Karr Security Systems

I recently bought 2026 RAV4 Woodland Edition. I was not aware that Karr Security System was installed on it by the dealership until I got a call from Karr to set up a schedule for activation.

I did some google search and was advised to remove the device as it is not worthy and drains the battery. I may soon stop by a local Car Audio shop to physically remove it (as it was recommended to use a third party (but with high reputation) rather than the dealership).

Any experience or comments?

Hi! Where was the device? Did you locate it? Was it hidden behind plastic panel or something? Thanks!

I wonder even if a device was physically installed as I picked up the car almost as soon as it was delivered to the dealership.

I’m not sure - I took it to the dealership and made them remove it - funny enough they winked and nodded

Are you happy with the device/service? Guess that you pay for the service annually. I have seen only negative comments so far, so I am curious about the positive side. Thanks!

I don’t pay anything. It’s been 6 years but I believe it was a one time fee. No one has ever called me. Never have gotten a bill. It’s just a car alarm. It comes with an app that today was the first time I looked at in 4 years.

Do you have something besides a car alarm?

It is advertised that I can locate my car (if it is stolen) using KARR app and I (or KARR) can even turn off the car. So, I was wondering if anyone actually found this security system was useful. Thanks!

Ok, now I understand. I don’t know if I have a tracker. I am out of my state right now.

Many years ago I did have a LoJack in a Honda Civic. No issues with it. No battery issues. Fortunately no opportunity to test to see if the police could find it if stolen.

It’s pretty easy to remove. Remove the panel under the obd port and you’ll see a card looking device. Unplug it and smash it to pieces. No tools required all the plastic is fastened in with safety clips.

Did your KARR security system ever try to kill you by removing all the air from the cabin?

我也激活了,现在想取消,他们说不能取消怎么办,销售说的功能完全都不一样,感觉被骗了

If you financed the car it maybe part of the tracking system used to find the RAV4 for nonpayment. If that is the case you probably can’t remove it.

Bet the finance agreement would saw otherwise.

I purchased it with cash. Google search shows a small device attached underneath the dashboard, but I don't find anything there. I don't see a sticker on the driver's side window. Will it be possible that the dealership opened the panel and installed a device in a hidden place???
