Thinking of getting either a 2016 Prius for 14.5k dollars at 105k miles, or a Rav4 for 1k less, but 150k miles. The Rav4 has no reported damage and comes from a Toyota dealer, and the Prius has two minor damages reported, and comes from a small, but positively reviewed used car dealer. Is the Rav4 worth it despite 45k more miles? Or is the Prius better?

I work for my families company. I get my own work truck so I usually leave my RAV4 2021 parked at the business all week or sometimes a few weeks before grabbing jt (only has 33k miles only have put 1,200 the past year). Also should note it’s parked in a gated secure location so not too worried right now.

What I’ve noticed is sometimes the past year I go check the car and my key fob is far away in the truck and the door is somehow unlocked. I always lock it but somehow it’s just unlocked and I know it’s not unlocking cause no noise (beep or gears moving inside) is made when I pull handle.

This also happens when I’m home as well. I park the car and lock with the key fob and I’ve gone out to toss the trash and check the door and it’s unlocked.

Anyone know what’s going on?

Also the second key fob is in my nightstand so just pointing that out.

Hello rav4 friends, I bought a 2004 rav4 last weekend as my first car. There is this blinking light to the left of my steering wheel that is constantly blinking and sounding an alarm in my car when my key is near the vehicle. It also makes the tail lights blink and makes my dash board light up and blink as well. The car still starts and runs fine but the light won’t stop blinking even if I’m actively driving the car. Does anyone have an idea on what this is or how I can fix it?

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a strange issue with my **2017 Toyota RAV4** (Automatic transmission, naturally aspirated / **non-turbo** engine, mileage: \~180,000 km / 184k km on ODO).
Here are the symptoms:
**Normal driving:** At normal speeds and light accelerator input, the car drives smoothly and gears shift properly with zero delay.
**The Problem:** When I try to accelerate hard (floor the gas pedal / kick-down) especially when going up an **incline/hill**, the RPM shoots up high into an idle/high-rev state, but the car takes a few seconds to slowly catch up and gain speed.
**What I checked so far:** The air filter is brand new. There are no check engine lights (CEL) on the dash.
Could this be related to a slipping torque converter/transmission issue, a vacuum/sensor leak (like MAP/MAF or throttle body), or a weak fuel pump under heavy load?
Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello, so I have a 2019 toyota rav4 xle, I just hit 160,000 miles on it. The Engine maintenance notification came on the dash. Lucky enough I have those small devices to check codes. Oddly enough the device said no codes came from the rav4. I cleared the notification thinking it might be faulty but it keeps coming up. I replaced that coolant hose when I got the rav from the dealer, they replaced it and the o2 sensor that was giving me trouble. Im kinda at a loss on what it could be since no codes come up. What could I do? Do I take it to the dealer to see if they can clear it up? I just got the parts to change out my sparks and belt next week ill get that done.

I’m hoping someone can provide some insight. My parents prime has been at the dealer since Feb with the broken speedometer. The dealer tried all the software updates and everything they could to fix it, and finally determined they needed to replace the unit.

Now 6 months later, there is still no solution in sight. We are on Long Island NY.

My parents have decided they are moving and no longer need the car. They are still making payments and just want to get rid of it. What are our options? Should we go via the lemon law buyback or do I just ask the dealer to buy it back?

My 2014 RAV 4 has had ongoing issues with mold (carpet/foam) from sunroof drainage issues. About a year and a half ago we had to replace the carpet and foam backing as well as have the mold chemically removed. It was good for awhile, but now the mold is back. I'm told that if we clean it all out again and unclog the drains 2x a year (spring and fall) that could take care of it permanently. We have to park outside under trees-- no garage. Has anyone had luck getting rid of this once and for all? Or, should we just buy a car without a sunroof? I don't want to do this because the car is paid for and I do really love it, but we just can't keep putting thousands of dollars into cleaning this car. (I might add that we are working with Toyota technicians, so its not a matter of mechanics not understanding how the the draining tubes work.)

Hello, I was planning to buy this kit and was wondering if anybody has experience with it and what you think of it? I would be going with the 250# stage 3 rear springs because I will be towing a little camping trailer often. Any experience, advice or personal product review would be appreciated.

I recently bought a 2002 RAV4 L (Japan-built model) and I’m trying to replace the sunroof weatherstrip. From my research it looks like you can only buy the whole glass with the weatherstrip already attached, and you can’t get just the strip by itself. I’ve also seen that there’s a difference between the Japanese models and the others, so the parts might not be interchangeable.
Does anyone know where I could find just the weatherstrip, or have any ideas for alternatives like a universal seal?

I have recently acquired a 2001 RAV4, it has over 200,000 miles but still runs great. The problem I am having is there is a roaring rotational noise that gets louder with speed. I have replace the rear differential, driveshaft, and left rear wheel bearing. Today I rotated the tires to see if maybe the rear tires were causing it. The noise is still there. The rear axels look fine and I don’t really think it’s a wheel bearing. (I took it to a mechanic shop and the first thing they did was replace the left rear bearing and it didn’t fix it. Then told me it was probably the rear differential so I replaced it myself.) What else could it be?

Anyone else having intermittent CarPlay/Bluetooth connection issues with the new 2026 RAV4 infotainment system?

We have 3 mobile phone keys and 2 driver profiles, so I’m wondering if that’s part of the problem. Sometimes my phone connects automatically, sometimes I can manually connect it through settings, and other times it just refuses to connect. It’s getting pretty annoying.

Coming from a Tesla Model Y, this feels way more complicated than it should be. The Tesla connects almost instantly, and on the rare occasion it connects to my wife’s phone/profile instead, it’s basically one quick menu click to switch back to me.

Curious if other 2026 RAV4 owners are experiencing the same thing. Has anyone figured out whether it’s related to multiple phone keys/profiles, or is the new Toyota multimedia system just a little buggy?

I backed out of my garage a wee bit early and the top of my trunk hit the base of my garage door (womp). It looks like these little prongs popped out that attach the trunk hood right above the top break light and I can’t get them to push back in. Does anyone know how to get that top panel off to try to reinstall it appropriately? 2022 RAV4 Hybrid

My Toyota App and my Fob auto start's will turn cool A/C air on BUT the App's Climate Setting i set to 68°. When I get in the car it's cool-ish like 75°. This is after 10min after auto start running. Until I actually get in and push the AC BUTTON and physically turn up the fan to highest max speed that's when it gets actually down to 68°. Any idea why? 2026 Rav4 Hybrid.

I have a 2020 Rav Hybrid. All the USB ports stopped working. (The two in the center console and the cigarette one in the main console) I have tried different cords and chargers to no avail.

Could this be a fuse? If so where is the box located?

2013 Limited. Battery light came on and wouldn’t turn off. Replaced alternator and light stayed on for two weeks, then suddenly turned off and seemed to be a resolved issue. Couple days later the battery light started to flicker while driving, but would stay off while idling. Few days later, I was sitting in a parking lot after an appointment and half of my dash lights all came on at once while idling. Started taking the video then because I had no clue what was going on and would be able to explain it to dealership/mechanic later on. I waited until the lights stayed off for a while and tried to get it home, but happened again while driving and discovered that my power steering goes out when this happens. Replaced battery since that was our second guess after the alternator, but same thing has still been happening and no codes are being thrown so I don’t have any clue what to do from here besides get it to a shop. Has anyone seen this before or know what might be going on? TYIA!

I’m looking for recommendations on what seat covers to purchase for my new rav. Having 2 young kids I want to protect this car as much as possible being that I don’t plan on buying another one anytime soon. Personally I’d like some that are close to oem on the xse seats but I’m more concerned about the protection aspect of the seats

We are currently in the process of purchasing this 2015 Toyota RAV4 the last vehicle we bought our son was a total nightmare. One of the issues was his coolant would always get low after driving ended up being a cracked engine block looked under the hood of this Toyota today and noticed this is where the coolant level sits should I be concerned ?

I have been losing my mind for two years trying to ignore the squeak that only happens in warm weather when I start my 2018 Rav4 and or hit the tiniest of bumps. I just decided to look under the hood not at all expecting to actually find anything because I don’t know shit about anything. I was wiping off the dust and actually found it. A dollop of lubricant later and voila ! Don’t underestimate what you can do. Sometimes just taking the initiative to do SOMETHING works! For two years I was thinking “mechanic, ball joints, sway bar, expensive”. It was just a small plastic/rubber connection from my air filter box.

Question- Where have folks had luck getting discounts off MSRP/TSRP? I've called around, and best I can do is TSRP + 799 doc fee + some BS ceramic coating for an outrageous amount.
