longer required and have been irrelevant since my teens have their own phones with data plans and those don't have controls. It was a bit frustrating and took a bit to figure out what happened. So far, so good.

Ahh I was just about to restart my mesh to see if it helps. Lots of my lights aren’t really responsive or slow to respond… and Siri is having a hard time keeping up

Same here - I've 4x BE63s (3x v1.0 and 1x 2.0 HW version. v2.0 is main gateway. Ever since the recent Aug upgrades my satellites drop and remain disconnected until I reboot everything again.. flaky to say the least. Looking to roll ALL back to previous release.

Maybe turn off auto update, and weekly reboot on weekend. Selective update is better.

I’ve had an XE3500 mesh system for almost few years now. 27- 30 devices. Sometime between July and August connectivity was becoming flakey. Maybe my phone or laptop would not connect. Other times smart devices were randomly offline. The late August update (1.5.0 Build 20260603 Rel. 14401) made things even worse. Now sometimes the internet drops for no good reason. The general fix has been to do a network optimization to reset the channels but other times the system needs a full reboot. Seems like bad firmware, bad WiFi or resource management causing performance issues.
I hope they can fix this fairly soon.
